Moves Water Spout is Remoraid's most threatening move, as it is the most powerful move in the game when Remoraid is at full health. A Naive nature increases Remoraid's Speed even further while coming at no real cost to Remoraid, as it generally can't survive powerful attacks regardless; it is selected over Hasty due to the fact that most priority attacks are physical. Usage Tips Remoraid's best strategy is simply to spam Water Spout, hitting everything that doesn't resist Water for big damage. Be sure to avoid opponents with priority moves, as these will severely lower Water Spout's damage output. Remoraid performs most effectively if switched in when the foe doesn't attack, so a VoltTurn strategy is very effective; this allows its HP to remain at full and its Water Spout to be quite potent. Team Options Bulkier Pokemon aid Remoraid by taking hits that would otherwise severely damage it; its weaknesses, Electric and Grass, can be covered by a variety of Pokemon, such as Magnemite and Foongus. Entry hazard support from the likes of Drilbur and Onix is appreciated, as it assists Remoraid in KOing some of the bulkier Pokemon in the metagame. Likewise, entry hazard removers, such as Vullaby and Drilbur, are extremely helpful in keeping Remoraid at full health. VoltTurn users, especially slow ones, allow Remoraid to switch in without taking a hit. Knock Off support from Pokemon such as Pawniard is extremely beneficial, as it softens up opposing walls, which makes it easier for Remoraid to break through them.

While Remoraid can use special attacks easily, it can also hit physically thanks to its Base 65 Attack, excellent physical movepool, and access to Hustle, which gives its attacks a huge boost. Waterfall is Remoraid's STAB move, hitting very hard thanks to Hustle. Return, when combined with Waterfall, gives Remoraid almost perfect neutral coverage, only missing out on Ferroseed and Frillish. Seed Bomb allows Remoraid to easily take on Water-types, namely Frillish with Water Absorb, who can wall Remoraid. In the final moveslot, Water Spout does massive damage, even without any investment. However, Fire Blast is another interesting option, allowing it to maul any Grass-types switching in. Its accuracy is also not affected by Hustle, which is a big plus given its fairly shaky 85% accuracy. A Jolly nature gives Remoraid as much Speed as possible, hitting 25 Speed with a Choice Scarf, though Naive is an option if you don't want Water Spout's power to be reduced. The given EVs maximize Remoraid's Attack and Speed. Choice Band is an option over Choice Scarf, giving Remoraid the ability to completely demolish teams with strength that is equal to that of Choice Band Cranidos. In the final moveslot, Gunk Shot is an interesting option, hitting Grass-types who otherwise wall Remoraid ridiculously hard. However, with Hustle, its accuracy is very poor, so only use it if you feel that Dame Fortune is on your side. This set is walled by Lileep, so teammates who can get rid of it are nice additions. Riolu pairs exceptionally well, as it not only can get rid of Lileep, but also can benefit from Remoraid's ability to get rid of walls. Munchlax is also an interesting teammate, as it takes care of many special attackers who would like to knock out Remoraid. Mantyke is another example, easily absorbing the priority moves which can take out Remoraid.

Thanks to Hustle and its powerful special movepool, Remoraid can easily become a mixed attacker. Waterfall is the main physical STAB here, smashing into special walls aiming to take a Water Spout. Likewise, Water Spout is Remoraid's main special STAB, and should be used early on for greater effect, laying waste to anything that doesn't resist it. Seed Bomb is used in the third slot to take care of any Water-types trying to tank the two aforementioned attacks. Lastly, Fire Blast easily dispatches Grass-types such as Ferroseed as well as Croagunk, which can take every other attack Remoraid can throw at it. A Naughty nature gives as much power to Remoraid's Attack as possible, as it has no investment. There is no need for investment thanks to Hustle, which gives a nice boost to Remoraid's physical attacks. Max Special Attack and Speed EVs give as much power to Water Spout as possible, as it is Remoraid's main attack. With a Choice Scarf, the given EVs, and a Naughty nature, Remoraid hits 24 Speed, as opposed to 25 from a Speed boosting nature. However, 24 Speed is still very fast, outpacing most of the metagame. Users of Stealth Rock are helpful to aid Remoraid in wallbreaking, as it helps Remoraid more easily secure some key KOs. Remoraid can easily open the path for many sweepers to clean up the remains of teams it has run through, such as Elekid, who has nice coverage but really appreciates some of its key targets to be weakened. Water Absorb users are a threat as they can soak up a Water Spout, making Ferroseed and Munchlax nice teammates to get rid of them. Lastly, Ice Beam is an interesting option if you're having a problem with Dragon-types.

