Miraidon Movesets & Wettbewerbs-Sets

Set Details Assault Vest Miraidon is meant to serve a more flexible, defensive role in contrast to standard Choice Specs sets. Due to the introduction of a second Restricted Pokemon in Regulation I, it doesn't need to function as a team's main source of offense, meaning that it's able to use the Assault Vest to function as a bulky supportive option as opposed to offensive Choice Specs sets. Snarl is chosen in order to further neuter special attackers and allow Miraidon to apply pressure to opposing Restricted Pokemon through damage reduction in conjunction with the added bulk from its Assault Vest. Volt Switch allows Miraidon to act as a bulky pivot able to take hits from faster special attackers like Calyrex-S and reposition. Assault Vest augments Miraidon's ability to take on special attacking Restricted Pokemon like Calyrex-S, Kyogre, Lunala, and opposing Miraidon. Assault Vest also lets Miraidon position more flexibly than Choice-locked sets while letting Miraidon function as a more defensive Restricted Pokemon, with the Special Defense boost allowing Miraidon to live two Life Orb Astral Barrages and three unboosted Astral Barrages from Calyrex-S. 20 Speed EVs are used to outspeed Kyogre and Groudon, while 212 Special Attack EVs lets Miraidon secure OHKOs on Pokemon like Incineroar, Calyrex-S, and Zamazenta-C with Tera Electric Electro Drift. The remaining EVs are placed into Miraidon's HP and defenses to maximize its general bulk. Tera Electric is used to allow Miraidon to make up for some of the damage lost from using Assault Vest, with it being instrumental in Miraidon's ability to secure key OHKOs on Pokemon like the aforementioned Incineroar. It also greatly aids Miraidon defensively by removing its weaknesses to opposing Miraidon's Draco Meteor and Dazzling Gleam, as well as Ice-type attacks from Calyrex-I and Chien-Pao. Teambuilding Trading a lot of its damage output by dropping Choice Specs can often leave Miraidon lacking in damage against key threats. Rillaboom is able to take on Miraidon's hits and change its Terrain, and Iron Hands is able to take hits even better from Assault Vest Miraidon, with Draco Meteor doing a maximum of half of its HP and leaving Miraidon weakened and out of position. Assault Vest Miraidon functions excellently as a supporting piece alongside Trick Room-focused Restricted Pokemon like Calyrex-I and Lunala, which are able to help it turn the tables on faster Restricted Pokemon like Koraidon and opposing Miraidon, with Calyrex-I being able to threaten an OHKO on Rillaboom and opposing Miraidon and Lunala being able to take on Iron Hands and Koraidon. Electric Terrain is able to block Amoonguss and Brute Bonnet's Spore while giving Lunala a Defense boost from Electric Seed. Miraidon greatly appreciates Grimmsnarl's dual screen support, allowing it to even further outlast opposing Restricted Pokemon like the Calyrex formes as well as Chien-Pao, while Urshifu-R compliments Miraidon by applying immediate pressure on Terapagos and Chien-Pao. Incineroar is able to supplement Miraidon's physical bulk via Intimidate and Will-O-Wisp, helping it take physical attacks from Chien-Pao, Zamazenta-C, Life Orb Koraidon, non-Tera Fire Calyrex-I, and Iron Hands and allowing Miraidon to retaliate for significant damage. Incineroar's STAB moves are also very useful to Miraidon, as they damage key threats like Rillaboom, Chien-Pao, and the Calyrex formes, putting them into range of Miraidon's attacks.

