Jirachi is useful for Psychic, as the chip damage it provides via Stealth Rock can help Latios break through bulky Pokemon more easily; it also switches into Fairy-types that force out Latios such as Tapu Lele and Clefable. If running Choice Scarf, Jirachi can also deal with Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan and provide Healing Wish utility. Hatterene helps combat Dark-types such as Rest Galarian Moltres, and it provides Trick Room to help defeat faster Dark-types such as Choice Scarf Zarude and Weavile. Hatterene deters entry hazards thanks to Magic Bounce. Choice Scarf Tapu Lele helps deal with threats like Bisharp, Weavile, and Dragapult, while Choice Specs Tapu Lele can help defeat Tyranitar, which Latios can't break through on its own. Mew can shut down bulkier Pokemon such as Porygon2 and Landorus-T with Will-O-Wisp in tandem with Taunt and Knock Off, which Latios heavily appreciates, while also setting Spikes or Stealth Rock. To add onto that, Ash-Greninja also forces damage on Ferrothorn, and Mega Latios can take advantage of checks to it like Arghonaut and Toxapex. Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Celesteela that struggle with Fire-types like Heatran and Volkraken appreciate Mega Latios's ability to check them. Magnezone can consistently take out Steel-types like Celesteela and Ferrothorn that trouble Mega Latios. Furthermore, Magnezone and other Steel-types like Heatran and Magearna can also check Fairy-types like Jumbao and Clefable. Pokemon like Shift Gear Magearna and Quiver Dance Aurumoth are good teammates, as they appreciate Mega Latios's ability to weaken Pokemon like Magearna and Heatran.

With its Choice Scarf, it can easily revenge kill numerous threats such as Choice Scarf Blacephalon and non-Choice Scarf Greninja. Thanks to this, it is one of the most valuable Pokemon in the Dragon matchup, allowing it to claim a KO with Draco Meteor and then switch out to a defensive teammate such as Jirachi or Slowbro. Finally, Latios can use Memento to support teammates such as Nasty Plot Celebi and Swords Dance Mega Gallade by weakening the foe, allowing them to set up with more ease. Team Options Latios's teammates appreciate its ability to clear entry hazards and beat faster Pokemon such as Nihilego and Mega Pinsir. Victini greatly appreciates Latios being able to run Choice Scarf in its stead, allowing it to act as a better wallbreaker with Choice Band. It can pretty much claim a KO each time it comes in, as barely anything can take a Choice Band-boosted V-create, breaking past typical Latios answers such as Chansey with ease. Mega Gallade can break past Latios's answers such as Alolan Muk and Tyranitar with Close Combat. It also appreciates the Memento support Latios can provide, as this lets it set up with more ease. Alakazam provides an emergency check to dangerous physical attackers such as Mega Sharpedo and Alolan Muk with Counter and to a significant threat in Mimikyu with Shadow Ball, thanks to Magic Guard and Focus Sash. Jirachi provides Stealth Rock support, allowing Latios to take on threats such as Volcarona more easily. Jirachi can also cripple faster Pokemon such as Greninja with Thunder Wave as well as tank Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type moves for Latios such as Alolan Ninetales's Blizzard, Mega Diancie's Moonblast, and opposing Latios's Draco Meteor. In return, Latios provides a Ground-type immunity for Jirachi. Metagross can act as a dangerous physical wallbreaker and most importantly threaten Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mimikyu with Meteor Mash and Bullet Punch as well as break past Latios's checks such as Chansey and Ferrothorn with Hammer Arm. Slowbro acts as a physical wall, allowing it to check many Pokemon that threaten Latios such as Landorus-T, Mamoswine, and Mega Lopunny. On top of this it provides a solid neutrality to Ice-type attacks thanks to Slack Off and Regenerator, allowing it to switch into multiple attacks throughout the game.

At this point, Latios should switch out to a teammate that can take on the switch. Latios heavily depends on its item to get off massive damage. Therefore, it should avoid getting its item removed from Knock Off. It should also avoid paralysis, as that severely cuts its Speed, allowing more Pokemon to take it on such as Diggersby. Being poisoned or burned also chips Latios and should be avoided; however, they are not as crippling to Latios as paralysis is. Celebi also can act as a status absorber for Latios thanks to Natural Cure. Slowbro can cripple fast threats such as Mega Lopunny and Greninja with Thunder Wave while acting as a reliable physical wall thanks to Slack Off and Regenerator. Additionally, it can switch into threats to Latios such as Mamoswine thanks to it acting as a solid Ice-type resistance. Metagross can take on Fairy-type Pokemon for Latios such as Mega Diancie and Azumarill with its powerful STAB attack in Meteor Mash and priority move in Bullet Punch. Additionally, it can act as a solid Dragon-type switch-in for Latios due to its resistance to Dragon and its good natural bulk.

