Victini Movesets & Wettbewerbs-Sets

With solid Attack and Speed stats along with access to strong attacks and pivoting, Victini acts as a strong Choice item breaker in the metagame. V-create is extremely strong and allows Victini to break through the majority of non-resisted targets. Bolt Strike is Victini's secondary STAB attack that enables it to hit Pokemon resistant to Fire such as Toxapex, Poison / Water Latias, and Fire / Flying Tornadus-T super effectively. U-turn is a utility option that allows Victini to gain momentum against switch-ins. Trick is used to hinder walls like Mew, Toxapex, and Latias, though it runs the risk of recieving Black Sludge in return. Choice Band is the primary item choice for Victini to maximize its breaking power, though Choice Scarf let's it outspeed the metagame's faster threats like Latias, Dragapult, and Naganadel. A Jolly nature and maximum Speed are necessary for Choice Scarf Victini to outspeed these threats; similarly, Choice Band runs the same spread to outpace threats such as Hydreigon, Urshifu-S, and Tapu Lele. Victini is able to capitalize on its few switch-ins with U-turn, so strong special attackers like Latios, Dragapult, and Tornadus-T are able to pressure Victini's checks; physical walls such as Water / Ground Mew and Ground / Steel Heatran are OHKOed by these partners. Rillaboom is another partner that can capitalize on Victini's Ground-type checks, while Victini can threaten Rillaboom's checks in return. Victini is great at breaking Steel-types, so it pairs well with breakers that struggle against those, such as Tapu Lele and Cresselia. Victini is able to apply a lot of pressure with the support of entry hazards, so Mew, Lycanroc-D, and Garchomp are good partners. It's important to pair Victini with some form of hazard control, so partners like Latias, Excadrill, Mew, and Tornadus-T fill that role. Choice Band Victini is vulnerable to faster threats like Lycanroc-D, Latios, and Dragapult, so having checks for those is important; Fairy / Dragon Necrozma in particular checks a large portion of Victini's offensive checks and is able to provide Stealth Rock support.

V-create is capable of 2HKOing nearly every Pokemon in the metagame, with the exception of bulky Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Toxapex, Slowbro, and Swampert. However, even they have difficulty switching into it when sun boosted. Bolt Strike targets Water-type Pokemon that resist V-create. U-turn generates momentum for teammates. Trick cripples walls such as Gastrodon by locking them into an attack. Maximum Speed investment alongside a Jolly nature allows Victini to outspeed key threats such as Urshifu-R, Kyurem, and Tapu Lele. Torkoal powers V-create up with Drought, supports the team with Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, forces switches for Victini to exploit with Yawn, and uses its physical bulk to check Pokemon like Mimikyu, Weavile, and Zeraora. Cinderace can use High Jump Kick and Sucker Punch to get rid of Rock- and Ghost-types like Tyranitar and Dragapult for Victini, and the pair can wear down shared checks such as Swampert and Rotom-W. Volcarona can break through checks to Victini such as Toxapex, Hippowdon, and Swampert with its Psychic and Giga Drain. Victini can threaten special walls such as Blissey in return. Rotom-H beats Mantine on Flying teams to give Victini freedom to spam V-create, switches into strong Electric-types such as Regieleki and Tapu Koko, and provides support in Defog and dual screens. Heatran uses its Rock neutrality and Dragon resistance to check threats to Victini such as Nihilego and Latias. Choice Scarf Blacephalon appreciates Victini's wallbreaking, allowing it to easily clean late-game. In return, Choice Scarf Blacephalon can take on troublesome Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Spectrier, Slowbro, and Choice Specs Latios. Volcanion is a powerful special wallbreaker that can break past physical walls such as Mandibuzz and Toxapex as well as check Azumarill for Victini. Parting Shot Incineroar can form a momentum-generating core with Victini, allowing Fire teams to always keep momentum on their side. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Swampert and Hippowdon, while Substitute lets Victini take advantage of forced switches and avoid status, allowing it to wear down its checks such as Heatran and become harder to revenge kill. Heavy-Duty Boots gives Victini longevity, especially helping it threaten bulkier types such as Steel and Poison. Maximum Speed EVs with a Jolly nature allow Victini to outspeed and pivot out of threats such as Mimikyu, Landorus-T, and Kyurem. Slowbro is a great partner for Victini, as it deals with faster Water- and Ground-types such as Barraskewda and Choice Scarf Excadrill that threaten Victini, as well as pivots it in with Teleport. Calm Mind Latios breaks through bulky physical walls such as Hippowdon, Toxapex, and Slowbro for Victini, and it appreciates Victini pressuring Steel-types such as Heatran and Jirachi, which Latios struggles with. Cosmic Power Mew benefits from Victini pressuring Steel-types such as Bisharp and Aegislash, and it acts as a good late-game wincon in matchups such as Ground and Water, which Victini struggles with.

With solid all around stats and great moves at its disposal, Victini is an excellent wallbreaker and pivot. V-create is a very strong STAB move that deals massive damage to all neutral targets. Zen Headbutt is a nice secondary STAB move that hits foes that resist Fire like Volcanion and has good neutral coverage with V-create, and also does not reduce Victini's stats. U-turn allows Victini to keep up momentum after scoring a KO or on a predicted switch to a check like physically defensive Landorus-T. Bolt Strike is a great coverage move to hit Pokemon that resist V-create such as Slowking and Ho-Oh. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Victini to switch in more easily without worry about Stealth Rock and have the freedom to switch moves, but Choice Band deals incredible damage. Speed receivers should run Jolly to make the most of their new Speed stat, and Attack Adamant or Jolly. Victini loves to receive donations from gods with high Attack stats like Necrozma-DM, Rayquaza, and Groudon. Groudon's Drought also increases V-create's damage even further. Alternatively, it can receive Speed from fast gods like Mewtwo, Zamazenta, and Pheromosa. Many setup sweepers appreciate Victini's ability to bring them in with U-turn, such as Rayquaza and Bulk Up Zeraora. Necrozma-DM and Victini synergize well, with Victini checking bulky Steel-types and making great use of Necrozma-DM's Attack stat, and Necrozma-DM switching into defensive Knock Off users that threaten Victini, activating its Weakness Policy and threatening to sweep. Victini is prone to being outsped after using V-create, so Landorus-T, which is immune to Earthquake from Garchomp and walls Zeraora, is a good teammate to handle faster threats. Victini is crippled by Knock Off, so bulky Pokemon that can switch into it like Buzzwole are appreciated. Choice Band sets require excellent entry hazard removal, so reliable Defog users such as Corviknight, Skarmory, Ho-Oh, and Tornadus-T are a necessity. Victini also likes being pivoted in by Pokemon like Landorus-T, Slowking, and Tapu Koko.

Victini is central to Psychic Terrain teams, and it sees plenty of use on standard offense as well. Its all-around good stats and potent typing allow it to thrive against common Pokemon such as Genesect, Rillaboom, and Celesteela. Expanding Force deals boosted spread damage in Psychic Terrain, and it still does decent damage without the Terrain boost. Encore allows Victini to lock foes out of doing damage, such as Tailwind Talonflame, Fake Out Incineroar, and Iron Defense Mew, while Bolt Strike deals extra damage to Water-types such as Volcanion and Tapu Fini. Maximum Speed is important for outspeeding Genesect, Galarian Zapdos, and Kyurem-B. Victini threatens common Steel-types like Genesect and Celesteela for Psychic Terrain teams; it is practically required for the archetype. Indeedee-F complements Victini with Helping Hand, Follow Me, and automatic Psychic Terrain, allowing it to get multiple hits off and fire off boosted Expanding Forces. However, Victini is not limited to Psychic Terrain. Fast Pokemon like Zeraora and Regieleki are also great partners for Victini, since they remove Blastoise, Tapu Fini, and Volcanion and supplement Victini's average Speed with Electroweb. Choice Scarf Victini compresses speed control and a way to check several dangerous offensive threats in Mega Medicham, Tapu Lele, and Mega Charizard Y, along with crippling the opposition thanks to Trick and Final Gambit or pummeling them with strong V-creates. This in conjunction with Victini's Final Gambit can often mean that the remaining teammates can clean up very easily. Bulkier offense archetypes enjoy Victini's defensive utility, as its ability to pivot in on huge threats like Mega Charizard Y, Tapu Lele, and Mega Medicham is often a godsend for them. Victini likes to get in unharmed so it can take advantage of its bulk as best as possible, so pivots like Corviknight, Blissey, and Slowbro make good teammates. Similarly, Defoggers like Zapdos and the aforementioned Corviknight make excellent partners because they can remove Stealth Rock, which often hinders Victini's defensive utility. Pokemon that appreciate Victini crippling or KOing Pokemon like Heatran, Landorus-T, and Slowbro, such as Mega Mawile, Tapu Koko, and Gliscor, make fantastic partners. Victini can struggle with sturdy Ground-types like Garchomp and Landorus-T that can tank its V-creates decently while wearing it down with Rocky Helmet or Rough Skin, so Pokemon like Weavile, Kyurem, and Ash-Greninja are good choices to deal with them. These three also appreciate Victini's ability to bait in these Ground-types and U-turn on them.