Set Details Choice Scarf Miraidon is a fast and deadly attacker, pivoting around the battlefield and dealing good damage to top Pokemon such as Calyrex-S, Ho-Oh, and Koraidon while also setting Electric Terrain to deny sleep moves from Amoonguss, Brute Bonnet, and Smeargle. Volt Switch is amazing in helping Miraidon pivot and chip foes in the process. Snarl allows for damage mitigation from special attackers like Calyrex-S, Lunala, and opposing Miraidon. Dazzling Gleam can be run over Snarl to deal decent damage against foes like Iron Hands and Raging Bolt, although Snarl is generally preferred for its versatility. Choice Scarf allows Miraidon to outspeed the majority of the format, only losing to Booster Energy Iron Bundle and Flutter Mane while beating out some of the fastest Pokemon, including Calyrex-S and Choice Scarf Urshifu-R. Tera Electric lets Miraidon deal more damage with Electro Drift and Volt Switch, notably letting Miraidon OHKO Farigiraf and Calyrex-S with Electro Drift. Teambuilding While Choice Scarf Miraidon moves before a majority of the metagame, it lacks the damage output of Choice Specs sets. Like Choice Specs variants, Choice Scarf Miraidon struggles to break through bulky Electric-resistant foes such as Rillaboom and Amoonguss. With the power drop from forgoing Choice Specs, Miraidon misses KOs on many bothersome Pokemon, notably missing the OHKO on Tera Fire Koraidon and Calyrex-I with Electro Drift. Calyrex-I is a great offensive partner for Miraidon, threatening the aforementioned Electric-resistant Pokemon like Amoonguss that would otherwise stop Miraidon in its tracks. Miraidon can help out Calyrex-I by beating Water-types that resist Glacial Lance like Kyogre and Urshifu-R. Zamazenta-C is another great partner, using Wide Guard to defend Miraidon from Precipice Blades and Glacial Lance from Groudon and opposing Calyrex-I, respectively, while also spreading good damage to special walls such as Assault Vest Rillaboom and Iron Hands. Farigiraf not only is able to boost Miraidon's damage with Helping Hand but also blocks Fake Out with Armor Tail and either sets up or reverses Trick Room. Miraidon can also set up Electric Terrain for Farigiraf, denying Spore from Amoonguss and Brute Bonnet while also activating Farigiraf's Electric Seed. Pokemon like Iron Hands, Ogerpon-C, and Volcarona are able to create openings for Miraidon to safely attack with Fake Out, Follow Me, and Rage Powder, respectively, and all of them fend off strong attackers that threaten Miraidon, notably Calyrex-I.

Set Details Miraidon uses its high Speed and Special Attack to deal huge amounts of damage to almost the entire metagame. Miraidon's high damage output allows it to threaten to OHKO opposing Restricted Pokemon such as the Calyrex formes, Koraidon, and Kyogre, forcing defensive play around it. Volt Switch gives Miraidon the option to pivot out, dealing good chip damage while also getting an ally into a more advantageous position. Dazzling Gleam gives Miraidon a spread damage option while threatening the Dragon-types that resist Volt Switch and Electro Drift. Choice Specs boosts Miraidon's damage even further. The damage boost from Choice Specs when paired with a Modest nature allows Miraidon to OHKO non-specially defensive Calyrex-I with Draco Meteor or Electro Drift in Electric Terrain and Calyrex-S with Draco Meteor even if Electric Terrain isn't active. A Modest nature guarantees that Tera Fairy Dazzling Gleam OHKOes all Miraidon not running an Assault Vest, while a Timid Nature lets Miraidon outspeed all Zamazenta-C and gives it the best chance to outspeed opposing Miraidon. Tera Fairy boosts Dazzling Gleam's damage while also granting Miraidon an immunity to Dragon-type attacks from opposing Miraidon and Raging Bolt. Teambuilding Miraidon is very hard to check defensively, so most counterplay tries to outspeed and threaten it with an OHKO or a large amount of damage. Chien-Pao ties Miraidon in Speed and threatens to hit it for super effective damage while removing Electric Terrain with Ice Spinner. Calyrex-I threatens Miraidon once Trick Room has been set up. Rillaboom is a nuisance for Miraidon, resisting Volt Switch and Electro Drift while overriding Miraidon's Electric Terrain. Incineroar helps into Chien-Pao and Calyrex-I, as Intimidate and Parting Shot reduce Chien-Pao's damage and Will-O-Wisp is able to weaken even Clear Amulet Calyrex-I. Farigiraf also pairs well with Miraidon. Since Miraidon is unable to use Protect, Farigiraf can block Fake Out and boost Miraidon's damage even further with Helping Hand, letting it OHKO Rillaboom with Draco Meteor. Iron Hands pairs well with Farigiraf to give Miraidon teams a Trick Room mode. Miraidon also activates Iron Hand's Quark Drive, boosting its damage. Iron Hands can use Fake Out to give Miraidon a chance to attack without having to worry about taking a hit in return. Grimmsnarl and Whimsicott can provide speed control for Miriadon with Thunder Wave and Tailwind, respectively, while also providing damage reduction through Light Screen from both and Reflect from Grimmsnarl. Whimsicott can also use Encore to punish foes that use Protect in front of Miraidon's offensive pressure. For Restricted Pokemon partners, Calyrex-I threatens the Grass-, Dragon-, and Ground-types that resist or are immune to Miraidon's Electric-type attacks. Ho-Oh threatens to OHKO Rillaboom and sets Tailwind for Miraidon, allowing it to outspeed the entire metagame if they don't have their own Tailwind set. Lunala pairs well with Miraidon as a bulky Trick Room setter that punishes faster foes that try to outspeed and threaten Miraidon.