It also needs maximum investment in Special Attack to hit as hard as possible. Levitate lets Latios safely switch into Spikes and Toxic Spikes before Defogging them away and provides an immunity to Ground-type moves. Usage Tips Latios is best used when it's preserved to check fast threats to Dragon teams, such as Tapu Koko and setup sweepers like Mega Charizard X. On the other hand, Latios's decent typing and bulk let it switch into some resisted moves like Mega Charizard Y's Focus Blast. When revenge killing foes, be careful of doing so with Draco Meteor. Due to its nasty side effect of dropping Latios's Special Attack by two stages, Latios is forced to switch out and lose momentum for the team, as it can otherwise become setup fodder to strong sweepers like Mew and Bisharp. Also, be wary of Fairy- and Dark-types on the opposing team, such as Tapu Koko on Electric and Greninja on Water, as the former group is immune to Latios's Draco Meteor while the latter group is unaffected by its Psyshock. In both scenarios, Latios is forced out. Latios can Defog entry hazards in many circumstances; for instance, it's recommended to use Defog when Latios forces out a slower Pokemon or a foe that is Choice-locked into a resisted move, such as a Keldeo locked into Secret Sword, or against a wall that doesn't threaten Latios, such as Mantine. Additionally, like all other entry hazard removers, Latios can even directly switch into some hazard setters that it forces out, such as Hippowdon and Swampert, in order to use Defog as they switch out. However, locking Latios into Defog can give dangerous setup sweepers like Mega Scizor and Mimikyu free setup opportunities. Lastly, use Trick to lure in and cripple expected switch-ins like Chansey and Mantine for the remainder of the game by trading their item for a Choice Scarf. Moreover, crippling Stealth Rock setters like Heatran and Hippowdon makes it much easier for Latios to clear entry hazards throughout the match, which greatly helps its teammates to come on the field unharmed. On the other hand, unless Latios is no longer needed to outspeed specific threats on the opposing team, such as Tapu Koko, it is better to keep the Choice Scarf for itself, as Latios then becomes easy to revenge kill. Team Options Every Dragon team appreciates having Latios as a teammate to remove entry hazards with Defog and efficiently revenge kill threats. Dragonite is a powerful physical wallbreaker that blasts through Latios's checks like Mantine and Heatran and helps immensely in the Steel matchup, where Latios doesn't do much besides helping keep faster foes in check, and it also helps Latios with the Normal matchup. In return, Latios can remove Stealth Rock with Defog so that Dragonite can keep its Multiscale intact when it enters the field. Additionally, Dragonite brings Dragon's best priority option with Extreme Speed. Kyurem-B is an excellent mixed wallbreaker that greatly helps Latios against balance builds such as Flying and Steel so that it has an easier time cleaning the opposing team. In return, Latios takes care of Fighting-types like Terrakion and Keldeo while removing Stealth Rock and other entry hazards with Defog for Kyurem-B. Kommo-o is a useful sweeper that greatly helps in the Dark, Normal, and Steel matchups that Latios has lots of trouble against, while Latios removes problematic Toxic Spikes that greatly hinder Kommo-o and cleans late-game after Kommo-o has partly swept the opposing team. Choice Specs Hydreigon is a secondary wallbreaker that mainly deals with Steel- and Psychic-types that resist Latios's STAB moves, such as Skarmory and Jirachi, and can switch into Dark- and Ghost-type moves aimed at Latios. In return, Latios breaks problematic Fighting-types like Mega Lopunny and Choice Scarf Buzzwole and cleans the opposing team after Hydreigon has punched holes in it. Garchomp is yet another teammate that breaks Steel-types with Ground- and Fire-type moves in addition to setting up Stealth Rock to discourage opposing teams from switching in and out too often. Mega Altaria is a threatening sweeper that can take on Dark-types that trouble Latios like Mega Sableye and Tyranitar, while Latios can deal with annoying Poison-types like Mega Venusaur and Toxapex for Mega Altaria. Mega Latias is a different bulky setup sweeper that can break bulkier teams and use some of Latios's checks, such as Chansey and Ferrothorn, as setup fodder. However, using both Latios and Mega Latias in the same team will amplify the Bug, Dark and Ghost weaknesses, so it's highly recommended to wisely choose the other teammates to counter this issue.

Moves Psychic is Mega Latios's strongest Psychic-type STAB attack, allowing it to take on Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Toxapex. Earthquake hits Pokemon like Alolan Muk and Heatran, which tank its other two moves with ease. Hidden Power Fire allows Mega Latios to hit Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor that would otherwise wall it. Recover keeps Mega Latios healthy throughout the match, allowing it to threaten the opposing team with its powerful attacks. Set Details 252 Special Attack and Speed EVs alongside a Naive nature maximize Mega Latios's offensive potential by reaching maximum Speed, allowing it to outpace Pokemon like Blacephalon without compromising the power of Earthquake. Levitate allows Mega Latios to switch into Ground-type attacks such as Sand Rush Excadrill's Earthquake. Latiosite allows Latios to Mega Evolve and gives it a boost in Attack and Special Attack. Usage Tips Mega Latios should be used to pressure Steel-types with the combination of Earthquake and Hidden Power Fire, since all common Steel-types bar Celesteela are 2HKOed by its coverage. Keep Mega Latios at near full health the entire game so it can continue to wallbreak. Mega Latios should switch into special wallbreakers that other teammates cannot wall, such as Mega Charizard Y, and Recover off the damage done. Mega Latios should avoid Thunder Wave and Toxic, as the former prevents it from outspeeding key threats such as Belly Drum Azumarill and Mega Scizor, while the latter puts it on a timer that limits its time in battle. Latios can bluff a Choice Scarf set in the Poison matchup in order to lure in checks such as Alolan Muk, proceeding to 2HKO it with Earthquake rather than being Pursuit trapped. Other Pokemon on the team such as Latias and Slowbro can bluff Mega Evolution, allowing Latios to pick up surprise OHKOs on Pokemon such as Scizor with Hidden Power Fire. Team Options Mew can cripple Pokemon such as Bisharp and Mega Aerodactyl with Will-O-Wisp and can shut down walls like Chansey and Porygon2 with Taunt and Knock Off. Mew can also support Mega Latios offensively by opting to run a Double Dance set, allowing it to beat common Choice Scarf Pokemon that threaten Mega Latios such as Heracross and Greninja after a Rock Polish. In return, Mega Latios can beat Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Alolan Muk for Mew with Hidden Power Fire and Earthquake, respectively. Jirachi can set up Stealth Rock for Mega Latios and provide a Fairy- and Dragon-type switch-in for it. In return, Mega Latios can take care of Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Ferrothorn with Psychic and Hidden Power Fire, respectively. Victini forms an amazing Steel-type breaking core with Latios. In addition, Victini can break through Pokemon like Celesteela, Chansey, and Porygon2 for Mega Latios, while Mega Latios can break through Pokemon like Heatran and Toxapex for Victini. With access to Focus Sash and Counter, Alakazam acts as a last-ditch check to any non Ghost-type physical attacker such as Bisharp, Excadrill, and Mega Charizard X while at full health. Alakazam can also help take on Pokemon like Mega Sableye for Mega Latios by running Dazzling Gleam. Latias can bluff as the team's Mega Evolution while also being able to provide Healing Wish support for Mega Latios, giving it a second chance to sweep. In return, Latios can take care of Pokemon like Alolan Muk, which give Latias trouble. Slowbro can also bluff the Mega Evolution slot and can take on Pokemon like Mega Sharpedo for Mega Latios. In return, Mega Latios can take on Pokemon like Tyranitar and Alolan Muk for it. Metagross can help Mega Latios take on Ice- and Fairy-type Pokemon such as Kyurem-B and Mega Diancie. Celebi can set up Stealth Rock, allowing Mega Latios to pick up OHKOs on Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, which would otherwise be 2HKOed by Hidden Power Fire.