Victini uses its good defensive typing and all-around solid bulk to function as a solid defensive pivot, checking the likes of Tapu Lele, Mega Latias, and Mega Latios, while also boasting a decent offensive profile with its high Base Power moves. However, its mediocre offensive stats, reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots to be a consistent pivot, and lack of recovery mean it struggles to check threats in the long term. Victini is also extremely weak to Pursuit, so oftentimes it struggles to check Pokemon more than once. Blue Flare boasts a nifty burn chance to punish switch-ins such as Garchomp and Mega Swampert, and it can 2HKO defensive Landorus-T, which V-create can't. V-create is still viable, however, to break through specially bulky Pokemon such as Blissey and Galarian Slowking and check threats like Volcarona, although the Defense and Speed drops make Victini more vulnerable to Pursuit and revenge killers. Psychic pressures common Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Toxapex, Kommo-o, Garchomp, and Tapu Fini, as well as being a strong spammable STAB move. Future Sight is a support option that, in conjunction with U-turn, boosts teammates' wallbreaking capabilities but lowers Victini's immediate offensive presence. A bulkier spread of 120 HP / 252 SpA / 136 Spe with a Modest nature can be used to outspeed Rillaboom and maximize bulk to check Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Mega Latias better, although it loses out on outspeeding crucial threats like Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Hydreigon. Victini works best on offense teams that appreciate its compressed defensive capabilities in checking the likes of Mega Latias and Tapu Lele, as well as the offensive pressure it brings to the table. Partners like Toxapex and Kommo-o work well with it as they appreciate Victini checking these threats. Strong wallbreakers that struggle to get onto the field such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, Kartana, and Mega Medicham appreciate it wearing down checks like Slowking, Slowbro, and Mega Latias with Toxic, as well as giving them more entry opportunities with U-turn and Encore. Teammates like Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Tapu Koko can deal with Dark-type Pokemon that pressure Victini such as Weavile, Tyranitar, and Hydreigon. EV Spreads 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe: Maximum HP ensures that Victini can OHKO the many base 100 HP foes, such as Groudon and Kyogre. 228 HP / 92 Atk / 188 Spe: This spread prioritizes OHKOing Zacian-C with V-create, and outspeeding Landorus-T. 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe: If not using Final Gambit, this spread is useful for maximizing the power of V-create.

EV Spreads 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe: Maximizing HP allows Victini to OHKO support Groudon and other base 100 HP foes. 228 HP / 92 Atk / 188 Spe: This spread allows Victini to outspeed Landorus-T and OHKO Zacian-C with V-create.

Moves Psychium Z powers Psychic up into Shattered Psyche, which is used most specifically for KOing Kommo-o, but also Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Mega Lopunny. It is the highest Base Power move on the set, so it is used to KO Pokemon like Donphan after Sturdy is broken. Blue Flare takes out Pokemon weak to Fire such as Magearna, Celesteela, Mega Metagross, and Serperior. Glaciate can slow down the opposing Pokemon while also dealing chip damage, which is useful against foes like offensive Mega Charizard X and slow or Choice Band Dragonite sets. Flame Charge is used against Pokemon that will avoid fainting to V-create such as Magnezone, Flail Mega Pinsir, and Flail Mega Lopunny. It can also be used to outspeed SubSeed users like Jumpluff and Serperior. Zen Headbutt is used against Poison-types like Mega Venusaur and Naganadel. Trick can shut down stall Pokemon that do not use Z-Crystals or Mega Stones like Type: Null and Pyukumuku, as well as give Victini a chance against Porygon2, albeit an unreliable one. Mold Breaker Outrage users like Choice Scarf Haxorus and Mega Gyarados can beat Dragon-types like Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, and Kommo-o. Victini can cover Pokemon like Magearna, Celesteela, and most Mega Metagross variants in return. Bulky Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini can take care of Ground-types like Donphan, Zygarde, and Landorus-T. Synergistically, Victini can defeat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Venusaur, and Kartana.

Moves Celebrate is required for this set to function, allowing Victini to boost up all of its stats with Z-Celebrate as well as raise Stored Power's Base Power to 120. Victini is OHKOed by Naganadel, relies on damage rolls for taking out foes like Mega Lopunny, and gives a Special Attack Download boost to Genesect, causing offensive Choice Specs sets to have a favorable damage roll against Victini. The only times where Victini may not want to use Z-Celebrate immediately are during scenarios where it must consider using Taunt first in order to prevent a crucial status move. These two exceptions are against Mega Mawile and non-Occa Berry Taunt Whimsicott; both of them are coinflips. Against Mega Mawile, Victini must either use Taunt if Mega Mawile uses Swords Dance or use Z-Celebrate if Mega Mawile attacks immediately. Against Whimsicott, Victini must either use V-create immediately if Whimsicott uses Taunt or use its own Taunt if Whimsicott does not. Against Mega Charizard X, simply use Z-Celebrate followed by Stored Power, which will OHKO offensive sets and 2HKO Mega Charizard X if it is specially defensive; specially defensive Mega Charizard X will be both unable to outspeed Victini after a Dragon Dance and unable to 2HKO it with unboosted Outrage. Against Zeraora, after using Z-Celebrate turn one, act according to what move Zeraora uses. If Zeraora attacks immediately and does not get the small chance of KOing or uses Charge, use V-create for the OHKO. If it uses Bulk Up, use Stored Power. Even if Stored Power does not OHKO, Zeraora will be unable to KO Victini before another Stored Power KOes it. Team Options Fast Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon like Electrium Z Zeraora and Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu can beat Water-types like Mega Gyarados, Greninja, and Mega Slowbro. In return, Victini can take care of Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Venusaur. Mold Breaker Outrage users, namely Choice Scarf Haxorus and Mega Gyarados, can beat Dragonite, one of the greatest threats in 1v1. Victini can cover Pokemon like Magearna, Celesteela, and most Mega Metagross variants in return. Bulky Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini can take care of Ground-types like Donphan, Zygarde, and Landorus-T. Synergistically, Victini can defeat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Venusaur, and Kartana.

