With Regenerator and boasting the highest Special Attack stat in the metagame, Duosion acts as a great defensive pivot and one of the better users of Future Sight. Future Sight is a potent attack that limits switch-ins, while Psychic offers upfront damage to pressure Roselia, Gurdurr, and Tangela. Toxic wears down Dark-types and specially defensive walls like Galarian Corsola, which are expecting to check Double Dance Duosion. Thunder, on the other hand, specifically targets Vullaby and Galarian Linoone for immediate damage. Magic Guard is an alternative to Regenerator that provides Duosion with an immunity to residual damage, but the passive recovery is normally preferred for defensive purposes. Max Special Defense lets it wall common threats such as Electabuzz and Wartortle. Duosion should switch into weak attacks from passive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Marshtomp in order to heal itself and use Future Sight. Duosion works best when paired with Pokemon that can take advantage of Future Sight threatening out their would-be checks, like Gurdurr, Machoke, Thwackey, and Raboot. Fighting-types also have the added benefit of being able to switch into Galarian Linoone, Klang, and Ferroseed, which do not mind Duosion's Future Sight, while their checks like Galarian Corsola, Clefairy, Koffing, and Tangela cannot afford to switch into them due to the threat of Future Sight. Dark-types like Vullaby and Galarian Linoone help to keep Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Lampent, Gastly, and Hattrem in check, which can threaten Duosion or switch into Future Sight respectively. Vullaby and Galarian Linoone can also remove Eviolites, making Duosion's Future Sight more punishing to switch into. Since Duosion can use Future Sight to not only limit but force switch-ins, entry hazard setters such as Ferroseed, Piloswine, and Mareanie make for great partners, with the latter's Toxic Spikes' poison spreading much quicker. Pokemon like Thwackey and Combusken can clean much easier with the help of Duosion's ability to wear down multiple Pokemon throughout a game.

Due to its boosting options in Acid Armor and Calm Mind, its ability Magic Guard, and access to Recover, Duosion is a great defensive sweeper. These attributes make Toxic users and non-setup attackers like Clefairy, Piloswine, and Raboot unable to break boosted Duosion, while it breaks walls like Galarian Corsola, Klang, and Ferroseed after enough setup to make Stored Power a nuke. Unfortunately, Duosion's only coverage here is Psychic-typed, meaning any Dark-type like Vullaby and Galarian Linoone completely walls it. Psyshock over Stored Power is an option to threaten certain targets like Mareanie and Roselia with less setup required, and also beats opposing Duosion that lack it, but has notably less potential power-wise. As a win condition, Duosion should only be sent out to set up late-game when its checks are eliminated. Dark-types like Galarian Linoone, Vullaby, and Morgrem pose as counters due to their Psychic-type immunity, and should be dispatched by offensive attackers like Gurdurr, Raboot, and Thwackey. Alternatively, Duosion stalls out weaker Dark-types with the support of Toxic and Toxic Spikes teammates like Mareanie and Roselia. Wallbreakers and offensive setup sweepers such as Lampent, Fraxure, and Thwackey have en edge by breaking or out-boosting Duosion. Support from defensive teammates such as Piloswine, Ferroseed, and Tangela is appreciated for checking these threats, and they appreciate Duosion dealing with Koffing and Gloom. Duosion’s setup attempts are stopped by faster Taunt and Encore users such as Galarian Linoone, Vullaby, and Clefairy; use these occurrences as an opportunity to safely bring in offensive teammates like Machoke, Electabuzz, and Lampent.