Moves Draco Meteor is Latios's main STAB move that lets it take on Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Kommo-o. Thunderbolt allows Latios to hit Pokemon such as Celesteela, which resists Draco Meteor, for super effective damage. It also allows Latios to threaten Flying and Water teams in tandem with Draco Meteor. Calm Mind allows Latios to become a powerful setup sweeper, allowing it to tank Greninja's attacks and OHKO Slowbro with Draco Meteor. Roost gives Latios a reliable form of recovery, allowing it to set up Calm Mind with more ease. Set Details Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment alongside a Timid nature allows Latios to hit as fast and hard as possible. This allows it to revenge kill prominent Pokemon such as Keldeo and Landorus. Dragonium Z turns Latios's Draco Meteor into Devastating Drake, allowing it to OHKO Pokemon such as Toxapex after a single Calm Mind boost. Usage Tips While Latios's most reliable move is Draco Meteor, it should be careful of when it uses it. Since it cuts Latios's Special Attack in half after one use, it is forced to switch out often, allowing the opponent to play around Latios. However, if Latios can pick up a KO with Draco Meteor and no threatening Pokemon can freely switch in, it should click Draco Meteor. Latios should set up Calm Mind against Pokemon it forces out or Pokemon that cannot touch it such as Landorus, allowing it to take advantage of the free switch, and set up Calm Mind. Latios should save Devastating Drake for when it can be guaranteed to pick up a KO or put a foe in the range of its attacks. If a Fairy-type is present on the opponent's side of the field, it might be best to save Devastating Drake. However, it should always be used if the Pokemon in front of Latios threatens the rest of the team such as Bisharp. Latios should keep its health up throughout the match with Roost, allowing it to continually switch into attacks such as Landorus's Sludge Wave and Mega Charizard Y's Fire Blast. This also allows Latios to set up Calm Mind more easily, so keeping Latios as healthy as possible is most of the time the most optimal play. However, if the foe can afflict Latios with status, it is best to switch out and find a safer time to set up, as being paralyzed or poisoned severely hinders Latios's ability to act as a setup sweeper. Latios should be used to break apart Water- and Flying-type teams, since Devastating Drake can dent both types and it can use Thunderbolt to pick off Pokemon such as Tapu Fini and Celesteela, which either are immune to or resist its Dragon-type STAB move. Team Options Victini can break past Latios's checks such as Chansey and Ferrothorn with its Choice Band-boosted V-create, allowing Latios to clean up more easily late-game. Victini can also cripple walls such as Tyranitar with Trick, allowing Latios to take them on with more ease. In return, Latios provides Victini with a Ground immunity and can break past its checks such as Swampert with Devastating Drake. Latios can also switch into Water-types such as Keldeo thanks to Roost. Choice Scarf Latias frees up Latios to run this wallbreaker set, as the former takes on the role of the Choice Scarf Defogger. It can revenge kill threats such as Choice Scarf Blacephalon for Latios as well as provide it with Healing Wish support so it can have a second chance to sweep. Mega Gallade is a fantastic partner for Latios, as they naturally break past the other's checks. Gallade can take on specially defensive Pokemon such as Zapdos for Latios, which can break past Mandibuzz for Mega Gallade in return. Mega Gallade can also pick off weakened Pokemon such as Mimikyu with its Disguise broken through Shadow Sneak. Jirachi provides Stealth Rock support for Latios as well as a handful of critical resistances to Fairy- and Ice-type attacks, taking such foes on with Iron Head. In return, Latios provides a Ground immunity for Jirachi. Jirachi can pivot Latios in safely with slow U-turn and cripple faster foes such as Kommo-o with Thunder Wave. Alakazam provides Latios with an emergency check to all physical attackers such as Mega Sharpedo and Alolan Muk thanks to its ability Magic Guard alongside Focus Sash and Counter. It can also help break past Steel-and Ghost-types for Latios such as Ferrothorn with its Focus Blast and Alolan Marowak with Shadow Ball. Mew acts as a stallbreaker, crippling all walls for Latios. With Knock Off + Taunt, it can successfully cripple all walls by removing their items such as Porygon2's Eviolite and prevent them from recovering off damage with Taunt. Additionally, it can cripple physical attackers such as Excadrill and Mega Swampert with Will-O-Wisp, allowing Latios to beat them more comfortably. Slowbro can take pressure off Latios to act as a switch-in to Ground-type attacks thanks to enormous physical bulk, allowing it to switch into attackers such as Mamoswine. It can also provide utility in Thunder Wave, slowing down faster threats for Latios. Additionally, it provides Scald support, sporting a chance to burn the foe and in tandem, with Colbur Berry it can check threats such as Bisharp. Deoxys-S can set up dual screens and Stealth Rock for Latios on hyper offensive teams. Additionally, Deoxys-S can cripple walls and attackers with Knock Off being able to remove key items such as Victini's Choice Scarf and Chansey's Eviolite. It can also prevent other entry hazard setters such as Hippowdon and Ferrothorn from setting up their entry hazards with Taunt.

With a Calm Mind boost, Latios can become a fearsome special sweeper. Draco Meteor may seem to conflict with Calm Mind due to the Special Attack drop, but its power is so great that it's worth the moveslot, especially when using it with Dragonium Z. If Aegislash and Mega Metagross are especially problematic, Ghostium Z is a good choice as well. Life Orb is notable for the ability to 2HKO Chansey with a boosted Psyshock. While Mega Latios is usually a poor choice for a Mega Evolution, Latiosite can be a reasonable option if the Mega Evolution slot is free, since it also gives Latios a good chance of 2HKOing Chansey after one boost with Psyshock and gives it a bit of extra bulk. Finally, Soul Dew can be used, since it still allows a boosted Psyshock to 2HKO Chansey, though without the boost to coverage moves Life Orb provides.

Latios is a fast and powerful special attacker, so it's a perfect candidate for Choice Specs. The choice between Psychic and Psyshock depends on what you want to hit harder: physically defensive Pokemon or specially defensive Pokemon. If coverage isn't very important, Trick can also be used to cripple specially defensive Pokemon. Note that Latios is easily revenge killed by most Fairy-type Pokemon, so use Draco Meteor sparingly during the early parts of the game. If restricting Latios to Choice Specs isn't possible, Dragonium Z is a great alternative for an extremely powerful Devastating Drake. Choice Scarf is also a good choice for allowing Latios to revenge kill fast Pokemon such as Mega Gengar. Just note that Latios is very vulnerable to bulky Dark- and Steel-types such as Tyranitar, Aegislash, and Heatran.