Moves V-create is Victini’s strongest move by far, and it can be used to burst Steel-types like Magearna, Celesteela, and Genesect or beat Pokemon that are unable to effectively hit Victini, and generally frail Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, non-Timid Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, and Volcarona. Bolt Strike can be used against Water-types like Tapunium Z Tapu Fini and Greninja as well as Flying-types like Choice Scarf Togekiss. Zen Headbutt can be used against Poison-types like Mega Venusaur, Nihilego, and Naganadel. Trick can shut down stall Pokemon that do not use Z-Crystals or Mega Stones like Type: Null and Pyukumuku. It can also be used to force Deoxys-S into a coinflip between using Taunt against Trick or Iron Defense against V-create. Set Details 252 Attack EVs alongside an Adamant nature are used to deal as much damage as possible. 252 Speed EVs and Choice Scarf are used to outspeed as many foes as possible. A Jolly nature can also be used to outspeed +1 base 90 Speed Pokemon like Timid Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. Usage Tips Use Trick against stall Pokemon without a Z-Crystal or Mega Stone like Type: Null that do not want to be locked into a single move. Victini will outspeed and OHKO non-Timid Choice Scarf Porygon-Z and occasionally OHKO bulkier Normalium Z Porygon-Z variants. It will also only sometimes OHKO Bulk Up Outrage Zeraora and 2HKO Kommo-o. In the case of Kommo-o, the significant flinch chance of two Zen Headbutts can sometimes remedy this. Moves V-create makes Victini an unstoppable wallbreaker under sun, able to hit almost anything for at least a 2HKO at the cost of almost forcing it to switch out after every attack. When sun isn't up to boost V-create's damage output, Bolt Strike pressures Water teams by being able to 2HKO even Toxapex and Mega Slowbro with Stealth Rock support, as only Electric-immune Water-types can switch into it and it doesn't drop Victini's Speed. U-turn allows Victini to switch out to a teammate on a forced switch, which lets it gain momentum in matchups where it is afraid to KO foes because of Pursuit trappers like Scizor. Because sun-boosted V-create and Bolt Strike cover almost the entire metagame, Trick is rarely used, but it is a decent filler option in specific circumstances such as for crippling Gastrodon on sand teams or if sun is no longer an option. Set Details Choice Band and maximum Attack investment make Victini's V-create as strong as possible, and Victory Star makes sure it can never miss. A Jolly nature and 252 Speed EVs are used to make sure Victini can outspeed Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Mega Garchomp, and Kyurem-B that would otherwise be able to KO it. Usage Tips Victini should be sent in as often as possible when sun is up, as it is all but guaranteed a KO with V-create if it is in against a slower Pokemon. If sun is up and there are no Fire-immune Pokemon on the opposing team, V-create is almost always spammable, as even Pokemon that resist it can be easily KOed. However, be careful of Pursuit users, as Victini is a sitting duck after using V-create and will almost certainly be taken out by them. For example, be careful of spamming V-create too much against Poison teams, as Alolan Muk can outspeed a -3 Victini and be guaranteed to Pursuit trap it. Don't be afraid to take Toxic from walls to KO them, as Victini rarely stays in long enough for the scaling poison damage to matter. You should be aware of V-create's 8 PP, as it can disappear rather quickly, and Victini is an unimpressive wallbreaker without V-create. This is especially problematic against Pressure Pokemon or Protect users that can stall additional PP out. Victini is also very dependent on Choice Band to make its V-create strong enough to wallbreak, so it should avoid letting even weaker Knock Off users like Tornadus-T remove its item. Victini will need to switch in and out frequently due to V-create's drops, so be diligent in removing Stealth Rock to make sure Victini is as healthy as possible. Bolt Strike should mainly be used only against Fire-immune Pokemon or against Water teams when Victini can possibly be setup fodder after using V-create, as Pokemon like Suicune and Keldeo can only set up on V-create. In other circumstances, even against Pokemon that resist V-create, Bolt Strike is usually not worth needing to predict around. Trick should almost never be used, but if your sun setter is KOed, Victini can use it to cripple its switch-ins. Team Options Torkoal is a necessary teammate for Victini, as it provides sun support, Stealth Rock, Rapid Spin, and a defensive pivot, all of which are essential to making Victini's job possible. Outside of Torkoal, Victini doesn't need much team support and helps its teammates more instead. However, Rotom-Heat can be a substitute for Torkoal on more offensive teams, as its dual screens support can protect Victini from Pursuit trappers, and it can use Defog to remove Stealth Rock as well while giving Victini free switches with Volt Switch. However, lacking sun support does noticeably lower Victini's damage output against faster Pokemon that can now switch into one V-create and threaten to revenge kill. If Torkoal is replaced for Rotom-Heat, Mega Charizard Y is a decent replacement that can still set sun for Victini. A Choice Scarf user in either Blacephalon or Infernape can be useful to take out faster Pokemon like Gengar, Mega Diancie, and Nihilego for Victini. Heatran can also beat Mega Diancie and Nihilego with its Steel typing while providing Stealth Rock if necessary. Setup sweepers like Mega Charizard X and Volcarona appreciate Victini's ability to break almost all defensive Pokemon that can stop them, making them even more threatening. Volcanion can be helpful for switching into Water-types when Victini is forced out after using V-create. Notably, it is immune to Azumarill's Aqua Jet, making it useful for checking Z-Belly Drum Azumarill if Victini locks into V-create outside of sun.

Moves V-create is Victini's strongest and most spammable attack because it deals a massive amount of damage to Pokemon that don't resist it, often 2HKOing them. Walls that do resist it like Mantine and Torkoal still take a huge amount of damage. It's especially useful for hitting Bug- and Steel-types that Psychic teams have trouble dealing with. Bolt Strike takes care of Water-types that try to switch in on V-create such as Toxapex and Mega Slowbro. U-turn lets Victini pivot around or get momentum when predicting the foe to switch out. Trick allows Victini to cripple passive Pokemon that can be annoying to take out such as Gastrodon. Set Details Maximum investment in Attack with a Choice Band allows Victini to hit as hard as possible, enabling it to KO walls like Landorus-T, Hippowdon, and Toxapex with the appropriate move. Maximum investment in Speed is used along with a Jolly nature to let Victini Speed tie with other base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Volcarona and Manaphy, outspeed Pokemon like Landorus-T and Kyurem-B, and outspeed Rotom-Wash even at -1. Victory Star increases the accuracy of Victini's V-create and Bolt Strike. Usage Tips Victini can be sent out at any point of the game to wallbreak and weaken foes for teammates like Latios and Mega Alakazam to clean up. Victini can bluff a Choice Scarf set in order to lure in and KO walls like Hippowdon and Slowbro. Choice Band should be revealed when trying to surprise the opponent with a strong Choice Band-boosted V-create. Gaining momentum with U-turn is much more effective once the opponent knows Victini's using Choice Band. V-create can be spammed with freedom because it can break almost all of Victini's defensive checks. However, Victini will be forced to switch out the turn after due to the stat drops. Trick should be used against Steel teams to allow Victini to switch between Bolt Strike and V-create, effectively breaking the team. Keep in mind that Victini may receive a useless item like Rocky Helmet after using Trick, however. Barring the Steel matchup, though, losing Choice Band is almost never worth the move freedom. Victini should be kept away from entry hazards to remain as healthy as possible throughout the game. Team Options Since this Victini set needs to switch out more often, pivots such as Jirachi, Celebi, and Slowbro are great partners. Jirachi and Celebi can set Stealth Rock, giving Victini an easier time wallbreaking. Additionally, Jirachi can bring it in safely through a U-turn, restore its health with Wish, and cripple faster Pokemon with Thunder Wave, and Celebi can absorb status and switch into Ground- and Water-types for Victini. Thanks to its amazing bulk, Slowbro can check most physical attackers. It can also cripple faster Pokemon with Thunder Wave. Deoxys-S can stack entry hazards like Spikes and Stealth Rock, which increases Victini's offensive presence tremendously, as well as set up dual screens, which help keep Victini safe and are useful against offensive teams. Due to the lack of Choice Scarf on this set, alternate Choice Scarf users like Meloetta and Latios can be used. Meloetta can check Ghost-types like Gengar thanks to its Normal typing. Latios can remove entry hazards with Defog and wallbreak alongside Victini. Additionally, Choice Scarf Latios outspeeds common Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo, Terrakion, and Hydreigon and puts tremendous pressure on Dragon teams. Mega Latias can also remove entry hazards with Defog, provide a Ground immunity, and switch into Water-types like Keldeo. Calm Mind Mega Latias capitalizes on Victini's ability to take out its checks. Cleaners like Double Dance Mew and Mega Alakazam appreciate Victini's wallbreaking abilities. Mega Gardevoir can check Dark-types thanks to its Fairy typing and weather sweepers like Excadrill and Kingdra thanks to its pre-Mega ability in Trace.

