Yawn prevents Pokemon like Gourgeist and Sandslash from freely switching into Galarian Stunfisk, while Pain Split gives it a mean of recovery, albeit unreliable. Aromatisse makes for a stellar partner thanks to ability to check threats like Gallade for Galarian Stunfisk; it can also heal it back up with Wish, which it greatly appreciates. In return, Galarian Stunfisk checks Steel-types like Togedemaru for Aromatisse. Similarly, Weezing and Silvally-Fairy can take on Fighting-types such as Poliwrath that it struggles against. Lastly, wallbreakers and setup sweepers like Trevenant and Quiver Dance Ribombee appreciate Galarian Stunfisk providing them with more opportunities to come in via Yawn.

Galarian Stunfisk is a good Stealth Rock setter in the metagame thanks to its great defensive stats and great defensive typing that lets it wall threats such as Rotom formes. Rock Slide hits Pokemon such as Cramorant, Articuno, and the aforementioned Rotom formes; Rock Slide is more consistent than Stone Edge and preferred due to its higher accuracy and PP. Curse turns Galarian Stunfisk into a bulky late-game cleaner while also making up for its passivity. Yawn forces switches from Pokemon that wall Galarian Stunfisk, such as Uxie and Tangela. Foul Play deals significant damage to Swords Dance users such as Silvally formes. Galarian Stunfisk is a decent pick on balance and stall teams thanks to it compressing the role of an Electric immunity, Stealth Rock setter, and special wall. Bulky Water-types such as Cramorant and Poliwrath are great partners to Galarian Stunfisk, as they can take on Water-types such as Poliwrath and Silvally-Water, which threaten Galarian Stunfisk, while also benefitting from Galarian Stunfisk's Electric immunity. Grass-types are also great partners to cover Galarian Stunfisk's weaknesses, with Appletun covering its weaknesses to Ground, Water, and Fire, while Gourgeist-S and Trevenant cover its weaknesses to Ground, Water, and Fighting. Uxie can also work as a partner, as it is resistant to Fighting and immune to Ground. Spikes stacking teams also appreciate Galarian Stunfisk's ability to force switches with Yawn, with a Spikes setter such as Qwilfish also covering Galarian Stunfisk's weakness to Fighting.