Latios may seem built for attacking, but its access to Reflect, Light Screen, and Memento make it a potent sacrificial support Pokemon, capable of helping sweepers set up at the right time. Draco Meteor and Psychic are good offensive options for slamming particularly vulnerable Pokemon, but Thunder Wave is extremely useful for setting up slower teammates. Most notably, its one of the best partners to Extreme Evoboost Eevee, Baton Pass Blaziken, and Moody Glalie.

Moves Calm Mind increases Latios's Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage each, enabling Latios to set up and drop powerful boosted attacks, as well as potentially pull off a late-game sweep. Draco Meteor is Latios's primary STAB move and is extremely difficult to switch into after a Calm Mind boost or two. Psyshock is a secondary STAB move that allows Latios to avoid Draco Meteor's Special Attack drop and bypass certain special walls and Fairies. Roost improves Latios's longevity, while Hidden Power allows Latios to get past most Steel-types. Set Details 252 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature maximize Latios's wallbreaking capabilities. 252 Speed EVs are needed to be able to Speed tie with other neutral-natured Pokemon with base 110 Speed and outspeed positive-natured Pokemon with base 95 Speed. If Hidden Power Fire is not used, a Timid nature can be a decent option, sacrificing some power for the ability to outspeed or at least Speed tie with other positive-natured Pokemon with base 110 Speed. Usage Tips The main emphasis of Calm Mind Latios is on wallbreaking, as very few Pokemon can take Soul Dew-boosted +1 or +2 Draco Meteors. Note that Roost gives Latios much more longevity, allowing it to check some Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre variants throughout a match; against Calm Mind Primal Kyogre, Latios can set up Calm Mind alongside it and eliminate it with Psyshock. Late-game, Calm Mind Latios can set up and potentially pull off a sweep, but this is difficult to do so because Draco Meteor lowers Latios's Special Attack and makes it easier for Latios to be forced out. Calm Mind Latios differs from all-out attacking sets in that the focus is on the raw power of a Calm Mind-boosted Draco Meteor and not on coverage. Team Options Geomancy Xerneas, Dragon Dance Mega Salamence, Swords Dance Arceus, and Rock Polish Primal Groudon are good teammates for Latios because they can clean after Latios breaks down opposing walls. Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh can punish Steel-types, which are the most common switch-ins to Latios. Steel-types such as Klefki, Bronzong, Jirachi, and Ferrothorn can check the Fairy- and Dragon-types that can threaten Latios. Finally, Fairies such as Xerneas, Klefki, and Mega Diancie check Dark- and Dragon-type Pokemon that threaten Latios.

Moves Defog allows Latios to remove entry hazards for its teammates. Draco Meteor is Latios's most powerful STAB attack and is the most potent move for wallbreaking. Psyshock is another STAB option that hits Fairies and specially bulky Pokemon such as Blissey and Ho-Oh; it also does not drop Latios's Special Attack stat after being used. Roost greatly improves Latios's longevity, allowing it to use Defog and check threats such as Primal Kyogre more consistently. Hidden Power Fire can be used instead to hit Steel-types that resist both Draco Meteor and Psyshock super effectively, trading longevity for coverage. Memento allows Latios to prevent setup sweepers from boosting after Latios uses Draco Meteor and can also be used to create setup opportunities for Latios's teammates after Latios is no longer needed. Set Details Maximum Speed investment allows Latios to make use of its good Speed tier and outspeed a good portion of the metagame. A Modest nature with 252 Special Attack EVs is preferred to maximize Latios's damage output and pressure threats such as Primal Groudon; however, a Timid nature can be used if it is necessary to Speed tie with other Pokemon that have base 110 Speed. Some lower Speed benchmarks can be used with a Timid nature; for example, running 176 Speed EVs allows Latios to outspeed fully invested base 100 Speed Pokemon. When using Hidden Power Fire with a Timid nature, 180 Speed EVs should be invested to compensate for the lower Speed IV. Usage Tips While Latios should be played aggressively to make use of its offensive capabilities, it is important to manage how much HP Latios has so that it can still use Defog and check opposing threats throughout a match. Be careful when using Draco Meteor, as after the resulting Special Attack drop, Latios will likely be forced out; this can create setup opportunities for opposing sweepers. Additionally, when using Defog against Primal Groudon, be wary of Thunder Wave and Dragon-type moves, which Primal Groudon carries somewhat frequently. Memento can be used to prevent an opposing sweeper from setting up freely or to create a setup opportunity for Latios's teammates; however, do not sacrifice Latios too early and risk opening up a weakness to Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre. Team Options Primal Groudon is a good partner for Latios because it can switch in and threaten the Fairy- and Steel-types that commonly check Latios. Ho-Oh also threatens many of Latios's checks, including Arceus-Ghost, Fairies, Steel-types, and some Darkrai sets; it also greatly appreciates Latios's Defog. Steel-types, such as Klefki, Skarmory, Jirachi, Ferrothorn, and Aegislash, make for good teammates because they check Fairy- and Dragon-types by virtue of their typing. Finally, setup sweepers such as Xerneas and Swords Dance Arceus can benefit from Memento if it is used.

Set Details Running a Modest nature with 252 Special Attack EVs maximizes Latios's damage output so that it can wallbreak better. Maximum Speed is necessary in order to outspeed positive-natured base 95s, such as Jolly Rayquaza. If Hidden Power Fire is not used, a Timid nature is an option to at worst tie with other Pokemon with base 110 Speed. Usage Tips This Latios set is primarily a wallbreaker and should be used in a hit-and-run fashion. Switch Latios into a foe that it threatens and attack with the appropriate coverage move. Do not be afraid to make predictions in order to 2HKO certain switch-ins; however, be careful not to play too aggressively and open up a sweeping opportunity. This Latios set can check some Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, but note that it can only do so one or two times per match. Team Options Setup sweepers, such as Swords Dance Arceus, Geomancy Xerneas, Rock Polish Primal Groudon, and Dragon Dance Mega Salamence, make for good partners because they greatly benefit from Latios's ability to break down opposing walls. Steel-types also make for good partners because they check the Fairy- and Dragon-types that force Latios out after Latios gets a KO. Finally, entry hazards can wear down some walls for Latios, so Stealth Rock users such as Primal Groudon and Bronzong and Spikes users such as Klefki and Skarmory are good teammates for Latios.