Life Orb Miraidon is a potent setup sweeper, leveraging its great power to unleash incredible damage. Agility allows Miraidon to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. Electro Drift hits most of the tier neutrally and notably OHKOes Zacian-C, Calyrex-S, and Ho-Oh, as well as OHKOing Arceus formes after two layers of Spikes. Solar Beam gives Miraidon a way of hitting Ting-Lu super effectively, though it is hindered by requiring Koraidon's sun. Dragon Pulse hits all Dragon-types in the tier for super effective damage while giving an alternative to chip Ting-Lu. However, due to Miraidon's poor longevity because of Life Orb recoil damage and a vulnerability to entry hazard damage, it can't afford to switch in frequently early in the game. Additionally, an opponent could predict Miraidon's moves and constantly switch to a resisted Pokemon to stall out Electric Terrain. Tera Grass ensures an OHKO on Ting-Lu with Solar Beam after minor chip damage and ensures Miraidon's safe setup against foes such as Eternatus, Miraidon, and Ting-Lu if it doesn't use Whirlwind. Miraidon's EV spread allows it to outspeed the fastest unboosted Pokemon in the tier, Choice Scarf Calyrex-S, after using Agility. Agility Miraidon is primarily used on two types of teams—hyper offense and bulky offense—as a late-game sweeper once other attackers wear down its checks. On bulky offense, it also has a surprise factor, since an offensive pivot set is much more common on such teams, and an unexpected Agility can quickly turn the tide of a game. However, due to Miraidon's issues with longevity and weakness to entry hazard damage, bulky offense teams using it often run Pokemon such as Magic Bounce Hatterene to stave off hazards or powerful attackers like Choice Specs Kyogre to apply pressure on opposing hazard setters. Miraidon lures in and does great damage to Ting-Lu, one of Calyrex-S's best checks, helping enable a Nasty Plot sweep. Agility Miraidon also lures in Arceus-Ground, which takes a great deal of damage from Solar Beam, and opens up Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Koraidon, which no longer has to worry about Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground using Tera Fairy to set up on it. Similarly, Miraidon's ability to significantly chip Arceus-Fairy when combined with entry hazards helps Koraidon overwhelm and KO it. Miraidon struggles with Ting-Lu before Terastallizing due to the latter's great natural bulk and Electric immunity, and Choice Scarf Koraidon's Outrage threatens to OHKO Miraidon before it uses Agility. Therefore, Arceus-Fairy, Ho-Oh, and Landorus-T are great partners to Agility Miraidon, leveraging their excellent defensive typings and stats to switch into Ting-Lu and Koraidon effectively. Landorus-T's and Choice Scarf Koraidon's U-turns also provide a safe switch in opportunity for Agility Miraidon. Furthermore, Landorus-T checks Zacian-C, which otherwise outspeeds and threatens to OHKO Miraidon with Play Rough before it uses Agility. Ting-Lu is also a stellar partner for Miraidon, as the layers of Spikes it sets are an invaluable aid to a potential sweep.