Remoraid is one of the fastest users of Choice Scarf in Little Cup and can blow through unprepared teams thanks to Water Spout, which sits at a cool 150 Base Power when Remoraid is at full health. However, if Remoraid manages to lose a significant amount of its HP, Surf is there to provide consistent damage. Fire Blast allows Remoraid to demolish Ferroseed and Croagunk, who is immune to Water Spout thanks to Dry Skin, on the switch in. In the final moveslot, Hidden Power Ground lets Remoraid hit Croagunk and Chinchou, both of whom can take a Water Spout and hit back hard with priority and STAB Electric-type attacks, respectively. Hidden Power Grass is also an option in the final moveslot, allowing Remoraid to hit defensive Water-types, who would otherwise wall this set, hard. Timid is the preferred nature on this set, as Remoraid will hit 25 Speed with a Choice Scarf attached, allowing it to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame as well as most users of Choice Scarf. Max EVs in Special Attack and Speed let Remoraid hit hard and fast. Sniper is the superior ability over Hustle, as Hustle only boosts physical moves. Sniper is very handy whenever it activates, however infrequent that is, thanks to the boost it gives it critical hits. Ice Beam is a potential option over Fire Blast to hit Dragon- and Flying-types, and hits Croagunk for neutral damage. Given that Remoraid has very little to speak of in the defensive department, it appreciates teammates that can soak up super effective attacks aimed at it. Chinchou is an interesting example, taking Electric attacks without breaking a sweat thanks to Volt Absorb, and hitting back hard with its own STAB attacks. Since Remoraid can put even dedicated walls to a stop with Water Spout, sweepers are nice partners for Remoraid. Gastly is a good example, being able to wreck the opponent after Munchlax is 3HKOed by Water Spout.

Remoraid is quite lucky because it's one of the few Pokemon who learn Water Spout—the strongest Water-type move in Little Cup at full health bar. Choice Scarf Remoraid Speed ties with other prominent Choice Scarf users who linger at the 25 Speed mark, such as Houndour and Mankey. Remoraid is often compared to its fellow Water Spout user Wailmer, who has more HP. However, Wailmer does not reach 25 Speed with a Choice Scarf boost, making Remoraid a great alternative if you want that extra Speed. In the remaining slots, Surf serves as a reliable STAB attack, Ice Beam strikes Grass-types, and Hidden Power provides coverage. Hidden Power Ground hits Chinchou and Croagunk, while Hidden Power Grass hits opposing Water-types. Water Spout is Remoraid's primary attack, as it hurts everything in Little Cup that isn't resistant or immune to it; when Remoraid is at full health, it has a whopping 150 Base Power. However, the Base Power of Water Spout depends on the percentage of Remoraid's HP remaining. Any form of damage, such as Stealth Rock, will weaken the power of Water Spout. As such, it's best to use Remoraid in the lead slot or bring it out early to keep its HP in mint condition. Surf acts as an emergency STAB attack in case Remoraid fails to keep its HP intact. Ice Beam hits Grass-types, such as Paras, for super effective damage and Croagunk, who would otherwise wall this set, for neutral damage. The choice for the final slot depends on what your team needs Remoraid to hit. Hidden Power Ground smashes Croagunk and Chinchou, who may attempt to come in on your STAB attack. On the other hand, Hidden Power Grass hits Wooper and opposing bulky Water-types for super effective damage. Remoraid, even if it has taken Stealth Rock damage, can 2HKO Munchlax with Stealth Rock down, dealing a maximum of 54.55% with Water Spout. As such, Gastly makes an excellent partner; Remoraid can potentially lure in and KO Munchlax, giving Gastly more freedom to sweep late-game. Elekid also functions as a great late-game cleaner once your opponent's team is significantly weakened. Defensively, a two-man core of Gligar and Munchlax, makes a good addition alongside Remoraid. Croagunk and Mantyke are common Pokemon immune to Water-type attacks; Gligar can check Croagunk to a good degree, while Munchlax can 2HKO Mantyke with Returns. Rain Dance teams work well with Remoraid, as Rain Dance negates possible hail and sandstorm damage, which strip Remoraid of its precious HP. Rain Dance also boosts Water Spout's damage output, making Remoraid even more destructive.