Moves V-create is Victini's strongest STAB move and is easily spammable due to its incredibly high Base Power. It's useful for hitting Bug-, Steel-, Grass-, and Ice-types such as Volcarona, Celesteela, Serperior, and Alolan Sandslash. Bolt Strike targets Water-types that attempt to switch in on a Fire-type move such as Gyarados and Azumarill. U-turn lets Victini pivot around and gain momentum when predicting the foe to switch out. Blue Flare is Victini's secondary Fire-type STAB move and is useful for late-game cleaning against Steel- and Bug-type teams, since it doesn't cause stat drops like V-create. Set Details Maximum investment in Speed with a Hasty nature and Choice Scarf is used to outspeed or Speed tie with threats like +1 Mega Gyarados, +1 Porygon-Z, and +1 Volcarona. Maximum investment is made in Attack in order to maximize Victini's damage output. A Hasty nature is preferred over Naive to allow Victini to deal with Volcarona better. Victory Star increases the accuracy of V-create, Bolt Strike, and Blue Flare. Usage Tips Keep Stealth Rock off the field, as it limits Victini's pivoting capabilities. Choice Scarf Victini is a great revenge killer because it outspeeds most unboosted Pokemon and can hit them with its powerful V-create. However, the drop in its Speed and defenses after using V-create makes it easy to revenge kill or set up on, which forces it to switch out. Be wary of using V-create when there are Pursuit trappers, as they can take advantage of the -1 Defense to deal huge damage to Victini. Switching Victini in on entry hazards should be avoided to preserve its health and longevity. Keep Victini healthy, especially in the Bug and Steel matchups where it needs to check threats like Volcarona and Mega Scizor. Locking Victini into a coverage move can sometimes turn it into setup bait. For example, while it may seem that Blue Flare can be spammed against Bug teams, Volcarona can use Victini to set up if it locks itself into Blue Flare. Therefore, use Blue Flare to clean up Bug teams after Volcarona is gone. Victini can often be used as a lead and can scout the opponent's play with U-turn. U-turn should also be used to pivot out of checks like Porygon2 and Gastrodon. Although Victini's bulk is decent, it should avoid switching in on powerful attacks such as Tapu Koko's Thunderbolt and Scolipede's Megahorn. Keep Victini away from poison and paralysis; poison harms its longevity and limits its ability to pivot around, and paralysis halves its Speed, rendering it almost useless. Team Options Choice Scarf Victini is a staple pick on Psychic teams due to its ability to check Bug- and Steel-types as well as revenge kill. Jirachi is a great partner to Victini, as it can pivot into strong special attacks as well as check Rock-types like Nihilego. Jirachi can also set Stealth Rock, bring Victini in safely through a slow U-turn, and give Victini another chance to clean up with Wish. Mew can set Stealth Rock while being able to stallbreak and remove common checks to Victini such as Porygon2 and Quagsire. Double Dance Mew appreciates having Victini bring it in safely via U-turn and give it more opportunities to set up. In return, Mew can wallbreak with +2 Genesis Supernova and set Psychic Terrain, which protects Victini from priority moves like Sucker Punch. Celebi can switch into Water- and Ground-types easily. It can also absorb status thanks to its great ability in Natural Cure and set Stealth Rock. Slowbro can switch into and check many physical attackers that threaten Victini such as Terrakion and Rhyperior. With a Colbur Berry, it can additionally check Dark-types like Mega Sharpedo and Mega Gyarados with Thunder Wave and Grass Knot. Mega Slowbro and Victini can take out Steel teams more easily together. Mega Slowbro appreciates having Victini wear down the opposing team with V-create, as that allows it to set up and clean up more easily. Conversely, Mega Slowbro is a great switch-in to Knock Off for Victini. Deoxys-S can stack entry hazards such as Spikes and Stealth Rock to wear down the opposing team, making it easier for Victini to clean up. Latios and Mega Latias can get rid of Stealth Rock with Defog. They also provide a much-appreciated Ground immunity and switch-in to Water-types like Rotom-Wash. Mega Gardevoir and Mega Gallade are excellent wallbreakers that can weaken Victini's checks in addition to checking Dark-types. Furthermore, they can break through Poison's defensive core of Toxapex, Alolan Muk, and Mega Venusaur, allowing Victini to clean up with ease. Mega Alakazam is a good special attacker that can beat many of Victini's checks, such as Heatran and Kingdra, thanks to its Trace ability. Meloetta is a great check to Ghost-types like Alolan Marowak and Choice Scarf Gengar thanks to its Normal typing. It can also wallbreak and let Victini clean up more easily.

Moves Final Gambit allows Victini to easily trade itself for the removal of a crucial attacker or pivot from an opposing team, generally without much counterplay. V-create is an alternate source of damage that doesn't sacrifice Victini, but unfortunately, it lowers Victini's defenses and Speed, leaving it vulnerable to damage that could lower Final Gambit's effective power or even outright KO Victini. Bolt Strike acts as a strong coverage move to hit Water-types such as Tapu Fini and Volcanion, while U-turn rounds out the set, allowing Victini to easily pivot out of unfavorable situations. Set Details The given EV spread focuses on allowing Victini to effectively use Final Gambit: the HP investment gives Victini the same HP stat as fully invested Zapdos, and equivalently other base 90 HP foes, allowing Victini to OHKO it with Final Gambit. Meanwhile, its Speed is maximized to allow it to outspeed Choice Scarf Genesect to threaten it with a V-create. The remaining EVs are invested into Attack to get the most damage out of its other moves. Usage Tips Victini is most effectively used as a lead, with the capacity to efficiently trade itself for a key threat on the opposing side or to U-turn out if no viable target presents itself. However, if it doesn't trade itself off early-game, it should be played cautiously later on—generally, one should keep Victini's health high in order to preserve its damage output from Final Gambit, so it should be brought into play primarily off free switches or off the back of a slow U-turn or Volt Switch. In the same vein, Victini should generally be played to avoid chip damage from Stealth Rock or priority moves like Fake Out and Zygarde's Extreme Speed; though these might seem like sources of insignificant chip damage, Victini needs to be near or at full health in order to OHKO some of its key targets, including Zapdos and Landorus-T, with Final Gambit. Furthermore, when using its non-Final Gambit moves, Victini should be going for guaranteed KOs, since it doesn't want to risk taking unnecessary damage and hamper its Final Gambit damage. Finally, when using V-create, one should be wary of the stat drops the move causes, especially the Speed drop, which nullifies the Choice Scarf boost and may force Victini to leave the field and return later before it can pose a significant threat. Team Options Victini's best use is alongside an ally that needs to set up in some way, as it helps to alleviate the offensive pressure exerted on its partner by removing a key threat on the opposing side with Final Gambit. Good examples of such teammates include Dragon Dance Mega Salamence and Zygarde, which can easily get an important boost to chunk teams early-game or clean up late-game. Aurora Veil Alolan Ninetales is a more passive example of a partner that requires this setup opportunity, but it can nonetheless make use of it to ease other teammates' setup, conveniently aided by the free switch Victini creates after fainting from Final Gambit. Similarly, offensive Trick Room setters like Stakataka appreciate Victini as a more permanent solution to their threats, in the form of Final Gambit incapacitating a foe for the remainder of the match instead of just for a single turn. Allies like Tapu Fini that typically struggle with opposing Grass-types will also appreciate Victini's strong Fire-type STAB attacks.