Miraidon's devastating offensive prowess, further enhanced by Life Orb and Calm Mind, makes it one of the best wallbreakers, easily punching holes through the sturdiest defensive cores. Electro Drift outright OHKOes Calyrex-S, Zacian-C, and Arceus-Fairy after two layers of Spikes. Draco Meteor provides a way to hit Ground-types such as Ting-Lu, Arceus-Ground, and Clodsire, as well as other Dragon-types like opposing Miraidon, Koraidon, and Eternatus. Agility prevents Miraidon from being revenge killed by faster threats like Choice Scarf Koraidon, Zacian-C, and Calyrex-S. Miraidon does not usually need a coverage move in the last slot, as its STAB moves hit most of the tier for at least neutral damage. However, Overheat hits Tera Grass Ho-Oh, which is present on most stall teams, as well as the rare Iron Treads, while also acting as a midground option against both Ground- and Fairy-types. It also benefits from Koraidon's sun, OHKOing Tera Grass Ho-Oh without any boosts. The Speed investment lets Miraidon outspeed max Speed neutral-nature Arceus formes. Tera Stellar boosts Miraidon's STABs to unfathomable levels, with +1 Tera Stellar Draco Meteor OHKOing special walls like Ting-Lu, specially defensive Tera Grass Ho-Oh, and Clodsire, while 2HKOing Blissey. On the other hand, Tera Dragon retains the ability to use strengthened Draco Meteor multiple times at the cost of being unable to OHKO Arceus-Fairy with unboosted Electro Drift. Calm Mind Miraidon is an excellent pick on bulky offense and hyper offense teamscapable of breaking through stall and heavily pressuring defensive backbones. Teammates like Swords Dance Arceus, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground, Koraidon, and Zacian-C appreciate Miraidon threatening their defensive switch-ins such as Alomomola, Skeledirge, and Landorus-T, while they in return pressure common Miraidon answers like Ting-Lu, Blissey, and Clodsire. Calm Mind Arceus-Ground is a great partner that works in tandem with Miraidon to overwhelm mutual checks such as Ting-Lu and Tera Grass Ho-Oh. On hyper offense, suicide leads like Glimmora, Deoxys-S, and Ribombee can provide entry hazards, while Grimmsnarl supplies screens for safer setup. Due to Life Orb recoil and the lack of Heavy-Duty Boots, Miraidon is worn down over the course of the game, making Hatterene an excellent partner to block hazards and pivot it in safely with Baton Pass or pass Calm Mind boosts. Faster threats such as Zacian-C, Calyrex-S, and Choice Scarf Koraidon can force Miraidon out or deal heavy damage to it, so partners like Arceus-Water and Landorus-T that check Koraidon and Zacian-C make for good teammates. Ting-Lu also checks Calyrex-S and opposing Miraidon while setting Spikes to aid in breaking, and Arceus benefits from Ting-Lu being weakened so its sweep isn't halted by Whirlwind while giving Miraidon a safer fallback against Calyrex-S.

Choice Specs trades Miraidon's longevity for becoming an even more threatening wallbreaker. It allows Miraidon to OHKO defensive Arceus formes after a layer of Spikes with either Draco Meteor or Electro Drift and 2HKO Clodsire with Draco Meteor. Overheat OHKOes Iron Treads, as well as threatens Tera Grass Blissey and Ho-Oh. Overheat also allows for a midground click to circumvent predicting a switch to a Ground- or Fairy-type, dealing significant damage to Ting-Lu and being favored to OHKO defensive Arceus-Fairy in the omnipresent sun after a layer of Spikes. U-turn allows Miraidon to maintain momentum without having to risk getting a prediction wrong. Volt Switch, on the other hand, can be used as a stronger pivoting option once checks like Ting-Lu have been KOed or significantly chipped, or to keep up offensive pressure against Blissey. A Modest nature increases Miraidon's damage output even further, allowing Draco Meteor to more reliably 2HKO Ting-Lu after a layer of Spikes, while Timid allows Miraidon to outspeed offensive Arceus-Ground and Arceus-Fairy and tie opposing Miraidon and Koraidon. Tera Fire can be used to break past Tera Grass walls even without Koraidon's sun, notably securing an OHKO on Tera Grass Ho-Oh and 2HKOing Tera Grass Blissey. It can also be used defensively in a pinch, allowing Miraidon to resist Fairy-type attacks like Zacian-C's Play Rough and Arceus-Fairy's Judgment. Alternatively, Tera Dragon boosts Miraidon's