Moves Calm Mind allows Duosion to simultaneously boost its Special Attack and Special Defense, making it even harder to take down. Psyshock is Duosion's best STAB option, as it allows it to break through other Calm Mind users such as Audino, Xatu, and non-Barrier Musharna. Acid Armor makes Duosion incredibly difficult to break through with physical attacks, ensuring it can set up against the likes of Steelix, Tauros, Kangaskhan, Kabutops, and Archeops, as well as ensure it wins Calm Mind wars against other Psyshock users. Recover keeps Duosion healthy so that it can keep setting up throughout the match. Set Details The given EV spread plus a Bold nature maximizes Duosion's physical bulk, allowing it to set up Calm Mind more comfortably on physical attackers. The 4 remaining EVs are put into Speed to allow Duosion to outspeed uninvested Steelix. Eviolite increases its defenses even further, making more difficult to take down. Magic Guard is key, as it gives Duosion an immunity to entry hazards and other forms of residual damage, most notably Toxic, which ensures it cannot be shut down as it sets up. Usage Tips Duosion should steer clear of setting up if Dark-types are present on the opponent's team, as it has no ways of dealing damage to them. It should also be used as more of a late-game cleaner, as it has little impact early on the match, especially with Pokemon that resist Psychic being healthy. Once its checks and counters are eliminated, initiate Duosion's sweep by using the appropriate boosting move, depending on what it's up against. However, do not get greedy with setting up Calm Mind or Acid Armor unless it's necessary, as the longer Duosion spends setting up, the more likely it is to be struck by an untimely critical hit, ending its sweep prematurely. Thanks to Magic Guard, Duosion can serve as a status absorber, making it a good switch-in to Scald and Toxic in particular, though avoid the likes of Hex Rotom or Mismagius, as it can deal significant damage against an unboosted Duosion inflicted with burn. Recover should be used if Duosion's HP is getting too low, but be wary of doing this if the opponent has a Pursuit trapper such as Skuntank or Liepard, as they can put Duosion in an awkward spot. Try to avoid Knock Off at all costs, even weaker ones from the likes of Mega Audino and Clefairy, as Duosion loses a fair sum of its bulk once its Eviolite is removed, making it difficult to set up. When matched up against a potential Pursuit trapper such as Skuntank or Liepard, make double switches to teammates that threaten those two, as Duosion has no other way of dealing with them once they switch in. Team Options Fighting-types such as Primeape, Throh, and Hitmonchan are able to switch in on and take down problematic Dark-types that would otherwise end Duosion's sweep. In return, Duosion can switch in on the likes of Garbodor, Weezing, and Vileplume and threaten them with Psyshock. Toxic Spikes is devastating for the opponent, as it lets Duosion stall out Pokemon as it's setting up. Weezing and Garbodor are two notable examples, as both of them are able to soft check the likes of Shiftry, Skuntank, and Liepard, with the former crippling them with Will-O-Wisp and the latter wearing them with Rocky Helmet in conjunction with Aftermath. Mega Audino serves as a great Knock Off absorber, since it is able to switch in on the likes of Shiftry and Liepard with impunity once Mega Evolved. In exchange, Duosion absorbs Toxic for non-Heal Bell or Rest variants of Mega Audino and breaks past Poison-types, as well as slowly wearing down Steel-types, both of which are troublesome for Mega Audino. However, Duosion and Mega Audino are vulnerable to Skuntank, so make sure to pair them with solid response to it such as Rhydon or Steelix. Scyther threatens Skuntank, Shiftry, and Malamar with U-turn, while Duosion can break past the likes of Garbodor, Weezing, and Steelix, all of which prevent Scyther from sweeping with Swords Dance. Rotom is able to check opposing Scyther and burn Pokemon that switch in on it such as Shiftry, Skuntank, and Liepard. Rotom also switches in on Steelix and wears it down with the combination of Will-O-Wisp and Hex, speeding up the process for Duosion to break past it. In general, any Pokemon that uses Will-O-Wisp and doesn't come with clashing synergy works well, as Duosion appreciates the ease of setting up against burned physical attackers. Steelix, Rhydon, and Regirock are all able to freely switch in on Scyther and Pursuit Skuntank, as well as set up Stealth Rock, which is very helpful when combined with Duosion's tendency to force switches as it's setting up. Skuntank is also a good teammate as it can pursuit trap the Ghost-types which greatly threaten an unboosted Duosion.

