This set attempts to use Tailwind to outspeed opposing Pokemon and remove them from the battle, using Unfezant's niche of getting critical hits with Super Luck. Using Hypnosis and Tailwind allows Unfezant's teammates to get in safely and proceed to sweep. However, there isn't much going for this set because it relies too much on being able to land Hypnosis and gives setup opportunities to the plethora of good sweepers in the tier, like Lycanroc. As a support Pokemon, there is no reason to use Unfezant over Alolan Persian, which has access to Parting Shot, has a greater Speed tier, and gives a lot of defensive utility. Having a Stealth Rock weakness also hinders Unfezant's role as a support Pokemon, so without entry hazard removal, Unfezant has a very hard time pivoting with U-turn and setting up Tailwind multiple times over the game. This Pokemon takes up a teamslot that could be used by Dodrio, which is faster and has access to Swords Dance to break past its checks.

Moves Tailwind doubles Unfezant's and its teammates' Speed for a few turns, which can help your team outpace opposing Pokemon and assist your sweepers. Hypnosis is a very risky move, but if it hits, Unfezant is rewarded by putting the foe to sleep. Taunt can be used over Hypnosis to prevent a slower foe from using a status or setup move, or setting up an entry hazard. U-turn creates momentum by allowing Unfezant to switch out to a teammate. Return gains a STAB boost from Unfezant and can deal a lot of damage to a foe that doesn't resist it, making it Unfezant's main attacking move. Set Details Maximum Attack and Speed with an Adamant nature allows Unfezant to be as fast and powerful as it can be. If Unfezant is running a Jolly nature, it can outpace Articuno and Mr. Mime as well as Taunt users such as Monferno and Misdreavus, although it loses out on power by doing so. Focus Sash can be essential to guarantee Unfezant will set up Tailwind if it is at full health. Scope Lens works together with Super Luck, increasing the chances of Unfezant getting a critical hit to 50%. Usage Tips Unfezant's main priority is setting up Tailwind, so that should be done first unless Unfezant still has its Focus Sash still intact, enabling Unfezant to be a lead for immediate Speed support. After using Hypnosis, U-turn is a good option, as most opponents will choose to switch out if the Pokemon they have in is asleep. U-turn is also a good option if the foe or resists or is immune to Return, or after setting up Tailwind. Return should be used to get the most damage off on a foe that doesn't resist it. Team Options Volt Switch or U-turn users, such as Raichu, Zebstrika, Ninjask, and Jumpluff can form a VoltTurn core with Unfezant. Offensive Pokemon that would do better with a Speed boost, such as Simipour, Stoutland, and Mightyena appreciate Unfezant's Tailwind support. Setup sweepers such as Arbok, Clefairy, Pawniard, and Ninetales appreciate Unfezant putting foes to sleep. Dark-types such as Mightyena and Pawniard can take on Ghost-types for Unfezant. Fighting-types like Monferno can take on Steel- and Rock-type Pokemon for Unfezant with their STAB moves. Ground-types such as Gabite and Golem can take on Rock-, Electric-, and Steel-types for Unfezant.

The best Unfezant can do is support offensive teams with Tailwind to increase their Speed temporarily and help its teammates switch in safely to take advantage of Tailwind as much as possible. Hypnosis puts the opponent to sleep so Unfezant can set up Tailwind while still having time to U-turn into a teammate in order to have an optimal matchup. If the need arises Unfezant can attack using STAB Return, which hits somewhat hard due to Unfezant's good Attack and is the strongest viable move Unfezant has access to. While the premise of this set is simple, Unfezant is still rather unreliable at best, as it is reliant on the inaccurate Hypnosis and the foe being asleep for several turns. Even then, Tailwind is not the greatest strategy as it only lasts for four turns, one of which is most likely used switching Unfezant out. A Focus Sash is used so that Unfezant can survive a hit just in case Hypnosis misses or the opponent is faster. The good news for Unfezant is that it outspeeds Jolly Braviary by one point with an Adamant nature, so it can use Hypnosis on it before getting attacked. Jolly can be used to outspeed Pokemon such as Zangoose and Jolly Sawk that could otherwise defeat Unfezant rather quickly. However, it will usually outspeed all opponents after Tailwind, meaning that the Speed boost from Jolly isn't as important afterward. While maximum HP could be used rather than maximum Attack, Return actually can do a bit of damage and Unfezant still isn't that bulky even with maximum HP. Taunt is a decent alternative way to find a turn to try to set up Tailwind, but Hypnosis is ultimately better despite the imperfect accuracy, as it can incapacitate a Pokemon rather than just block its status moves. In regards to teammates, offensive Pokemon that have a decent Speed but aren't quite fast enough, such as Samurott, Exeggutor, Zangoose, and Sawk, appreciate the boost provided by Tailwind, enabling them to outspeed faster Pokemon that would normally threaten them, such as Charizard. As Unfezant is usually used as a lead and will rarely be useful or have any useful, lasting effects after the first few turns, its weaknesses do not need to be accounted for.