Moves Supportive Victini has a pretty straightforward moveset with little need for variation. An attack like Blue Flare should be used at any given opportunity, and Assault Vest Victini is no exception. Victini is one of three Pokemon with access to Glaciate, which is essentially just a stronger Icy Wind. This allows Victini to provide its team with valuable speed control while also hitting the various Ice-weak Pokemon of the format, such as Landorus-T and Zygarde, for significant damage. U-turn lets Victini function as an effective pivot. Incinerate may seem like an odd choice at first, but it has incredible utility in a metagame full of Berries such as Sitrus and the various pinch Berries like Mago and Wiki. If Victini is instead holding an Iapapa Berry, it may opt for Protect. Set Details A Timid nature with the given Speed EVs allows Victini to outspeed all Deoxys-A after one Glaciate. 96 HP and 128 Special Defense EVs ensure that Assault Vest Victini will always survive two Earth Powers from standard bulky Landorus-T, which packs a Modest nature and 176 Special Attack EVs. Even without an Assault Vest, this spread allows Victini to take one Earth Power after taking Stealth Rock damage. As a consequence, Victini will always survive a Choice Band-boosted Thousand Arrows from Zygarde and almost always take two Stomping Tantrums from -1 Mega Metagross. The remaining EVs are dumped into Special Attack, which allows Victini to 2HKO the standard 252 HP / 28 SpD Landorus-T with Glaciate. With an Iapapa Berry equipped, Victini can receive a boost of recovery when it’s chipped low, also opening the door to run Protect and lessen the harm Stealth Rock can inflict. Usage Tips In general, Victini wants to come in on weak special attacks and use Glaciate once or twice before pivoting to a teammate that can effectively take advantage of the opponent's reduced Speed. If facing down Pokemon that typically hold a Berry, Incinerate is a great option for effectively removing a big chunk of their overall health. While it won't be scoring many KOs on its own, Blue Flare has acceptable damage output at worst and can allow Victini to prime opposing Pokemon for knockouts at the hands of its partners. Victini's nearly unique typing and above average bulk allow it to function as a very effective pivot into some very common Pokemon in the tier, such as Kartana and Kyurem-B. However, Victini's typing also burdens it with a weakness to such common attacks in Doubles OU as Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Knock Off, the last of which gets a special mention for removing Victini's important Assault Vest. That said, you must be selective about when to let Victini take the field; if it comes in at the wrong time, it can be crippled for the remainder of the game and lose most of its usefulness. In a similar vein, you must also be careful about letting Victini take Stealth Rock damage. Victini can still do its job from 75% of its health most of the time, but losing a quarter of its health multiple times severely hampers its staying power. Finally, Victini users must be very careful when facing Incineroar, which will take very little damage from any of Victini's attacks and can essentially switch into Victini for free and threaten with a powerful Knock Off. This means that it can be advantageous to use U-turn much more aggressively before opposing Incineroar are knocked out in order to prevent giving it a free turn. Team Options Pokemon that are naturally fast enough to take advantage of Glaciate Speed drops are great partners for Victini. While this pool of Pokemon is slightly narrower than that of other methods of speed control like Tailwind, there is still a wide selection of effective beneficiaries, such as Mega Metagross and Kyurem-B. Mega Metagross specifically can benefit a lot from having Assault Vest Victini as a partner, since it appreciates Victini's ability to roast troublesome Steel-types—just be careful about stacking Ground-type weaknesses. Pokemon weak to Grass-type attacks are also great partners for Victini, as Victini firmly handles the most common Grass-types in the tier, Kartana and Tapu Bulu. Thus, Victini is often seen with Tapu Fini, and the two create a strong core both offensively and defensively. Calm Mind Tapu Fini benefits from Glaciate, chip damage, Berry removal, and the elimination of one of its biggest checks in Kartana, while defensive Tapu Fini can keep Victini healthy with Heal Pulse. Grass-types make great partners for Victini due to their ability to check opposing Water-types like Tapu Fini and Milotic. Tapu Fini specifically can come in pretty easily on Victini and start setting up Calm Minds, so Pokemon like Kartana and Tapu Bulu can help to keep opposing Tapu Fini at bay. Both of these Pokemon also offer offensive options against Incineroar with their Fighting-type coverage moves, while Tapu Bulu is a very reliable switch-in to Ground-type Pokemon like Zygarde and Landorus-T. Victini also partners well with Intimidate users such as Landorus-T and Mega Manectric for a few reasons. Both of these Pokemon form a powerful pivoting core with Victini thanks to U-turn and Volt Switch while covering for Victini's uninvested Defense. Mega Manectric and Victini cast a wide net with their type coverage, always combining for Electric + Fire + Ice attacks between the two regardless of Mega Manectric's moveset. Mega Manectric's Snarl can also augment Victini's ability to sponge special attacks. Landorus-T, on the other hand, gets a special mention for its Ground-type immunity and ability to check Incineroar quite effectively. Mega Manectric and Landorus-T also both help offensively check Volcanion, which is one of Victini's best counters. Finally, Incineroar checks are mandatory on teams that carry Victini. A few previously mentioned Pokemon like Tapu Fini and Landorus-T fill this role well, but other Pokemon like Zygarde or Diancie take little damage from Incineroar's attacks and can fire back with powerful STAB moves.

Moves V-create is capable of dealing massive damage to neutral targets under harsh sun. Bolt Strike hits Blue Orb users that might attempt to switch into V-create or Blue Flare such as Golisopod and Skarmory. Blue Flare is able to better hit physical walls like Hippowdon. Glaciate hits Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Gliscor for super effective damage and can make Victini faster than switch-ins. Work Up enables Victini to hit even harder. Taunt shuts down Shuckle and helps Victini break certain Dragon-types, like Giratina without Dragon Tail. It also prevents defensive Pokemon such as Gliscor from recovering their health against Victini. U-turn is an option that allows Victini to pivot at the cost of missing out on coverage or utility. Set Details A Hasty nature is best for Victini's mixed attacker role. Red Orb lets Victini hit hard with V-create and Blue Flare thanks to the excellent stats boosts and Desolate Land given. An alternative spread of 160 HP / 252 Atk / 24 SpA / 72 Spe with a Lonely nature lets it beat Z-Geomancy Xerneas, taking an uninvested Moonblast after a drop from V-create, and makes it bulkier. Usage Tips Victini should be used aggressively, since its consistent checks are not common. Standard Fire switch-ins will often find themselves 3HKOed by its coverage. Despite its low PP, V-create is usually the safest option to use if in doubt thanks to its general power. Bolt Strike should be used in case of a predicted Blue Orb user switch-in, like Skarmory or Golisopod Blue Flare is better used for physical walls like Zapdos, Manectite Mew, Gliscor, and Hippowdon, as it's able to take advantage of their lower Special Defense and has a chance to burn them. It also doesn't drop Victini's Speed, allowing it to stay in and attack again. Work Up should be used when it's safe, such as on forced switches against Mew or Blue Orb users. If running Taunt, Victini can act as an anti-lead against Shuckle. Team Options While Victini breaks a lot of walls, it's not capable of doing it as easily if it gets chipped every time it comes in, so Defog support from teammates like Giratina and Arceus-Fairy is appreciated. Dragon-types wall Victini fairly easily, so any Pokemon that can threaten them out such as Xerneas, Tapu Lele, and Altarianite Zygarde are appreciated. Victini can also pair with a Blue Orb user, such as Kyogre, to create a core that pressures Dragon-types. Magearna is an exceptional teammate to Victini, as it is capable of taking advantage of the switch-ins that Victini forces and not many Pokemon are capable of walling both. Ground-types like Lucarionite Zygarde, Gliscor, and Arceus-Ground are good teammates, as they are capable of pivoting into a weakened Primal Groudon and deal with it.