Ice Beam lets Latios threaten Flying-type Pokemon such as Togekiss, Zapdos, and Landorus without dropping its Special Attack through Draco Meteor but leaves it unable to damage the Steel-type Pokemon that severely threaten a Psychic team. Thunderbolt can be used to hit bulky Water-type Pokemon such as Azumarill, Gyarados, and Empoleon. Set Details Maximum Special Attack investment boosts Latios's Special Attack as much as possible without a boosting nature. A Timid nature with maximum Speed EVs is used to make Latios as fast as possible and allows it to Speed tie with other base 110 Speed Pokemon such as Latias, Gengar, and Mega Diancie. Life Orb boosts the power of Latios's attacks at the cost of having recoil damage. Usage Tips Most teams in the Monotype metagame don't have great Latios counters, so playing aggressively with it can often break down opposing teams quickly. Because of its amazing Special Attack, Latios can easily KO or weaken Pokemon heavily with Draco Meteor early-game to help its teammates or itself clean up later, but one should be wary of overusing it, as it severely reduces Latios's Special Attack each time it's used. Latios should be kept until late-game because it's an excellent cleaner. If Latios has Roost, it should be liberal with using Defog; if it doesn't, however, one needs to be more careful with managing its health, as Life Orb will slowly chip away at its HP, so making sure it can Defog when it's necessary. If Latios has Roost, furthermore, it can freely switch in and out against most non-super effective hits and use it to heal itself. Latios is Pursuit bait and one should be careful if there is a Pursuit user on the opposing team. Team Options Latios and Mega Medicham work together greatly as an offensive duo. They can work together to break each other's checks and counters. Mega Medicham can threaten Dark-type Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Bisharp, while Latios can take care of Mandibuzz and Sableye. Mega Medicham also wears down Pokemon through its sheer power and use of Fake Out, letting Latios clean up late-game. Mega Gardevoir is another Mega Pokemon that can break cores together with Latios. Especially against Dark teams, Mega Gardevoir can deal with most Pokemon to let Latios clean up. Victini is another good partner for Latios, as it helps it deal with Bug-type Pokemon, which generally pose a problem for Latios. Furthermore, Victini is a good Choice Scarf user and can KO threats like Choice Scarf Heracross and Mega Pinsir with its STAB Fire-type moves. Victini can pivot through the use of U-turn and bring in Latios safely. Victini also appreciates Latios's ability to clear away entry hazards for it. Hoopa-U forms a great offensive partnership with Latios by using a mixed set to beat Pokemon that could trouble Latios such as Steel-type Pokemon like Heatran, Doublade, and Ferrothorn. Hoopa-U also deals with Latios's weakness to Ghost-type Pokemon such as Gengar and Choice Scarf Chandelure. Mew sets up Stealth Rock for Latios, allowing it to break through Pokemon more easily. Using Defog on Latios also frees up a moveslot on Mew, letting it run more useful moves. Mew also generally walls and beats most Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokemon that threaten Latios; the likes of Mega Diancie and opposing Latios can't break through it. Jirachi is an alternative Stealth Rock user that is particularly great due to resisting Fairy- and Dragon-type moves, which Latios is weak to. Like Victini, Jirachi can also be used as a Choice Scarf user and pivot through U-turn to bring Latios in safely. Slowbro is a great defensive backbone for Latios, as it can easily switch into U-turn and take Knock Off if it runs Colbur Berry.

Moves Draco Meteor is Latios's most powerful STAB move and deals a lot of damage to most Pokemon that don't resist it, while Psystrike allows it to get around special walls such as Chansey, as well as deal some damage to Fairy-types such as Diancie and Clefable and hit Assault Vest users such as Tornadus-T. Defog provides utility by removing entry hazards for Latios's team, allowing Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock such as Thundurus to easily switch in and fire off strong attacks. Lunar Dance allows Latios to sacrifice itself and bring something in to clean up after it punches sufficient holes in the opponent's team. It also gives sweepers such as Mega Tyranitar a second shot if they are weakened. Roost allows Latios to stick around throughout the match and keep firing off strong attacks. Hidden Power Fire can be used over Defog to allow Latios to hit Steel-types such as Metagross, Excadrill, and Ferrothorn. However, it lowers Latios' Speed IVs by one, which leaves it outsped by base 110 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Gengar, Latias, and other Latios. Earthquake can be used to let Latios lure in and defeat Steel-types such as Heatran, specially defensive Jirachi, and Assault Vest Metagross. Spacial Rend is an option over Draco Meteor. It doesn't lower Special Attack, which means Latios won't have to switch out as much. However, it is weaker and falls short of a lot of KOs. Set Details Maximum Special Attack investment is used to hit as hard as possible, and maximum Speed investment is used to take advantage of Latios's great Speed tier. If Earthquake is used, move the last 4 EVs to Attack and use a Hasty nature to preserve Latios's better special bulk. Life Orb is the item of choice for a large power boost while still being able to switch moves. A Timid allows Latios to outrun Pokemon with lower than base 110 Speed, such as Terrakion, Keldeo, and Mega Charizard X and Y. Levitate, aside from being Latios's only legal ability, allows Latios to switch into Ground-type moves and not be affected by Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Usage Tips Latios is best used as an early-game wallbreaker or late-game cleaner, as it is able to hit a lot of threats such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Keldeo very hard, if not outright OHKO them. Ideally, it should be brought in on resisted special hits such as Secret Sword, Blue Flare, and Origin Pulse, as well as Ground-type moves such as Precipice Blades. If Hidden Power Fire is used, beware of Pokemon like Heatran, which is immune to Fire, and special walls such as Porygon2 switching in. You also have to predict with Earthquake, as it will potentially allow Flying-types such as Tornadus-T to switch in. Unfortunately, Earthquake comes off of Latios's lower Attack stat. Latios can be used as a late-game cleaner as well once its checks and counters are weakened or removed. In addition to this, Lunar Dance should be used wisely, as while you only get one chance at using it, it can be used to give a sweeper a second chance at cleaning up the opponent's team after its checks and counters have been removed. It can also be used if Latios risks being Pursuit trapped, bringing in something else and fully healing it to deal with the Pursuit trapper. Use Defog against more passive walls to avoid giving a dangerous boosting Pokemon a free turn or taking more damage than necessary, although it should not be used until Pokemon with Defiant, such as Braviary, physical Thundurus, and Bisharp, have been removed. Team Options Keldeo is a prime teammate for Latios, as it can easily clean late-game once Latios has sufficiently weakened walls, and it can safely set up with Calm Mind once its counters are removed. It also counters Dark-types such as Tyranitar and Weavile and can set up on them with Calm Mind. Pokemon that appreciate entry hazard removal, such as Gyarados, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Aerodactyl, make for good teammates, as they have a Stealth Rock weakness and appreciate being able to switch in more freely. Steel-types such as Heatran can beat threatening Ice-types such as Weavile as well as Fairy-type Pokemon such as Clefable, Sylveon, and Mega Gardevoir. Late-game sweepers such as Swords Dance Weavile and Nasty Plot Thundurus can take advantage of the holes that Latios will break with its powerful attacks, being able to easily set up and clean the opposing team. Offensive entry hazard setters such as Stealth Rock Garchomp can guarantee OHKOs with Draco Meteor and cripple its switch-ins. Klefki and Ferrothorn are good teammates if bulkier hazard setters are preferred. They can easily switch in on the Dragon- and Fairy-type moves that trouble Latios and set up entry hazards that allow Latios to secure the OHKO on Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro and Mega Diancie.