Duosion is a fantastic late-game setup sweeper. Due to its immunity to residual damage, this set is an amazing weapon against stall teams. Calm Mind allows Duosion to boost its already fantastic Special Attack even further while raising its Special Defense as well, making it hard to revenge kill with special attackers such as Gardevoir. Psychic is Duosion's STAB move that can 2HKO a large portion of the tier when boosted. Thunder is a useful coverage move and also represents Duosion's main niche over Musharna, as it allows Duosion to OHKO Mandibuzz after Stealth Rock damage at +1. It also hits the likes of Metang and Skuntank extremely hard. However, Signal Beam is another option that grants extremely good coverage together with Psychic, and unlike Thunder, has more accuracy and can hit other Psychic-types harder, particularly Exeggutor. Recover allows Duosion to stay healthy after boosting, and is another factor that separates Duosion from Musharna, as Recover has more PP than Moonlight and is not affected by the weather, giving Duosion the edge when in a Calm Mind war. Eviolite is the only viable item as it makes Duosion's bulk usable. Because Duosion is already boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense, the EVs emphasize on Defense to allow Duosion to sponge some weaker physical hits. Hidden Power Ground is an option to defeat Bastiodon and Skuntank, but does not grant much additional coverage. Psyshock is a decent alternative STAB move, which allows Duosion to hit special walls and opposing Calm Mind users hard. However, after a few boosts, Duosion will plow through most special walls anyway. In terms of teammates, Duosion appreciates partners that can defeat the Dark-type opponents that threaten it. Hence, Fighting-type teammates such as Sawk and Gurdurr are appreciated for their ability to switch into these Dark-types and force them out. Skuntank is another great teammate as it can use Pursuit to trap opposing Ghost- and Psychic-types that threaten Duosion, and it is extremely helpful in avoiding a Calm Mind war. Gurdurr, Skuntank, and Duosion also form an effective Dark / Psychic / Fighting core. Duosion appreciates Toxic Spikes support, allowing it to break through opponents much more quickly and wear down checks such as Musharna. Garbodor and Roselia are two decent teammates that can set up Toxic Spikes. Magnet Pull Probopass is also a great teammate for its ability to remove Metang and Bastiodon, two troublesome foes for Duosion.

Duosion is a very effective standalone Trick Room sweeper due to its terrible Speed and high Special Attack. Unlike other offensive Trick Room sweepers, Duosion can restore its HP every time it pivots out thanks to Regenerator, which makes it harder to wear down by residual damage and can thus sustain a sweep for a long period of time. Psychic is Duosion's most powerful STAB move, and with Trick Room making Duosion extremely fast, it becomes a frightening sweeper. Thunder allows Duosion to 2HKO Mandibuzz and in general grants decent neutral coverage with Psychic. Signal Beam allows Duosion to defeat Exeggutor, Cacturne, and Shiftry, as well as to hit opposing Psychic-types hard. On the other hand, Hidden Power Ground allows Duosion to defeat the likes of Skuntank, Bastiodon, and Metang. 3 Speed IVs are required to give Duosion a 70 Base Power Hidden Power Ground. However, if Hidden Power Ground is not used, the Speed IVs should be lowered to 0 instead. Regenerator is the chosen ability, as it allows Duosion to stay healthy throughout the match and to lessen its reliance on Recover, hence giving it the space to run more coverage moves. Magic Guard can be used instead, but this set is meant to take down faster teams, which usually do not use status moves. If using Magic Guard, Recover can be used to allow Duosion to heal itself, but if not then Regenerator already does that sufficiently. Duosion also doesn't have enough bulk to spend a turn using Recover without investment in Defense. Life Orb can be used over Eviolite to grant Duosion extra power, but the loss in bulk means that Duosion finds lots of trouble setting up. Gurdurr is an amazing partner, soaking up Dark-type moves while benefiting from Trick Room. Slow but powerful teammates are also good options as backup if Duosion faints while Trick Room is still up. These include Guts Ursaring, Marowak, and Choice Band Lickilicky. However, Trick Room should not be relied on too much as its duration is greatly limited, and it is advisable to only include one of such teammates. Magnet Pull Probopass is another decent teammate thanks to its ability to trap and defeat troublesome Steel-types, such as Metang, Bastiodon, and opposing Probopass. It also provides entry hazard support to aid Duosion, takes Ghost-, Bug-, and Dark-type hits, and can give Duosion a safe switch in with a slow Volt Switch. While not necessary, Duosion appreciates free turns to set up Trick Room. Hence, dual screens or Encore support, from the likes of Gardevoir and Liepard, respectively, is helpful.