Draco Meteor to incredible levels, 2HKOing specially defensive Ho-Oh and Ting-Lu and OHKOing Clodsire with minimal chip. Choice Specs Miraidon is used primarily on bulky offense and balance playstyles, which appreciate its incredible wallbreaking power. Other special attackers such as Calyrex-S, Calm Mind Arceus-Fairy, and Kyogre greatly appreciate Choice Specs Miraidon to help overwhelm and break walls like Ting-Lu, Blissey, Clodsire, and specially defensive Ho-Oh. Without Heavy-Duty Boots, Miraidon gets chipped by hazards quickly; therefore, Hatterene makes a great teammate, preventing hazards from being set with Magic Bounce and pivoting it in safely with Baton Pass. Hatterene can also Nuzzle threatening Pokemon and set up Calm Mind to pass boosts to Miraidon with Baton Pass, making it easier to wallbreak. Since Miraidon is choice-locked, it is very easily revenge killed and can be used as setup fodder after locking into a move. Therefore, it requires a defensive backbone for setup sweepers such as Zacian-C, Arceus-Ground, and Koraidon. Similarly, Calyrex-S outspeeds and 2HKOes Miraidon, threatening to snowball out of control. Revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Koraidon and Calyrex-S are hence appreciated to take care of faster threats. Koraidon in particular forms a strong offensive core, with it luring in physical walls such as Arceus formes, Ho-Oh, and Landorus-T for Miraidon to take advantage of. On the other hand, Koraidon scares out special walls such as Ting-Lu, Blissey, and Clodsire while also setting up sun to power up Overheat. Walls such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Fairy, and Ting-Lu allow Miraidon to reliably fall back after claiming a KO. Ting-Lu provides Spikes support to chip opposing Pokemon into KO range, along with checking Arceus-Ground and Calyrex-S. Landorus-T is also a good partner, being able to switch into Koraidon, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground, and Zacian-C, and slow pivot back into Miraidon with U-turn.

Miraidon's raw natural power backed by Hadron Engine and access to U-turn make it one of the best pivots for balance and bulky offense teams. Heavy-Duty Boots greatly increases Miraidon's longevity by letting it come in multiple times without any consequences from entry hazards while also improving its matchup against Sticky Web. Taunt helps prevent Ting-Lu from using Spikes, Arceus formes and Clodsire from using Recover, and foes such as Arceus and Necrozma-DM from setting up. Calm Mind allows Miraidon to OHKO Necrozma-DM after a single boost and brute force its way through its checks, 2HKOing Ting-Lu and OHKOing Arceus-Ground at +1 after entry hazard damage. Solar Beam is an alternative option that allows Miraidon to 2HKO Ting-Lu and OHKO Arceus-Ground after some minor chip damage, although it requires sun to be up for Miraidon to be able to use it with ease. Tera Fairy gives Miraidon an immunity to Dragon-type moves from Koraidon, Eternatus, and opposing Miraidon, albeit at the cost of making it weak to Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and removing its resistance to Ho-Oh's STAB moves. Tera Dragon boosts Miraidon's Draco Meteor to absolutely insane levels, allowing it to 2HKO Ting-Lu at +1 and OHKO Arceus-Ground. Tera Ghost grants Miraidon an immunity to Koraidon's Low Kick and Arceus's Extreme Speed, although it makes Miraidon weak to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage. Miraidon is primarily used on balance and bulky offense teams that benefit from its wallbreaking and pivoting capabilities. Miraidon struggles with revenge killers such as Koraidon and Calyrex-S, so it likes checks to them such as Ho-Oh and defensive Arceus formes for the former and Ting-Lu for the latter. Miraidon appreciates being paired with Choice Scarf Koraidon, as they can pivot each other in and complement each other really well, with Koraidon being able to pressure Ting-Lu and Arceus-Ground and Miraidon helping against Ho-Oh and Arceus-Water. Miraidon also appreciates special attackers such as Calyrex-S and Arceus-Ground that can pressure and eventually break through Ting-Lu. Lastly, Miraidon greatly benefits from Ting-Lu setting entry hazards to let it effectively break through foes and being a fabulous check to Calyrex-S and Arceus-Ground, which Miraidon struggles with.

