Regenerator is by far the best ability Alomomola can use, giving it one-third of its health back every time it switches in and out, allowing it to pivot in and out of the attackers it checks. Leftovers is used to give Alomomola more passive recovery and helps with potential status ailments such as Toxic poison and burns. Rocky Helmet is an option as well to wear down physical attackers and U-turn users because Alomomola can still get passive recovery from Regenerator, but it leaves Alomomola significantly more vulnerable to residual damage. Usage Tips Alomomola completely walls physical attackers such as Mega Sharpedo and Choice Band Scizor, so it's best to switch into them and start spreading Toxic poison as much as possible. Don't switch Alomomola into Pokemon such as Crawdaunt and Terrakion until their set has been scouted, as these Pokemon possess the ability to OHKO or heavily damage Alomomola at +2 with potential Z-Moves. Make sure to clear all entry hazards before pivoting Alomomola into a physical attacker, since, with multiple layers of Spikes and Stealth Rock up, it is often 2HKOed. Make sure that Alomomola cannot be 2HKOed by what it is switching into, especially when using Rocky Helmet. Alomomola should also focus on keeping its team healthy with its huge Wishes, so whenever a Pokemon is low on health, try to heal it back up. Against non-setup sweepers, Alomomola can be used as a scout to reveal potential Choice item users because of Regenerator, as it can pivot in and out of them without fearing being worn down. Be careful using Scald if the enemy team has a Mega Altaria, as a Scald burn could power up Facade and allow Mega Altaria to break through your team more easily. Team Options It should be noted that Alomomola fits best on stall and balance teams. Blissey is one of Alomomola's best partners because it blanket checks most special attackers in UU, while Alomomola blanket checks most physical attackers. The two form a rock-solid defensive core that is very hard to break. Clerics are also nice to have on a team with Alomomola, since Toxic puts it on an uncomfortable timer and can prevent it from walling Pokemon late-game. Mega Altaria and Blissey can fill this role well on stall teams. Quagsire is another good partner for Alomomola because, with Unaware, it is able to check setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Terrakion, Swords Dance Cobalion, and certain Crawdaunt sets, and Alomomola helps out by being able to pass a Wish to Quagsire so it avoids the 2HKO from said Pokemon, although this does stack a Grass-type weakness. Entry hazard removers such as Latias, Moltres, and Tentacruel are almost mandatory because Alomomola detests Toxic Spikes and any other entry hazard that can wear it down. Grass-type checks are nice because Grass-types take advantage of Alomomola pretty well. Togekiss checks Amoonguss, while Latias can check Celebi and Amoonguss as well. Electric-type checks such as the aforementioned Quagsire and Latias are also appreciated.

