Set Details Dragon Tail lets Guzzlord phaze setup sweepers like Salazzle, Nasty Plot Rotom-C, and Snorlax. RestTalk allows Guzzlord to consistently exploit bulky Water-types like Mantine, Gastrodon, and Vaporeon. Guzzlord can also opt for Toxic + Protect to better pressure physical walls like Mudsdale and Quagsire, although it becomes much more vulnerable to status ailments. The Speed investment lets Guzzlord outrun Vaporeon. Checks to Guzzlord's weaknesses such as Fighting, Fairy, and Bug include Talonflame, Garbodor, and Salazzle. Garbodor is a great partner, as it can punish Fairy- and Fighting-types as well as incoming U-turn with Rocky Helmet while supplying Spikes support to increase Dragon Tail's potency. In turn, Guzzlord takes on Psychic-types and is overall a solid special wall to compensate for Garbodor's average special bulk. Wallbreakers such as Tauros, Starmie, and Silvally-Ground appreciate Guzzlord not just forcing in bulkier Pokemon such as Mudsdale, Vileplume, and Drapion, but also punishing them with Knock Off and Toxic, allowing for easier late-game sweeps. Wish passers like Sylveon and Vaporeon make Guzzlord less reliant on Rest for longevity and can wake it up if needed with Heal Bell.