Moves Draco Meteor is Latios's most powerful STAB move and is able to KO or at least deal significant damage to most targets. However, it has the drawback of lowering Latios's Special Attack by two stages, so Draco Meteor has to be used carefully or else Latios will easily become setup bait for switch-ins that resist or are immune to Dragon. Psyshock is a secondary STAB move that hits does not lower Latios's power. As Psyshock tagets physical defense, it can also hit foes with lower Defense than Special Defense, such as Mega Charizard Y, and Pokemon holding an Assault Vest harder. Psychic can be used instead for its higher Base Power to hit threats such as Amoonguss and Landorus-T harder. Tailwind lets Latios support its teammates by doubling their Speed, helping them outspeed and KO threats they couldn't safely otherwise. Using Tailwind also lets Latios act while ignoring opposing Sucker Punch, essentially gaining a free turn to set up while avoiding getting KOed. On teams that don't need Tailwind support, Hidden Power Ground is a useful option for OHKOing Heatran and threathening other Steel-types that would otherwise wall Latios, such as Aegislash and Mega Metagross. The final move, Protect, is a staple move, letting Latios stall out field conditions, shield itself from damage, and give teammates room to do work. Set Details Life Orb boosts Latios's damage output to higher levels, letting it easily get more KOs. Draco Plate is a usable alternative to still boost Draco Meteor's power but without the recoil, but its lower power boost and limit to Dragon-type moves make it unappealing. The given EV investment maximizes power and Speed. With Timid, Latios outruns many notable threats such as Terrakion, Keldeo, and Mega Charizard Y. Usage Tips With Latios's high power, it is recommended to blast holes in the opposing team early-game with Draco Meteor. Be wary of using Draco Meteor, however, if the opponent still has healthy Steel- or Fairy-type Pokemon to switch in. Due to Draco Meteor's drawbacks and Life Orb recoil, it's recommended to play Latios as a hit-and-run attacker, switching out after a successful hit in order to shake off the Special Attack drop. In cases when using Draco Meteor is not preferred, such as when Latios doesn't want to incur the Special Attack drop, it can attack with Psyshock instead. Thanks to its nice defensive typing along with Levitate, Latios can function as a switch-in for numerous notable attacks, especially special ones such as Hydro Pump and Heat Wave. It's useful to set Tailwind in cases when Latios can safely do so, such as when it can take any move the opposing Pokemon have or when Latios can threaten to KO. Doing so can maintain momentum and let Latios's teammates be much more dangerous, getting KOs on threats they wouldn't be able to otherwise. Using Tailwind can also let Latios avoid opposing Sucker Punch in a pinch while still being helpful to its team. In the late-game, Latios can function effectively as a cleaner thanks to its high power and Speed. Team Options As Latios is an offensive Pokemon, it greatly appreciates teammates that can beat or at least switch in on opposing Pokemon that check it. Steel-types such as Mega Metagross and Heatran make for good partners, as they can switch in on opposing Dragon- and Fairy-type moves safely. Pokemon that can reliably switch in and beat opposing Dark-types are also recommended. Terrakion matches up well against Dark-type Pokemon, as it is able to get an Attack boost by switching in on Dark-type attacks thanks to Justified, while Mega Kangaskhan can nab KOs on a number of Dark-types and at the same time boost its Attack by using Power-Up Punch. Other Fighting-types such as Breloom and Scrafty can also fare well against Dark-type Pokemon, though Scrafty must be wary of giving opposing Bisharp a Defiant boost with its Intimidate. Latios also appreciates Quick Guard to block strong priority attacks such as Sucker Punch and Talonflame's Gale Wings Brave Bird. Again, Terrakion makes a good teammate because it can beat opposing Dark-types while being able to support Latios with Quick Guard. Fake Out support is useful to give Latios a free turn to set Tailwind or get a free turn to hit with Draco Meteor. Mega Kangaskhan has access to Fake Out and is a very strong attacker overall, and Scrafty can provide additional support with Intimidate. Pokemon that work well in Tailwind appreciate Latios as a partner as well. Breloom works well in Tailwind, as the Speed boost allows it to neuter almost any active threat with Spore. Strong attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Charizard Y also appreciate being able to attack with less risk of being outrun and damaged.