Protect allows Alomomola to avoid damage after using Wish, keeping it healthy; it is also a good way to wear down poisoned foes and to gain Leftovers recovery. Knock Off is a reliable move for supporting the rest of the team, as having the ability to get rid of Choice Band and Choice Specs means that it is harder for opposing Pokemon to break a stall team. Removing Leftovers with Knock Off also allows Scald burns to have more effect on opposing Pokemon. Alomomola is the only defensive user of Knock Off, which means it is imperative that it makes good use of the move when on a pure stall team. Set Details Alomomola has very high sustainability due to Regenerator giving it the ability to switch into hard-hitting Pokemon multiple times, which is the main reason people use it on Water-type teams. Leftovers is a staple item on most stall Pokemon, as it means Alomomola can outlast other foes, especially with Protect granting it two turns of Leftovers recovery before switching out. Alomomola's HP and Special Defense EVs allow it to take special attacks from Rotom-Wash, Latios, and Mega Charizard Y to OHKO them back with Mirror Coat. This includes a Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock damage. Alomomola's 252 Defense EVs with a Bold nature turn it into a giant physical wall, allowing it to tank hits from most neutral physical attacks. With this EV spread, it takes less than 50% from most physical threats, which allows it to safely use Wish and Protect, keeping it healthy and letting it get off the occasional Scald or Toxic to cripple the foe. The most notable Pokemon that Alomomola walls are Mega Lopunny and Life Orb Garchomp. Usage Tips When using Alomomola, make sure you switch it in and out as much as possible to take advantage of Regenerator. Note that it is fine to switch out Alomomola at low health, as it will get health back when you next switch it in; there is no need to use Wish to get Alomomola at high HP every time. An important part of using Alomomola as a lure is that you keep Mirror Coat hidden until you're certain that the foe will be attacking, as, once revealed, the opponent can easily play around it, making it a lot harder to use successfully. Make sure you use Alomomola as a pivot to heal up your team as much as possible as well as to check moves from Choice-locked Pokemon. The EV spread it has allows Alomomola to take Volt Switch from every Pokemon that uses it, so make sure you punish opposing pivots by using Mirror Coat on a Volt Switch. Alomomola's access to Wish gives it good synergy with bulky Water-types such as Mantine, which is a reliable Defogger that can take special hits and Grass-type attacks for safe Defog. You could even use Lanturn for its safe Heal Bell. Lanturn's immunity to Electric-type attacks and Sap Sipper Azumarill's immunity to Grass-type attacks allow them to be great teammates for Alomomola. Azumarill is even more useful for being able to trap walls that Alomomola can't touch with Whirlpool and take them out with Perish Song. Alomomola pairs well with another physical wall in Quagsire, as it allows Alomomola to use Toxic, Knock Off, or Scald to hinder setup Pokemon while having the safety net of Quagsire's Unaware ability if they get out of hand. Another notable Pokemon that can be paired with Alomomola is Tapu Fini, which can break through other defensive Pokemon with Taunt and Nature's Madness, although Misty Terrain does stop status from Alomomola. Mega Slowbro can set up and sweep late-game after Alomomola has crippled the team with Knock Off and status conditions. Lastly, Suicune can PP stall Pokemon without worrying about being too low on HP, as Alomomola can use Wish to give Suicune health back.

Usage Tips Alomomola should be used as a mixed wall, switching into any move it's not weak to, as well as providing Wish support for itself and for its teammates that lack reliable recovery. Wish is Alomomola's main support move, reliably healing its teammates for a large amount of health due to Alomomola's incredibly high base HP. Protect works well alongside Wish, providing Alomomola with a reliable way of healing itself. Knock Off is another niche that separates Alomomola from Vaporeon, providing additional support for its team. Toxic is another useful support option to whittle down opposing bulky threats such as Chesnaught. Mirror Coat can be used to get a surprise OHKO on special attackers such as Choice Scarf Rotom, Life Orb Nidoqueen, and non-Choice Specs Chandelure. However, due to Mirror Coat's Psychic typing, it will not work on Dark-Type Pokemon, such as Hydreigon. Set Details Alomomola's huge base 165 HP stat means it can afford to invest its EVs in other areas. 252 Def EVs are used to maximize Alomomola's physical defenses, making it able to take multiple hits alongside its Regenerator ability. The 216 EVs are placed into Alomomola's subpar Special Defense, allowing it to absorb a variety of neutral special attacks, such as a Moonblast from Florges. The remaining 40 HP EVs round out Alomomola's overall bulk. A Bold nature is used alongside Scald, but an Impish nature can be used if you want a slightly more powerful Knock Off. Team Options Blissey, Gligar, and Roserade all make perfect bulky companions to build a bulky core. for instance, Gligar supports Alomomola against Guts Heracross and other physical wallbreakers. Physical wallbreakers will get past clerics, such as Umbreon and Florges, that prevent Alomomola from spreading status conditions against more defensive teams. Bulky Water-types are easily placed on a team with a Grass- and Fire-type Pokemon; Pokemon such as Arcanine, Shaymin, and Celebi make for excellent teammates in a Fire-Water-Grass core to support offensive teammates. Alomomola has an easy time against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, so it is an ideal teammate for Florges on stall teams. Alomomola appreciates Rapid Spin or Defog support so that it can get the most out of its Regenerator recovery. Because Alomomola struggles with most setup sweepers, especially if they have Substitute, it appreciates phazers such as Mega Aggron and Whirlwind Snorlax, as well as Whimsicott with Encore. Furthermore, Mandibuzz's access to Taunt makes it a great candidate for taking on Suicune and Reuniclus and preventing their setup.