Moves V-create is Victini's strongest STAB move and turns Victini into a wallbreaker. The sheer power of V-create lets Victini OHKO or at least weaken most Pokemon, such as 2HKOing Mew and OHKOing Zapdos after Stealth Rock damage. Bolt Strike is used to KO Flying- and Water-type Pokemon like Gyarados, Togekiss, and Azumarill. Zen Headbutt is Victini's secondary STAB move and allows it to beat Fighting- and Poison-type Pokemon such as Infernape, Terrakion, and Dragalge. Zen Headbutt is also useful for cleaning up late-game, as it does not have any drawbacks, unlike V-create. U-turn lets Victini pivot and gain momentum, and it is also useful to lure in Dark-type Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Hydreigon and then switch out. Set Details Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allows Victini to outspeed Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Speed tie with other Choice Scarf-using base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Jirachi. Maximum Attack investment allows Victini to maximize the power of its moves. Victory Star is used to increase the accuracy of V-create, Bolt Strike, and Zen Headbutt. Usage Tips Victini can be used early-game to scout and pivot out with U-turn. Victini functions as an excellent revenge killer due to its Choice Scarf, which lets it outpace and KO most Pokemon that are weak to its STAB moves. V-create turns Victini into a fantastic wallbreaker and can even help Victini break through a few walls due to its sheer power, which lets its teammates clean up later. Against some setup sweepers that boost their Speed, try to switch Victini in as soon as possible. For example, if an opposing Gyarados is allowed to set up Dragon Dance twice, it will outspeed and OHKO Victini. Try to avoid status effects like poison and paralysis, as they can heavily hinder Victini's chances to revenge kill. Even though Victini can function as a wallbreaker, it has a hard time actually switching into walls, as it hates status, and has a more difficult time breaking physical walls such as Hippowdon and Porygon2. Victini can get worn down very easily if Stealth Rock is on the field. This also hinders its ability to U-turn in and out freely, so removing them before bringing in Victini is a must. Due to V-create's stat drops, Victini needs to be careful of locking itself into it. Setup sweepers that resist V-create such as Mega Gyarados and Belly Drum Azumarill can easily take advantage of Victini once it's locked into it. Similarly, you need to be wary of being locked into Bolt Strike, as this gives Ground-types such as Diggersby, Landorus, and Gliscor a free switch in. Team Options Torkoal is a reliable entry hazard remover for Victini. Torkoal can also set up its own Stealth Rock to deal chip damage throughout the game and acts as a defensive backbone for Victini. Mega Charizard Y is another good entry hazard remover and provides a Ground immunity. Mega Charizard Y works exceptionally well with Victini due to its great offensive stats, which let it take out counters to Victini such as Slowbro and Swampert, and its ability to set up Drought for Victini. Under the sun, Victini turns into an excellent wallbreaker. Volcanion provides a Water immunity and can cripple Pokemon with Steam Eruption burns. Volcanion can also KO and threaten Ground- and Rock-type Pokemon that normally threaten Victini. Victini can U-turn into Volcanion and Mega Charizard Y, both of which take great advantage of being able to break down Victini's switch-ins. Heatran can be used as an alternative Stealth Rock user, cripple defensive Pokemon that wall Victini with Toxic, and also help Victini against Fairy-type Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Gardevoir, and Togekiss. Rotom-H forms a VoltTurn core with Victini; helps Victini against Flying-type Pokemon like Landorus-T, which would otherwise beat Victini; and provides a Ground immunity. Volcarona works exceptionally well with Victini, as it appreciates Victini's wallbreaking ability to help it clean up easier late-game. On the flip side, Volcarona can take out bulky Psychic- and Dark-types that could wall Victini. Infernape can run a number of roles to better suit Victini. Infernape turns into a fantastic counter to Dark- and Rock-type Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Bisharp, and Cradily with an offensive Life Orb set, while it can also run a more supportive set with Stealth Rock and Taunt to deal with Pokemon that could wall Victini. Infernape also has access to Mach Punch, which lets it pick off threats weakened by Victini. Entei functions as a great wallbreaker and late-game cleaner, threatening Flying- and Fairy-type Pokemon for Victini that beat Victini such as Landorus-T and Diancie. Like Infernape, Entei too has access to a priority move in Extreme Speed.

Moves V-create is Victini's main STAB move, and due to the boosts from Tough Claws or Desolate Land, it hits any Pokemon that doesn't resist it very hard. Bolt Strike is a good way to get around Water-types such as Manaphy, Suicune, and Vaporeon. U-turn is a way to switch out of walls that Victini can't beat and to deal good damage to Tyranitar if not using Brick Break. Trick can be used to cripple foes that can take Victini's attacks, including Dragon-types such as Zygarde, Latias, and Goodra. Brick Break can be used over Trick to hit Tyranitar and get a stronger hit on Flash Fire and Primordial Sea Steel-types. Alternatively, Grass Knot can be used to break through Tyranitar, Intimidate Hippowdon, Zygarde, and Volt Absorb Suicune. Set Details Choice Scarf fixes Victini's biggest flaw in its average Speed. Full investment in Attack and Speed allows Victini to hit as hard as possible and outspeed Gengar, Latias, and Latios. The last 4 EVs should be placed in any stat other than HP to switch into entry hazards an additional time. A Jolly nature is preferred for as much speed as possible, but Adamant is usable for more power. Tough Claws gives a power boost to Victini's moves, making up for its average Attack, while Desolate Land is usable for a much-needed Water immunity and a huge boost to just V-create. Tinted Lens gives Victini a way to break past its checks and counters. Usage Tips It's best to use this Victini as a revenge killer due to the Speed boost from Choice Scarf, outspeeding Pokemon in the base 110-125 Speed tiers. It can also usable as a late-game sweeper once its checks and counters have been weakened or removed, or as an early-game pivot with U-turn. Make sure Victini takes as little damage as possible in order to revenge kill as often as it needs to, so bring it in after a teammate faints or on weak or resisted attacks. Team Options Wallbreakers such as Heracross, Latios, and Gengar can weaken the opposing team so that Victini can clean up. Slow pivots such as Zapdos can bring in Victini safely with a slow Volt Switch. As a bonus, Zapdos can also deter entry hazards from being set up in the first place with Magic Bounce or remove them with Defog. Spinners work as well, such as Mega Blastoise and Starmie, both of which can wallbreak if needed.

Moves Blue Flare is Victini's primary STAB move and will heavily dent most Pokemon that don't resist it thanks to the Sheer Force boost. Thunderbolt is used to take on Water-types such as Vaporeon and Suicune, but Thunder can be used if you'd rather give Victini a more powerful Electric-type move. Focus Blast is used to heavily damage Flash Fire Steel-types. The last slot is a toss-up between two moves. Glaciate hits Dragon-types such as Latios, Latias, Zygarde as well as Flash Fire Grass-types, while U-turn is an option to preserve momentum. Set Details Full Special Attack and Speed investment allows Victini to hit as hard as possible and outspeed as many Pokemon as possible. The last 4 EVs should not be in HP to let Victini switch into entry hazards one additional time. A Timid nature is preferred to avoid getting revenge killed by Pokemon in the base 90-95 Speed tier, but Modest can be used for more power. Sheer Force gives Victini a boost to its attacks with secondary effects, and Life Orb provides an additional, recoil-free boost to all such attacks. Usage Tips This Victini makes for a great lure for physical walls such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory, as many people expect Victini to be a physical attacker. Keeping entry hazards off the field is a top priority due to the fact that Victini will be switching in and out a lot. U-turn should be used to conserve momentum against special walls Victini can't beat and to deal decent damage to Tyranitar. Victini can switch into weaker attacks due to its decent bulk as long as entry hazards aren't up. Team Options Entry hazard removal is a top priority due to Victini's massive entry hazard weakness, preferably from Rapid Spin users such as Starmie and Blastoise because Victini needs entry hazard damage to attain OHKOs. However, Defoggers such as Skarmory and Zapdos also work well. Magnet Pull users such as Infernape and Heatran can trap and remove Flash Fire Steel-types. Similarly, Adaptability Tyranitar can trap and KO special walls such as Goodra and Meloetta with Pursuit. Physical attackers such as Doublade and Skarmory greatly benefit from the luring and removal of physical walls. Entry hazard setters such as Hippowdon, which can reliably switch into Rock-types and can set up entry hazards multiple times and Deoxys-S, which is almost guaranteed to set up entry hazards thanks to its blistering Speed, work well with Victini to help it attain OHKOs it normally wouldn't. Fighting-types such as Lucario can come in on Choiced Dark-types such as Choice Band Tyranitar, which will Pursuit trap Victini when given the chance.