Mold Breaker Mega Latios is an incredibly powerful sweeper that threatens the vast majority of the metagame with its Soul Dew-boosted attacks. Spore and Dark Void allow for easier setup with Shell Smash while also heavily disrupting teams. Shell Smash bolsters Mega Latios's offensive prowess, boosting its Special Attack and Speed enough to OHKO bulky Pokemon such as Mega Audino after Stealth Rock, Primal Kyogre, Arceus, and Yveltal. The boost to Speed also lets Mega Latios outspeed every Pokemon in the metagame, bar some Choice Scarf users such as Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Psystrike and Spacial Rend complement each other well; Spacial Rend is the primary STAB move, and OHKOes or 2HKOes the majority of foes after Shell Smash, while Psystrike handles special walls like Blissey, Chansey, and Primal Kyogre and Ho-Oh more reliably. King's Shield is an option over Spore and Dark Void to improve Mega Latios's match up against priority revenge killers such as Shadow Tag Regigigas, Aerilate Mega Rayquaza, and Huge Power Mewtwo Mega X running Extreme Speed. King's Shield also has additional utility in letting Mega Latios scout sets from offensive Pokemon in a one-on-one situation. 96 Speed EVs allow Mega Latios to outspeed neutral natured base 90 Speed Pokemon. The rest is put into HP to maximize bulk. Mega Latios, an offensive powerhouse, is generally run on fast offense and bulky offense teams. Mega Latios operates best on teams utilizing two Mold Breaker users, as Mega Latios lacks recovery and relies too much on its item to be a good standalone Mold Breaker user; in particular, it pairs well with other bulky Mold Breaker users like Primal Groudon and Mega Tyranitar. Mega Latio's weakness to Pursuit users such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, and Yveltal means it wants to be paired with checks to these such as Xerneas or Shadow Tag Mewtwo Mega X. It also likes Pokemon that can deal with very specially bulky Pokemon such as Blissey, Chansey, Ho-oh, and some Primal Kyogre variants, as these can tank Mega Latio's attacks decently; physical wallbreakers like Huge Power Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Gyarados can be paired with Mega Latios to fix this issue. Running a revenge killer alongside Mega Latios, such as an -ate user or Shadow Tag Regigigas, can be helpful versus Imposter users, as Pokemon that can safely Imposter-proof Mega Latios are very rare, and offensive Imposter-proofing is usually more effective. If running an -ate user, entry hazards like Stealth Rock are useful to keep up the pressure. Substitute + Wonder Guard Pokemon typically also run Defog and Aromatherapy to help keep Mega Latios and other Mold Breaker Pokemon healthy over the course of longer games.

Moves Draco Meteor is easily Latios's most spammable and powerful STAB move, especially when combined with Adaptability or Tinted Lens. Psyshock is Latios's preferred Psychic-type STAB move, hitting Pokemon like Snorlax and Chansey on their weaker Defense. Roost provides Latios with reliable recovery, which is especially useful due to Life Orb recoil, further increasing its longevity. Calm Mind allows Latios to gain extra power if needed, which is really useful in a one-on-one situation against Calm Mind Suicune or a special wall such as Chansey. Alternatively, Defog can allow Latios to provide team support for teammates weak to Stealth Rock, such as Staraptor and Braviary. Set Details A Timid nature and maximum Speed and Special Attack investment allow Latios to Speed tie with other base 110 Speed Pokemon such as Gengar and Mega Diancie while hitting as hard as possible. Life Orb grants a nice, immediate boost to Latios's power. Adaptability gives an enormous boost to Draco Meteor and Psyshock, which easily turns some 2HKOs into OHKOs, most notably allowing Latios to OHKO Manaphy with Draco Meteor. Alternatively, Tinted Lens allows Latios to hit Steel-types very hard on the switch such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn, which are relatively common in the metagame. Usage Tips Draco Meteor might not always be the best move to use, especially considering that the Special Attack drop makes Latios vulnerable to Pursuit trappers. Latios can have a great matchup against any kind of playstyle due to the sheer power it provides, so try to keep it healthy for as long as possible. If using Tinted Lens, it's relatively easy to wear down Steel-types such as Mega Metagross and Jirachi on the switch for teammates to clean them up late-game. If Latios is low on health and likely to force a switch, Roost will most likely be the best play. Try to never keep Latios in on Gale Wings users such as Braviary and Staraptor, as Brave Bird from either of them will easily OHKO Latios before it can move due to its lackluster physical bulk. Team Options Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-types such as Heatran, Landorus, and Lucario are helpful for disposing of Steel-types that resist Latios's STAB moves, but you must be wary of Flash Fire users if using Fire-types. Magnet Pull users such as Heatran and Magnezone can take out Steel-types as well. Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S and Deoxys-D are useful for wearing down specially defensive walls such as Chansey and Snorlax for Latios. Weaker special attackers such as Gengar and Shaymin-S appreciate Latios's wallbreaking ability, as it makes their jobs easier late-game. Steel-types such as Doublade and Skarmory can take on the Refrigerate, Pixilate, and Gale Wings users that threaten Latios.

Psychic is the stronger move on slot 2, unless you want Latios to hit Pokemon such as Sylveon and Assault Vest Conkeldurr for physical damage. Trick can be used to cripple a defensive Pokemon if Latios cannot use its power effectively. Set Details A Timid nature is preferred to outspeed non-Choice Scarf Pokemon such as other Dragon-types and Terrakion. EVs should be invested in Special Attack and Speed, as running EVs for bulk doesn't let Latios survive any specific attacks without considerable investment. Choice Specs lets Latios OHKO neutrally hit Pokemon and can be used to cripple defensive Pokemon with Trick. Usage Tips Use Draco Meteor on threatening foes and switch out afterward. Use Dragon Pulse on other Pokemon in Latios's KO range or during the late-game, but be aware that it's much weaker than Draco Meteor. Use Latios's coverage moves as needed. Team Options Latios likes having Pokemon that can bust through Steel- and Fairy-types as partners. Entei and Arcanine make for good switch-ins to Fairy-type attacks and can take out most Steel-types. Landorus-T and Garchomp make for good partners because of their ability to use Earthquake without hurting Latios and remove Steel-types. Watch out for Blizzard, though. Steel-types have great defensive and solid offensive synergy with Latios. Aegislash can use Wide Guard to protect Latios from Hyper Voice, and can beat fairies. Heatran can KO most Steel-types and has a lot of offensive pressure. Mega Kangaskhan can provide Fake Out support and its awesome raw offensive power helps break throught teams. Hariyama and Hitmontop can lend your team Fake Out support and deal with most Steel-types. Infernape is much frailer than all three, but it takes out virtually every Steel-type, has wicked Speed, and can use Encore to punish Protect and other moves.