Knock Off is generally preferred, as it offers further team support by removing potentially dangerous items such as Life Orb. Set Details Alomomola's EV spread is very simple: maximize HP and Defense to tank hits from Ho-Oh and other physical attackers as well as possible. If running Knock Off, use an Impish nature, but if you opt for Scald, use a Bold nature. By using Toxic a lot, you prevent offensive teams from seizing momentum. However, do try to heal your teammates with Wish when the opportunity arises. Against more defensive teams, Knock Off becomes incredibly useful, as you can rob enemy walls, such as Lugia and Ferrothorn, of their Leftovers. You will also find more opportunities to pass Wishes to teammates. Alomomola dislikes all status, but hates Toxic in particular, so if a foe does manage to land a Toxic on it, have a cleric heal it as soon as possible. Finally, take advantage of Regenerator by switching Alomomola into Pokemon that cannot threaten it, such as Mega Sableye, when it starts to lose health. Team Options Ferrothorn is a great partner for Alomomola, as it resists both of Alomomola's weaknesses and checks Primal Kyogre while Alomomola provides huge Wishes and a check to Ho-Oh in return. Clefable is another viable teammate for Alomomola, as the Calm Mind set stops Geomancy Xerneas and most Calm Mind Arceus formes. Clefable can also use Heal Bell in the event Alomomola is afflicted with a status ailment. Alomomola appreciates Pursuit support to help deal with Mega Gengar; Aegislash and Chople Berry Tyranitar do a good job of this. Finally, Primal Groudon partners well with Alomomola because it can check Xerneas, Primal Kyogre, and Electric-types such as Zekrom.

Wish allows Alomomola to restore the HP of one of your Pokemon and works well with Protect, which allows Alomomola to regain a bit of Leftovers recovery, scout for the foe's item, stop High Jump Kick users such as Hawlucha and Mega Lopunny, and receive its own Wish when necessary. Mirror Coat lets Alomomola strike special attackers back with a twice-as-powerful move if it tanks their hit. Knock Off is an alternative to remove items like Eviolite, Leftovers, and Choice items from their holders, as well as deal a bit of chip damage. Toxic is another alternative that can be used to wear down walls; it is also Alomomola's only way of beating said walls. Spreading burns helps wear down the opposing team and force switches, creating opportunities to pass Wishes. Alomomola's main focus is to tank a hit and then immediately Wish and switch to a teammate. Furthermore, switching Alomomola in and out helps keep its HP as high as possible, though this tends to drain a lot of momentum. Keep Alomomola away from strong special attackers like Thundurus due to its poor Special Defense. Moreover, be wary of status ailments, most importantly Toxic poison, which wears it down a lot. Keep it away from Substitute-using setup sweepers that will use it as setup bait. Alomomola can otherwise switch into attacks pretty safely, use Protect, or just recover up while scouting what the foe does. Team Options Alomomola fits on stall and balance teams only due to its passiveness. Teammates that are able to use Toxic if it isn't running it are appreciated. Lanturn and Swampert are both good partners due to their Electric immunity. Lanturn also has Heal Bell to rid Alomomola of status and has a slow Volt Switch to safely bring it in. Swampert has Stealth Rock to wear down the foe. Tentacruel is able to take on Grass-types thanks to its Poison typing, provides Rapid Spin support to stop Alomomola from being worn down, and has Toxic Spikes to slowly wear down the foe. Sap Sipper Azumarill is a good partner that switches into the Grass-types Alomomola hates. It is also a counter to Mega Charizard Y, allowing Alomomola to run a utility move other than Mirror Coat. Empoleon provides Stealth Rock and Defog support and often runs specially defensive spreads, meaning it can switch into special attacks for Alomomola, and it also appreciates Wish. Many Pokemon pair well with Alomomola due to its ability to pass Wishes. Rotom-W spreads burns with Will-O-Wisp and can use Volt Switch to slowly bring Alomomola in. Starmie can remove hazards with Rapid Spin, while Quagsire can counter setup sweepers with Unaware. Azumarill, Mega Sharpedo, Manaphy, Volcanion, and Mega Gyarados all appreciate the HP restoration granted by Wish. Manaphy also works as a good stallbreaker with Rain Dance + Toxic if Alomomola doesn't run Toxic.

