Team Options Fraxure fits best on offensive teams in need of a strong physical wallbreaker that resists elemental move types like Fire, Grass, Water, and Electric. While it has the moves to deal with Fairy- and Steel-types, Fraxure cannot always take them on in case it predicts incorrectly. Therefore, having a Poison- or Fighting-type like Curse Muk or Silvally-Fighting as a teammate helps it out greatly. Setup sweepers like Combusken and Swanna make for great teammates, since Fraxure can break down walls like Lickilicky or Pyukumuku that would otherwise halt their sweeping chances. Choice Scarf users like Swanna, Electivire, Rapidash, and Silvally can all can be a headache for Fraxure, as they can outspeed Adamant sets even after two Dragon Dances. Therefore, teammates like defensive Golem, Choice Scarf Electivire, and Mareanie help Fraxure greatly, since they can deal with these threats. A teammate that can provide dual screens support like Electrode or Meowstic is great for Fraxure, especially if it's on a hyper offensive team, to give it that extra bulk needed to stomach more hits while setting up.

Scyther appreciates this set's ability to wear down certain physical walls, including Rhydon and Mawile, and can use U-turn to bring Fraxure in safely. Though this set is very powerful, Fraxure likes having a teammate that it can fall back on to deal with bulky Steel- and Fairy-types, such as Magmortar or Pyroar. Sticky Web support from Smeargle is a decent option for this set, allowing Fraxure to threaten offensive Pokemon such as Tauros, Pyroar, and Jynx a bit better. Fraxure also appreciates speed control from Thunder Wave users such as Liepard, Xatu, and Miltank that can neuter offensive Pokemon. Due to this set's lack of Eviolite, Pokemon with pivoting moves, such as Scyther, Mesprit, and Lanturn, are especially important in order for Fraxure to switch in safely.

An Adamant nature could be used for more power, but Fraxure will miss out on the aforementioned threats, though it notably still manages to outspeed Pyroar at +1. Eviolite gives Fraxure a solid amount of bulk, which allows it to set up on a greater variety of Pokemon and survive weaker priority moves. Life Orb can be used for a significant boost in power; although forgoing Eviolite greatly restricts Fraxure's setup opportunities, Life Orb does grant Fraxure the ability to reliably 2HKO Mega Audino with Iron Tail at +1 with even a Jolly nature. Usage Tips Fraxure generally shouldn't be brought into battle until its checks have been removed or sufficiently weakened, although this can be skipped over if Fraxure is needed to wear down a teammate's checks or if a teammate is carrying Healing Wish. Fraxure still has a decent amount of bulk with Eviolite, which can allow it to take weaker attacks and priority moves, such as Gurdurr's Mach Punch, Skuntank's Sucker Punch, and Samurott's Aqua Jet, depending on how much HP Fraxure has left after boosting up. Likewise, Fraxure can survive some powerful attacks when carrying an Eviolite, such as Life Orb Tauros's Rock Climb, but this should only be done if the opponent no longer carries any priority move users. If one opts for Life Orb on Fraxure, it should usually be played more aggressively and used to punch holes for a teammate to take advantage of. Though Fraxure doesn't get a ton of setup opportunities, some Pokemon Fraxure is able to set up on include Vileplume, Claydol, Prinplup, Pelipper, Roselia, and other defensive Pokemon that Fraxure can threaten at +1. Team Options This set appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Mesprit, Garbodor, and Ferroseed to guarantees KOs on defensive Pokemon that could otherwise survive a hit and KO Fraxure. Additionally, Stealth Rock secures the 2HKO with +1 Iron Tail on Mega Audino, one of Fraxure's biggest checks. Fraxure likes having teammates that can deal with or weaken Mawile and Mega Audino, especially when you account for Iron Tail's shaky accuracy. Swords Dance Charizard and Klinklang can set up on Mega Audino, Mawile itself can switch into and set up on Mega Audino, and Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar can deal with Mawile nicely. Because Mega Audino and Mawile both have ways of boosting their stats, a defensive answer, such as a Weezing or Skuntank with Taunt, could ensure that Fraxure's team isn't swept after Fraxure is forced out. Fraxure isn't able to switch into much besides passive Water- and Grass-types; therefore, Pokemon such as Scyther, Lanturn, Swellow, and Musharna are helpful to bring Fraxure in through pivoting moves without taking unwanted damage. Memento support from the likes of Jumpluff, Skuntank, and Mismagius is useful to give Fraxure a much easier time setting up. In a similar vein, Healing Wish users such as Mesprit and Lilligant can bestow Fraxure a second chance to sweep, especially if it has been crippled with a status condition.

Aqua Tail is chosen for its ability to reliably OHKO Golem, as well as for hitting Golurk super effectively when Outrage is risky. Finally, as no additional coverage is needed, Dragon Claw is in the final moveslot to provide a reliable STAB move over Outrage, although it is considerably weaker. Powerful physical attackers, such as Zangoose, Samurott, and Sawk, also appreciate Fraxure's ability to bypass said walls. To remove Alomomola and Tangela, Spikes support from Cacturne or Garbodor is greatly appreciated. Additionally, a Pokemon with a trapping ability, such as Probopass or Gothorita, can trap and remove threats such as Bastiodon and Alomomola, respectively. As Fraxure is slow, paralysis support from the likes of Regirock, Regice, or Volbeat is also appreciated to remove faster threats. Finally, a slow user of U-turn or Volt Switch, such as Eelektross, is useful to bring Fraxure in safely.

Taunt allows Fraxure to set up on threats such as Alomomola, while Substitute allows it to evade Sucker Punch from Skuntank. Keep in mind, however, that Fraxure can take a Sucker Punch, so Substitute is not as necessary. Maximum EV values are invested into Attack and Speed to utilize Dragon Dance as effectively as possible. A Jolly nature is chosen here so that Fraxure can outspeed Swellow after one boost. However, an Adamant nature with an EV spread of 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spe is possible to hit harder, as well as catching base 100 Speed Pokemon, such as Charizard, after one boost; however, being able to outspeed Swellow is generally much more important. The item here depends on the player's needs; Eviolite provides Fraxure with more bulk to set up Dragon Dance effectively, while Life Orb provides more power if bulk is not needed.