The last 4 EVs should be placed anywhere except HP in order to be able to switch into entry hazards an additional time. A Jolly nature is used to outspeed everything up to the Pokemon in the fairly crowded base 90-95 Speed tiers, though Adamant can be used instead for more power. Tough Claws boosts the power of all of Victini's moves. Alternatively, Desolate Land can be used to give Victini a Water immunity and a massive power boost to V-create. Tinted Lens can also be used if you want Victini to get a harder hit on Steel-types with Flash Fire and break through its traditional checks such as Zygarde and other Dragon-types. Choice Band is the preferred item for maximum power, especially considering that V-create's stat drops often mean that Victini won't have the time to switch moves, but Flame Plate can be used if you want to allow Victini to switch moves and still boost the Power of V-create; as a bonus, it can also bluff Choice Band. Usage Tips This Victini is best used as a mid-game wallbreaker, breaking through walls such as all variants of Suicune, some Manaphy variants and-non Flash Fire variants of Doublade paving the way for a teammate to sweep. It is also usable as a late-game sweeper once its checks and counters have been weakened or removed, or as an early-game pivot with U-turn. After using V-create, though, it is very vulnerable to priority users such as Gale Wings Braviary and Tough Claws Lucario, so you should switch Victini out after using the move. Due to its decent bulk, it can actually switch into some foes as long as entry hazards aren't up. Team Options Entry hazard removers, are almost required because Victini is weak to Stealth Rock and will switch in and out a lot. Because it needs entry hazards to attain OHKOs, spinners such as Starmie and Mega Blastoise are optimal, but Defoggers such as Skarmory and Zapdos can also work. Magic Bounce users such as Mandibuzz, Cresselia, and Mega Diancie can even deter entry hazards from being set up in the first place. Physical sweepers such as Swords Dance Lucario appreciate walls being weakened so they can come in and clean up. Fighting-types such as Heracross can also come in on Dark-types, especially Choice-locked ones such as Choice Band Tyranitar, which tends to Pursuit trap Victini. Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S, which can be used as a suicide lead to all but guarantee the setup of entry hazards, and Hippowdon, who can switch into Rock-type moves and has good longevity, can help Victini attain OHKOs on walls such as Ferrothorn. Bulky Steel-types such as Doublade and Intimidate Skarmory can absorb powerful priority moves such as Gale Wings Brave Bird and Tough Claws Extreme Speed. Magnet Pull users such as Heatran and Infernape can remove Flash Fire Steel-types.

Bolt Strike provides solid neutral coverage alongside V-create, hitting Water-types such as Blastoise and Slowbro for massive amounts of damage. U-turn takes advantage of Victini's limited counterplay and the amount of switches it forces, helping to get teammates like Raikou and Kingdra in while also chipping down V-create switch-ins like Snorlax and Rhyperior. Trick cripples walls such as Slowbro and Gligar, but Zen Headbutt is a safe midground option in most situations thanks to its solid neutral coverage. Set Details Choice Band maximizes Victini's damage dealing capability and potentially allows it to cripple an unsuspecting wall if running Trick. An Adamant nature is a possibility to push Victini's wallbreaking powers to the limit, but it misses out on outspeeding foes like Roserade and Speed tying with Timid Zapdos. Team Options Pivots such as Choice Scarf Mienshao, Gligar, and Volt Switch Zapdos make excellent partners, as they can reliably get Victini in to throw off a strong attack to chip down defensive staples such as Rhyperior. Setup sweepers such as Cofagrigus, Virizion, and Calm Mind Raikou also can take advantage of the offensive pressure induced by Victini on Snorlax or Hitmontop and its U-turn support. Blastoise and Hitmontop also deserve special mention, as they can remove entry hazards for Victini, allowing for more opportunities to wallbreak. Entry hazard setters like Rhyperior, Bronzong, and Spikes Roserade can aid Victini in breaking through sturdier walls such as Druddigon and Slowbro. Switch-ins for Ground- and Water-type attacks like Slowking, Tangrowth, and Zapdos are also great teammates, especially after Victini has used V-create.

Moves V-create's extreme power aids Victini in revenge killing dangerous offensive threats such as Raikou and Meloetta. Bolt Strike is Victini's best move to hit Water-types like Blastoise, Slowbro, and Kingdra in addition to Flying-types such as Togekiss. Additionally, Bolt Strike's high-Base Power makes it a great neutral coverage option in situations where using V-create would be disadvantageous. U-turn maintains momentum, taking full advantage of forced switches into walls like Rhyperior and Snorlax due to the threat of V-create. Trick hamstrings common switch-ins such as Rhyperior and Blastoise while also potentially gaining Victini a more useful item. Flare Blitz can be used instead as a stat drop-free Fire-type move, though. Set Details Choice Scarf allows Victini to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame and also slower Choice Scarf users such as Heracross and Rotom-C, allowing it to effectively check threats like Virizion and offensive Zapdos. Team Options Choice Scarf Victini's ability to clean late-game and revenge kill the vast majority of the metagame means that entry hazard removal from Blastoise or Hitmontop is imperative to pair with it. Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Raikou and Choice Band Heracross appreciate Victini's ability to pivot them in on passive defensive threats and can open holes for a late-game sweep. Sweepers like Mismagius and Swords Dance Virizion similarly appreciate Victini getting them in for a safe chance to set up and impairing threats like Snorlax with Trick.

Moves V-create is ludicrously strong, being able to take out most neutral targets in one or two hits. However, Blue Flare is a slightly weaker STAB option with the benefits of hitting physical walls such as Druddigon and Qwilfish harder, no stat drops, and a nifty burn chance. Grass Knot covers most Fire-resistant foes, such as Rock- and Water-types in Rhyperior and Blastoise. U-turn takes advantage of the threat of Victini to get teammates like Rotom-C in freely. Psychic is Victini's best neutral move for foes that resist V-create like Druddigon and Kingdra. Thunder decimates more sturdy Water-types such as Milotic, Slowbro, and Suicune, but it suffers from poor accuracy and can be redundant with Grass Knot. Focus Blast is also an option to hit Snorlax and Scrafty harder but also suffers from accuracy issues in addition to having a very limited set of targets. Set Details Expert Belt synergizes well with Victini's coverage, crucially securing an OHKO on Rhyperior after Stealth Rock and guaranteeing a 2HKO on Blastoise after Stealth Rock with Grass Knot. However, Charcoal can be used to slightly boost the power of Victini's Fire-type attack while maintaining the ability to bluff a Choice Band set if using V-create. A Naive nature should be used if using V-create. Team Options Entry hazard support from the likes of Roserade, Druddigon, and Nidoqueen is absolutely necessary to fully use Victini's ability to blow past common defensive checks such as Slowbro and Rotom-H with its coverage. The likes of Sharpedo, Virizion, and Durant also all appreciate this set's ability to massively dent physical walls like Nidoqueen, Hitmontop, and Swampert. Blastoise can remove entry hazards, giving Victini more opportunities to wallbreak while also comfortably switching into most Water-type attacks from Suicune, opposing Blastoise, and Swampert. Gligar is also a good partner, as it can make up for Victini's deficiencies as a Fighting-resistant Pokemon while also serving as a switch-in to common Ground- and Rock-type attacks from the likes of Flygon, Rhyperior, and Choice Scarf Heracross. Tornadus deserves a special mention, as Bulk Up variants can clean up after Victini creates holes in the opposition, and Life Orb sets can even set Tailwind to help offset V-create's Speed drop.