With its impressive physical bulk, Alomomola is capable of taking on most of the tier's non-boosting physical attackers with ease. Alomomola's gargantuan HP stat makes it capable of passing a huge Wish off to teammates, enough to completely rejuvenate frailer Pokemon such as Durant. Waterfall is Alomomola's best bet at dealing direct damage to opposing Pokemon, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Entei and Kabutops for respectable damage. Protect offers Alomomola a useful "safety net" option, allowing it to scout Choice users as well as guaranteeing it can receive its own Wish safely. Lastly, Toxic gives Alomomola a weapon to hit Grass-, Water-, and Dragon-types switching into it, allowing it to put a timer on such Pokemon and prevent them from setting up on it for free. Druddigon and Escavalier are both very solid teammates in this regard, being capable of shrugging off the Grass- and Electric-type attacks aimed at Alomomola and in turn can steamroll through various Pokemon with their powerful attacks. Both Pokemon are rather vulnerable to being worn down, so Wish support from Alomomola is greatly appreciated. Magneton is also a very solid partner, resisting both Electric- and Grass-type attacks and being able to threaten Water-types that Alomomola can only Toxic, as well as trapping Pokemon such as Klinklang and Ferroseed that would otherwise switch into Alomomola repeatedly and set up on it. Grass-types also provide good defensive synergy with Alomomola. Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Roselia are able to take Electric- and Grass-type attacks aimed at Alomomola without much hassle, with the former forming a bulky Regenerator core with Alomomola and the latter being capable of setting up Spikes to wear down the Pokemon that threaten Alomomola. Cryogonal is also a solid partner to Alomomola, using Rapid Spin to prevent Alomomola from being worn down by hazard damage and offering a solid special wall with access to Haze to prevent setup sweepers such as Lilligant from getting out of hand.

The goal of this set is to provide your team with healing via Wish, as well as security against many physical attackers. Scald, though it comes off Alomomola's weaker attacking stat, prevents it from being complete setup bait for physical setup sweepers. Alomomola's typing and stats favor physical defense, so that is maximized in order to wall physical attackers. Leftovers provides great passive recovery when combined with Regenerator and Protect and is easily the best item for the set. Snorlax is a great partner because it can take any special attack and has the ability to phaze with Whirlwind, which Alomomola lacks. Umbreon and Roserade are also great partners as they both have great Special Defense as well. Umbreon has higher Special Defense, but Roserade offers resistances to both Alomomola's weaknesses, namely Electric- and Grass-type attacks. Roserade can also set up Spikes, which complements Alomomola's ability to force out physical attackers as they will repeatedly take passive damage. Both can clear status conditions, which Alomomola greatly appreciates as Toxic and burn both reduce its longevity.

Alomomola's large support movepool allows it to serve as a useful team supporter. Helping Hand lets it power up a teammate's attack to make up for its relative lack of offensive prowess, while Heal Pulse can replenish the health of a teammate, greatly increasing their survivability. Waterfall gives Alomomola a reasonably powerful STAB attack that ensures it's not useless under the effects of Taunt, while also making it an excellent check to most Rock- or Ground-type attackers such as Terrakion and Excadrill. Terrakion in particular makes an excellent partner for Alomomola, as it eliminates threats such as Thundurus and Hydreigon and greatly appreciates Helping Hand. Alomomola's Heal Pulse can aid the survivability of many bulky attackers, so Pokemon such as Scrafty or Conkeldurr benefit from Alomomola as a partner.