Strength Sap is necessary to keep Miraidon healthy and maintain Dragon Energy's base power. Thunder Cage is excellent at forcing progress onto walls like Ice Scales Mega Audino. Dragon Energy allows Miraidon to force out Dragon-types like Eternatus and Mega Garchomp, as well as dissuading Imposter users from switching in. Encore is a fantastic utility move, allowing Miraidon to force out Arceus formes locked into Take Heart, as well as locking walls like Mega Audino and Chansey into recovery moves. It also synergizes extremely well with Thunder Cage, forcing RegenVest users like Dialga-O and Registeel to pivot out immediately if they switch in on Thunder Cage, as otherwise they would be trapped and KOed. Magic Guard negates damage from entry hazards, Salt Cure, status conditions like poison from Mortal Spin, and Life Orb recoil damage, allowing Miraidon to hit benchmarks like 2HKOing Dialga-O without Assault Vest. Alternatively, Fur Coat lets Miraidon act as a switch-in for physical attackers like Mega Blaziken and Sniper Ash-Greninja. For Fur Coat sets, Heavy-Duty Boots is usually the item of choice, though Covert Cloak lets Miraidon switch into Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and RegenVest users without fear of Mortal Spin and Salt Cure. Miraidon can fit on a variety of balance structures due to its role compression. It provides solid offensive pressure to supplement other wallbreakers or to act as a long-term wincon on hazard stack teams; the Magic Guard set naturally fits on the latter thanks to its immunity to entry hazards. For the former, special attackers like Mega Gardevoir appreciate Miraidon pressuring shared special walls like Ice Scales Mega Audino and RegenVest Registeel, while for the latter, Spikes setters like Arceus-Ghost and Flutter Mane pair well with it. Both can also help pressure Chansey and Blissey. Imposter users and RegenVest Pokemon like Ting-Lu can often trade Knock Offs against opposing RegenVest Pokemon like Dialga-O and Ting-Lu, allowing Miraidon to break past them. RegenVest users also can provide Stone Axe support to capitalize on the switches Miraidon's Thunder Cage can force, as well as safely pivoting in Encore sets against setup Pokemon like Take Heart Arceus formes. Fur Coat Miraidon cannot check Mega Garchomp, requiring either a second Fur Coat user or alternative switch-ins to Mega Garchomp's STAB moves, such as Levitate Steel-types and physically defensive Regenerator Pokemon like Mega Slowbro or Ting-Lu. Encore can make Miraidon tricky to Imposter-proof without somewhat niche sets like Regenerator Blissey or Magic Bounce Clodsire; utility Flutter Mane sets cannot be trapped and have good special bulk to take Thunder Cage while retaliating with utility moves or Fairy-type STAB moves. Pivots such as Chansey, Blissey, and RegenVest users can safely bring in offensive checks like Mega Gardevoir and Flutter Mane, with Chansey and Blissey also denying Imposter recovery, while Ground-types like Ting-Lu and Mega Swampert are immune to trapping from Thunder Cage.

Focusing on bulk with Assault Vest rather than Speed and raw power may seem counter to Miraidon's purpose, but this set showcases its impressive skills as a tank! Volt Switch versus U-turn: Miraidon's bulk makes it a great pivot with Volt Switch, especially once Ground-types are dealt with. Just note that it does come at the cost of healing or coverage. If wanting to guarantee Miraidon can pivot against common Ground-type switch-ins, U-turn is also a viable option. Dazzling Gleam: If Miraidon is using Tera Fairy, Dazzling Gleam is a reasonable way to wear down Ting-Lu switching in. Mirror Coat: With such high special bulk from Assault Vest, Miraidon can land surprise KOs on strong special attackers like Flutter Mane and opposing Miraidon. Other Options Parabolic Charge: Electric Terrain juices Parabolic Charge up into one of the most powerful healing attacks around. Even foes like Calyrex-S are still usually 2HKOed by Parabolic Charge! Unfortunately, it usually involves sacrificing something else critically important like a pivot move or Tera Blast coverage. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Medium: Assault Vest Miraidon has enough bulk that even some Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks are unlikely to KO it, but Terastallization still helps it keep in good shape. Ice: Tera Ice provides both a vital resistance to Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash and powerful coverage against Ground- and Dragon-types alike in Tera Blast, but note that its poor defensive qualities are a bigger sticking point for a tank. Water: Tera Water greatly helps against potential Chien-Pao revenge kills as well as making Tera Blast into a powerful tool against Ground-types. Just be warned that this Tera type gives Rillaboom, the Ogerpon formes, and opposing Miraidon a much easier time revenge killing this set. Fairy: Tera Fairy makes powerful Dragon-type attacks bounce off Miraidon, which is perfect for revenge killing Outrage-locked threats like Koraidon, and it increases Dazzling Gleam's power for wearing down Ting-Lu. Normal: Tera Normal can cause serious problems for Calyrex-S, forcing it to break Miraidon without its strongest attack in Astral Barrage. Electric: While this set isn't focused on wallbreaking, Tera Electric boosts Electro Drift such that it still electrocutes most Pokemon anyways, and it comes with the bonus of removing all weaknesses associated with Miraidon's part-Dragon typing. EV Spreads 252 HP / 4 Def / 116 SpA / 68 SpD / 68 Spe with Modest: This spread is designed to survive Draco Meteor from opposing Timid Miraidon and from opposing Modest Miraidon 63.5% of the time, assuming no boosts from items. The Speed investment allows Miraidon to outspeed Jolly Urshifu formes and Mimikyu, both of which can threaten serious damage. 252 HP / 4 Def / 196 SpA / 36 SpD / 20 Spe with Modest: This spread lets Miraidon outspeed Jolly Landorus-T, giving it an extra bit of power while still surviving unboosted Draco Meteor from Timid Miraidon. 252 HP / 4 Def / 196 SpA / 4 SpD / 52 Spe with Modest: While Miraidon is no longer guaranteed to live Draco Meteor from opposing Timid Miraidon, the small boost in Speed stays ahead of Jolly Gliscor. Alternatively, the Special Defense investment can be increased to 20 EVs by taking from Special Attack, so that opposing Timid Miraidon will only be able to OHKO on the highest Draco Meteor roll.

With several options to boost its stats, Miraidon can become an unstoppable force if given the opportunity! Electro Drift: Electro Drift's consistent power works well for both Agility and Calm Mind sets. Parabolic Charge and Calm Mind: Calm Mind is a great boosting option for Miraidon, but those with slower spreads in particular will often take sizable damage while trying to set up. Parabolic Charge's healing works well for offsetting this, and the Calm Mind boosts help make up for its lower Base Power. Dragon Pulse versus Draco Meteor: Dragon Pulse may be weaker, but it doesn't compromise Miraidon's offense in the long term. Draco Meteor's high burst damage can be worth it in lieu of the Special Attack drop, since this Miraidon often tries to sweep late-game, but it can otherwise be problematic if Miraidon has to face multiple targets. Agility: With the appropriate Speed investment, Agility will let Miraidon outrun the most common Choice Scarf users in the metagame! Tera Types Tera Dependency - High: Due to the one-time nature of Electric Seed, Terastallization is almost mandatory so that Miraidon can overcome its checks. Water: Tera Water is Miraidon's best hope of taking out the troublesome Iron Treads. Its also a strong defensive typing, though notably, it does make the Miraidon mirror matchup much trickier if the opponent still has their own Terastallization available. Ice: Tera Blast Ice provides the best offensive coverage with Electric-type STAB moves if Miraidon is trying to fit both Calm Mind and Agility into the same set. While Tera Ice is not as strong defensively, the Ice-type resistance is still good against Chien-Pao. EV Spreads With the Defense boost from Electric Seed, all of the spreads shown below let Miraidon survive the 2HKO from Tera Normal Choice Band Dragonite's Extreme Speed. 156 HP / 252 SpA / 100 Spe with Modest: The given Speed investment lets Miraidon outrun up to Timid Chi-Yu; after an Agility, Miraidon outruns all the way up to Choice Scarf Calyrex-S! After maximizing offensive power, the rest is put into HP. 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe with Modest: It's recommended that this bulkier spread is used with Calm Mind and Parabolic Charge. Just enough Speed is maintained to outrun Jolly Landorus-T. 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe with Timid: This spread is meant as a faster variation for Calm Mind setups, as the Speed investment will outrun other base 135 Speed Pokemon that have neutral Speed natures, such as Koraidon and Chien-Pao.