Anticipate Draco Meteor switch-ins, because if your opponent has a Steel- or Fairy-type, they will almost always bring it in at the sight of Latios. Consider going for another option such as attacking the slot you think is staying or using Psychic or Hidden Power Ground on the switching slot if you think a Pokemon that can sponge a Draco Meteor is coming. Team Options Latios likes having Pokemon that can bust through Steel- and Fairy-types as partners. Entei and Arcanine make for good switch-ins to Fairy-type attacks and can take out most Steel-types. Landorus-T and Garchomp make for good partners because of their ability to use Earthquake and remove Steel-types without repercussion, as Latios is immune to Ground-type attacks. Watch out for Blizzard, though. Steel-types have great defensive and solid offensive synergy with Latios. Aegislash can use Wide Guard to protect Latios from Hyper Voice, and can beat Fairy-types. Heatran can KO most Steel-types and has a lot of offensive pressure. Latios likes Fake Out support so that it can use Draco Meteor and Tailwind. Mega Kangaskhan can use Fake Out and its awesome raw offensive power helps break throught teams. Hariyama and Hitmontop can lend your team Fake Out support and deal with most Steel-types. Infernape is much frailer than all three, but takes out virtually every Steel-type, has wicked Speed, and can use Encore to punish Protect and other moves.

This set eschews coverage in favor of wallbreaking potential. Though Latios can still be used as a hit-and-run attacker (and will have to be if the opponent has a Genesect), this Latios has the ability to take advantage of switches with Calm Mind. Psyshock and an immunity to Toxic Spikes make Latios a quality Calm Mind user. After a Calm Mind boost or two, Latios has the potential to beat walls it normally has a difficult time bypassing, such as support Arceus and Umbreon. The Special Defense boost also makes Latios incredibly difficult for specially based Choice Scarf users such as Palkia and Kyogre to revenge kill. A +1 Draco Meteor can kill most Arceus formes, though the Special Attack drop will often force Latios to switch out. If the Special Attack drop is unappealing, Dragon Pulse is a reasonable alternative, though the power drop is very noticeable. Psyshock gives Latios the edge in many Calm Mind wars, notably against Calm Mind Arceus formes and Kyogre. Roost is preferred in the final slot to give Latios staying power and potentially sweep, though Latios does not possess great coverage with its two STAB moves. Hidden Power Fire and Thunder are alternatives if coverage is more important to Latios than recovery. Other coverage moves are usable in the fourth slot, such as Surf and Grass Knot, but these don't offer Latios desirable coverage in comparison to Hidden Power Fire or Thunder. To support Calm Mind Latios, physically defensive Wobbuffet can be used to dispose of many physical Choice Scarf users such as Zekrom and Garchomp. Sadly, it cannot deal with Genesect. Again, Rocky Helmet Skarmory makes for an excellent teammate to prevent Genesect from using U-turn repeatedly. Latios also enjoys Pokemon that can destroy Steel-types, such as Earth Plate Groudon and Reshiram. In return, Latios fares well versus Kyogre and Arceus-Water. Other Pokemon that can beat Steel-types, such as Arceus-Fighting, are useful as teammates, though Latios does not cover Arceus-Fighting's weaknesses very well. Finally, all status cripples Latios, so a cleric is appreciated if your team can afford to run one.

Latios's typing, ability, high base Speed, and access to Memento enable it to distinguish itself as an exceptionally good dual screen user. Light Screen and Reflect enable Latios to cushion both it and its team from the enemies' attacks for eight turns. With Memento in his arsenal, Latios can sacrifice himself to lower the offensive stats of an enemy even further, allowing a teammate a free switch-in. The third moveslot choice depends on what the team needs. If Latios's only goal is to cripple an opponent, Draco Meteor lets it do heavy damage before lowering its attacking stats. In addition, Draco Meteor prevents Latios from being destroyed by Taunt and stops Rayquaza from setting up on him. Alternatively, Latios can easily set up screens more than once a match, and Roost enables it to heal itself to do so even more reliably. The listed EV spread allows Latios to avoid a 2HKO on average from Timid Choice Scarf Palkia's Spacial Rend after Light Screen, and Speed tie with other Latios and Latias. If one feels that these Pokemon are simply too uncommon and wishes to increase Latios's bulk, a spread of 252 HP / 64 SpD / 192 Spe lets it outrun all non-Choice Scarf Garchomp, while 252 HP/ 160 SpD / 96 Spe enables it to outspeed all base 90 Speed Pokemon while retaining a fairly high amount of special bulk. Latios has other options outside of Draco Meteor and Roost if more team support is needed. Thunder Wave enables Latios to further cripple his enemies by cutting their Speed and the chance of full paralysis can even help his teammates get an extra boost. Tailwind enables Latios to double the Speed of his team. In particular, it can be used in conjunction with Memento for a teammate to take advantage of the boosts to both bulk and Speed. Finally, Latios can run Dragon Pulse as an option for a more reliable STAB. However, Dragon Pulse is fairly weak and incapable of breaking even the Substitutes of a 252 / 0 Ho-Oh or Lugia. As Latios's main purpose is to help a teammate sweep, it is a good idea to pair it up with stat-boosting teammates, such as Dragon Dance Rayquaza and Shell Smash Cloyster. In particular, Latios enjoys support from Mew and Gorebyss. They are capable of easily accumulating many boosts to pass to a teammate, who can further use the protection provided by dual screens to pave the way for a bulky sweep.

This set plays similarly to the all-out attacker, but with a twist. Due to Latios's already high Speed, the fact that Tailwind doubles its Speed ensures that no Choice Scarf user can outspeed and revenge kill it. Tailwind also gives one of Latios's teammates an opportunity to clean up if Latios falls before the Tailwind peters out. The moves are simple: use Draco Meteor for power, Psyshock for Chansey and Blissey, and Hidden Power Fire or Thunder for coverage. Dragon Pulse can be used over Draco Meteor for consistency. Alternatively, Latios can use Dragon Dance as the boost in Speed does not disappear until Latios either switches out or faints. Dragon Dance gives Latios a better chance to clean by itself, but does not support the rest of the team should Latios fail to sweep. For this reason, Tailwind is often the better choice, especially on hyper offense teams. This Latios prefers to be on teams with heavy offensive pressure, as Tailwind lasts only a few turns. Choice Specs Kyogre, Rayquaza, and Life Orb Ho-Oh all make for excellent partners for Latios as they love the added Speed which Tailwind grants them. Latios cannot check Kyogre by itself, so Arceus-Grass is a solid teammate as it removes some pressure off Latios to deal with Kyogre. Latios can afford to run some bulk to help out against Kyogre due to the fact that Tailwind will allow it to outrun the entire metagame, despite the loss in Speed EVs; at least 176 Speed should be run to outrun Palkia, however. Like the other sets, Latios still appreciates support from Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Arceus-Fighting to remove Steel-types.