Victini often finds it difficult to actually sweep due to the Speed-centric Ubers metagame as well as V-create's unfortunate Speed drop side effect. However, these hindrances actually become advantages when Trick Room is brought into play. Although 100 base Speed seems fast for Trick Room, V-create's Speed drop actually works as a buff under this field effect. Combined with Victini's sheer power, it can easily wreck teams as well as support Trick Room teams very well. V-create is still Victini's go-to move for causing insane amounts of pain to its foes—things that are faster than Victini under Trick Room, such as Ferrothorn and Chansey, are obliterated by it, making them non-issues. Everything else not resisting it is utterly destroyed, and even Palkia and Reshiram are both 2HKOed after eating damage from Stealth Rock. Bolt Strike is once again there to wreck Kyogre's life, although this time Victini has the advantage of always outspeeding it under Trick Room. Brick Break stops Tyranitar from ruining the sweep while still 2HKOing Heatran, although without Stealth Rock damage, bulky Heatran sets can avoid the 2HKO with Leftovers. With 252 Attack EVs and a Brave nature, Victini reaches its maximum power. As Victini wants to be as slow as possible for Trick Room, a 0 IV in Speed as well as a speed reducing nature (Brave) is necessary. Victini reaches 403 HP with 248 EVs, giving it plenty of bulk and the ability to switch into Stealth Rock up to four times. The rest of the EVs go into Defense to protect Victini against priority attacks. Life Orb is the preferred item, as it affords Victini both massive power and the freedom to switch moves. The ideal partners for this set are Dialga, Palkia, and Groudon; all three of them work excellently in Trick Room. Groudon provides sunlight and can abuse Trick Room as well thanks to its sub-par Speed making it faster than nearly everything. Dialga can set up Trick Room reliably and plow through many of Victini's checks with its titanic hits. It can also cover all of Victini's weaknesses save Ground-type attacks. Palkia can set up and abuse Trick Room, and it has the added bonus of being able to come in easily on Kyogre. If enemy Palkia or Reshiram get a chance to come in and threaten Victini with Draco Meteor, Scizor and Bronzong are good choices to take the assault.

Although 448 Attack may not seem like much in Ubers, especially considering that Victini needs a Choice Band to reach such strength, the sheer might of V-create more than makes up for it. Backed by sun, V-create is so mighty that it stands a chance at OHKOing 252 HP / 252 Def Impish Groudon after it takes damage from Stealth Rock and one layer of Spikes—quite impressive as Groudon is one of the most physically bulky Pokemon in the game. Even Palkia and Reshiram, who both 4x resist V-create, are always 2HKOed by V-create from this set after taking Stealth Rock damage. As V-create is Victini's main form of offense, the other three moveslots are dedicated to taking down what V-create cannot. Bolt Stike OHKOes 4 HP / 0 Def Kyogre after it takes damage from Stealth Rock once and will 2HKO all other forms of the leviathan, while also leaving a huge dent in Palkia. U-turn is still useful for scouting out the nature of Victini's counters and for maintaining offensive momentum. Brick Break is strong enough to OHKO Tyranitar with no problems while also 2HKOing most variants of Heatran, who cannot outspeed Victini without a Choice Scarf. Flare Blitz is also present to have a consistent STAB attack, though the lack of Speed provided by a Choice Scarf coupled with recoil damage makes it a less useful sweeping option. Because of this, Brick Break is generally preferred. The only four things that can take a Choice Band-boosted V-create more than twice are Heatran, Tyranitar, Kyogre, and Giratina. Out of these, the first and second are wrecked by Brick Break, whereas the third is zapped off the planet by Bolt Strike, so only Giratina can reliably take on this set. Dialga once again works well, and Darkrai and Arceus-Dark are also fantastic Giratina counters. Palkia and Arceus-Grass are also recommended for dealing with Kyogre and Tyranitar. Palkia is also valuable against Heatran thanks to its STAB super effective Water-type attacks. Groudon and Forretress are also needed for reasons discussed in the Choice Scarf set. Palkia and Reshiram are still very dangerous as well. Although they can only switch in on Victini once if Stealth Rock is up, they can still handle the first attack and then blast Victini to pieces with Draco Meteor before it can make another move. Arceus-Rock backed with sun support is a solid answer to both of these threats. Playing with this set is a lot like using a real nuclear bomb. It is extremely powerful, but the fallout is very dangerous. In Victini's case, this fallout is the reduced defenses and Speed that come with Victini using V-create, so it is very prone to getting revenge killed by nearly everything. Pokemon that can take attacks that prey on its weaknesses to Water-, Ground-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Rock-type moves are necessary. Arceus-Grass handles Water-, Ground-, and most Rock-type attacks very well, Groudon doesn't care about any Rock-type, and Steel-types do well against Ghost- and Dark-type moves. Steel-types can also take Dragon-type moves such as Draco Meteor that Pokemon such as Reshiram and Palkia may use against it.

Victini possesses several qualities that make it a fine user of a Choice Scarf. For one, it reaches an impressive 492 Speed when equipped with said item, allowing it to outpace any Pokemon slower than Jolly Rayquaza that has used Dragon Dance once. Victini's typing is also useful. It can switch into nearly every move the standard Mewtwo possesses except for the rarely used Shadow Ball and destroy it with a sun-boosted V-create. A Choice Scarf also allows Victini to retain a decent amount of Speed after a single use of V-create, possibly giving it a chance to cause some more damage. These qualities all make Victini a superb revenge killer that can take out menacing threats such as Mewtwo, Darkrai, Shaymin-S, and most types of Arceus quite easily. V-create is Victini's move of choice—backed by harsh sunlight and STAB, it reaches a crippling 405 Base Power. This is enough to always OHKO 4 HP / 0 Def Mewtwo without any prior damage and cause insane amounts of damage to anything else that does not resist it. Bolt Strike strikes down Kyogre that are normally eager to come in on Victini, easily 2HKOing 4 HP / 0 Def variants and even OHKOing 87% of the time after Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes. U-turn is another incredibly useful move for Victini. With it, Victini can pepper its counters for a bit of damage, switch to a more suited ally, and maintain offensive momentum. Hidden Power Ice rounds off Victini's coverage nicely by enabling it to revenge kill Dragon Dance Rayquaza and Garchomp, as both take little damage from all of Victini's other moves. However, this leaves Victini without a consistent STAB move due to V-create's nasty drawback of lowering its defenses and Speed by one stage. For this reason, Flare Blitz can be used instead. Although much weaker than V-create, it is still quite powerful in the sunlight and can be used to clean up weakened teams nicely. That said, it is only recommended for use if your team has plenty of coverage against Rayquaza and Garchomp. The EVs are very basic, with Victini's Attack and Speed maximized for the best revenge killing potential. A Naive nature should be used if running Hidden Power Ice so as to not weaken the move. When not running Hidden Power Ice, a Jolly Nature should be used so Victini's defenses aren't needlessly lowered. When using Victini, don't ever leave home without Groudon. It provides the glorious sun, which is necessary for Victini's attacks to pack a stronger punch. Groudon can further help out Victini by setting up Stealth Rock, making revenge killing easier. Also, it counters Tyranitar, who otherwise comes in effortlessly and crushes Victini with its powerful STAB Crunch. As Victini is weak to all forms of entry hazards and will most likely be needing to switch quite a bit, Rapid Spin support will be necessary. Forretress is perfect for this role, as it can also set up more entry hazards to help Victini smash through enemies. It also baits Fire-type attacks more easily than a block of cheese baits a mouse, giving Victini some easy switch in opportunities. Victini is greatly troubled by foes that can take V-create without issue. Kyogre kills the sunlight with Drizzle and rains on Victini's parade with the threat of a STAB Surf. Palkia and Reshiram both 4x resist V-create, so they can easily hop in and blast Victini away with a STAB Draco Meteor. Trying to use Victini to break Giratina is like trying to beat down a truck with a toothpick—it won't happen. Giratina can tank Victini's hits all day while obliterating it with Dragon Claw. Giratina-O doesn't take V-create nearly as well as its bulkier cousin, but it possesses super effective STAB priority in Shadow Sneak to easily swat Victini away. Heatran's Flash Fire ability also allows it to take V-creates with no repercussions whatsoever. Furthermore, none of Victini's other moves will really hurt the giant lava beast. Palkia and Arceus-Grass are the premier answers to Kyogre—both can switch in fairly comfortably and blast it apart with super effective hits. Giratina and Giratina-O are also easily brought down with Dialga, who can switch in without difficulty and take the ghostly dragons apart with its own STAB Draco Meteor. Palkia and Reshiram are unfortunately difficult to handle, but Arceus-Rock can perform well against both of them. Palkia cannot KO it as the sun will weaken Palkia's STAB Water-type attacks, and Reshiram cannot win either unless it packs Focus Blast.