With the boosts from Hadron Engine and Electric Terrain driving up its power to horrifying measurements, Miraidon is a shocking combination of special offense and support! Volt Switch versus U-turn: Miraidon is a fantastic pivot thanks to its high Speed and power. Volt Switch deals a massive surge of damage compared to most pivoting moves in the game, but U-turn's low power is made up for by the ability to pivot out of Ting-Lu, a common Miraidon check. Tera Blast versus Dazzling Gleam: Tera Blast Ice is Miraidon's go to attack for hitting Ground-types, even OHKO'ing Assault Vest Landorus-T, whereas Tera Blast Water allows Miraidon to put heavy pressure on Iron Treads. If Miraidon is using Tera Fairy or Tera Electric instead, Dazzling Gleam is a handy alternative that still deals decent damage to Ting-Lu. Modest versus Timid: For any Miraidon that runs bulk, Modest is usually the desired nature. On the flip side, offensive Miraidon is in a highly contested Speed tier, making a Timid nature the preferred option in case of Speed ties. Other Options Dragon Pulse: Although it doesn't offer the sheer wallbreaking power of Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse is a better cleaning tool while Ground-types are still lurking around. Overheat: Overheat deals huge damage to Rillaboom, which will often try to reduce Miraidon's power with Grassy Surge. It also hits the rare Iron Treads, which resists all of Miraidon's other coverage moves except Tera Blast Ice or Water. Items Choice Scarf: Koraidon and Flutter Mane boost their Speed often enough where Choice Scarf gives Miraidon a fighting chance of moving first anyway and it makes Miraidon a powerful revenge killer in general. Choice Specs: Choice Specs wires up Miraidon into a powerful wallbreaker, with only Blissey, Chansey, and Ground-types being able to effectively handle repeated Electro Drifts. With Tera Electric, not even Blissey can withstand Electro Drift! Magnet, Life Orb, and Assault Vest: While the following items grant less offensive benefit to Miraidon, not being choice locked against common Ground-type switch-ins can be very worth it. Magnet gives a modest boost to Miraidon's best move in Electro Drift, while Life Orb grants extra power across the board at the cost of compromising Miraidon's bulk. Assault Vest is another option that, even without any bulk investment, still allows Miraidon to avoid the 2HKO from Timid Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage! Tera Types Tera Dependency - Medium: Miraidon is perfectly capable of ripping through teams on its own, but Terastallization can either stop certain revenge kill attempts or open up new foes to zap. Ice: Despite being a poor defensive typing, Tera Ice stops Chien-Pao from defeating Miraidon with Icicle Crash while giving it a new coverage attack against Ting-Lu, Landorus-T, and Rillaboom in Tera Blast. Fairy: Not only is Tera Fairy great for soaking up Dragon-type attacks, it also provides handy coverage against Ting-Lu with a boosted Dazzling Gleam. Water: Tera Water is a far better defensive alternative to Tera Ice for drowning Ground-types with Tera Blast, most notably Iron Treads. Tera Water is also less exploitable by Chien-Pao and Scizor, but it does come at the cost of making Miraidon mirror matchups shaky as well as the occasional Rillaboom becoming a huge problem. Electric: Removing the weaknesses of Miraidon's part-Dragon typing makes Tera Electric already good, and jolting up Electro Drift's power means even Blissey and Electric-resistant Pokemon like bulky Ogerpon-H and specially defensive Wo-Chien take serious damage, especially if Miraidon is holding Choice Specs! Tera Electric also allows Choice Scarf sets to OHKO most Flutter Mane with Electro Drift. Alternative EV Spreads Miraidon's natural bulk is impressive, so investing even a little into bulk can make a big difference. These EV spreads can help you get started, but these are just a few examples of what offensive Miraidon can run! 124 HP / 4 Def / 196 SpA / 12 SpD / 172 Spe with Modest: This spread is specialized for Choice Scarf with enough physical bulk to almost always survive +2 Adamant Chien-Pao's Sucker Punch. The special bulk also allows Miraidon to survive +1 Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage. Finally, the Speed investment combined with Choice Scarf allows Miraidon to outrun Adamant Dragonite at +2 Speed. 244 HP / 52 Def / 68 SpA / 4 SpD / 140 Spe with Timid: This speedy Choice Specs spread outruns Adamant Koraidon and Chien-Pao as well as Modest Miraidon and Flutter Mane.