Remoraid has a great physical movepool, a respectable Attack stat, and the ability Hustle, which boosts its Attack by 50%. Take note that Hustle's side effect reduces Remoraid's accuracy by 20%, which means that normally 100% accurate moves are now 80% accurate. With Choice Band and Hustle, and Remoraid's Attack climbs to an outstanding 36, which is equivalent to Choice Band Cranidos's. With the right support, Remoraid makes an excellent physical sweeper, despite its lack of priority moves. Waterfall hits any Pokemon who doesn't resist it incredibly hard anything, Seed Bomb hits opposing Water-types, Return smacks Water Absorbers for neutral damage, and Water Spout bluffs a specially-based set. A boosted Waterfall is incredibly hard to switch into, because something is bound to lose a sizable chunk of its HP if your opponent is not packing a Water Absorber. Seed Bomb complements Waterfall, as it hits Water-types for super effective damage. Return rounds off the coverage, smashing Croagunk and Paras trying to gain HP with Dry Skin. The last slot depends on what item Remoraid is running. Water Spout works well with Choice Band or Choice Scarf, as it helps bluff a specially-based set. This attracts special walls like Munchlax the next time around, allowing Remoraid to OHKO them with Waterfall. If Remoraid is running Life Orb, Substitute is the preferred choice in order to block priority hits that would otherwise spell doom for Remoraid, due to its paper-thin defenses. There are plenty of options to choose from for the item slot, depending on what your team needs. Choice Band provides instant power to hurt almost anything on the switch. Choice Scarf boosts Remoraid's Speed, while still letting it hit hard with 24 Attack, thanks to Hustle. Lastly, Life Orb adds more freedom, but doesn't let Remoraid hit as hard as it would with Choice Band. Remoraid doesn't really have any sure-fire counters; your best bet is to try to eliminate things that hinder its sweep, such as priority users and Water Absorb Pokemon. Priority moves plague the Little Cup metagame, so it's generally hard to eliminate every priority user. Meowth, Croagunk, and Dratini, are common priority users; as such, defensive Gligar will work great alongside Remoraid to check these threats. In addition to this, Gligar also has Stealth Rock to help Remoraid sweep. Water Absorbers, like Mantyke, Croagunk, and Paras, will usually slow down Remoraid's sweep for the most part, because they prevent it from using its primary STAB move. As with the first set, Munchlax and Gligar can wall these Pokemon nicely, so be sure to pack them.

Remoraid can run a mixed set effectively because of its ability, Hustle. With the suggested EV spread, Remoraid reaches 21 Attack, 16 Special Attack, and 24 Speed - enough to deal a respectable amount of damage on both ends. This set has excellent coverage, thanks to Water Spout, Fire Blast and Seed Bomb, and can be an effective sweeper late-game. Waterfall is the crux of the set, as it smashes unprepared Munchlax, and other special walls that may be lured in by Remoraid's special attacks. Waterfall is Remoraid's main physical STAB move, while Water Spout is Remoraid's main special STAB move. Water Spout is excellent early in the game, when Remoraid's HP is in mint condition. The final two move slots provide great coverage along with its STAB moves. Seed Bomb allows Remoraid to hit Water-types for super effective damage, while Fire Blast hits Grass-types and Croagunk who attempt to absorb Remoraid's Water-type moves. However, if Dragon-types, such as Dratini, are more important, Ice Beam is another option. Bringing a defensive Gligar alongside Remoraid can help check many priority moves directed at Remoraid's poor Defense stat. Gligar can provide Stealth Rock as well, helping Remoraid sweep more efficiently. Munchlax can deal with a portion of the Water Absorbers, who can switch in freely on Remoraid's main moves. Offensively, Elekid works great as a late-game sweeper once the opponent's team has taken a great deal of damage.
