Moves Coming off Teddiursa's high Attack, Facade is a powerful STAB move after Teddiursa is poisoned. Close Combat usually 2HKOes Ferroseed and punishes other Steel-types, such as Pawniard and Magnemite. Crunch lets Teddiursa nail Gastly and other Ghost-types while providing excellent coverage with Facade. Protect is for activating Toxic Orb safely and stopping Fake Out. However, if Teddiursa is able to be brought in safely, Swords Dance is a useful alternative, as at +2, Teddiursa is able to muscle past even the bulkiest opponents. Set Details 196 Attack EVs are necessary in order for Teddiursa's attacks to hit as hard as possible, while 196 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature allow Teddiursa to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame at 21 Speed after Toxic Orb's activation. The remaining EVs are placed in HP, Defense, and Special Defense to increase Teddiursa's bulk. Usage Tips Bring Teddiursa in on a free switch through a revenge kill or from a slow U-turn or Volt Switch. Teddiursa usually cannot afford to take hits when poisoned. Avoid keeping Teddiursa in for too long as Toxic damage will rack up and Teddiursa lacks recovery. Teddiursa functions best as a late-game cleaner after its bulkier opponents have been worn down by entry hazards and residual damage. Team Options Teddiursa appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Dwebble, Archen, and Ferroseed. However, Teddiursa also cannot afford to take damage from entry hazards, so an offensive Rapid Spin user such as Staryu or Drilbur makes a good teammate. Knock Off users such as Pawniard, Tirtouga, Mienfoo, and Timburr remove important walls' items so that Teddiursa can break through them more easily. Trubbish checks Fighting-type threats, particularly Timburr, and can lay Spikes quite easily, while a late-game sweeper such as Life Orb Abra can finish off weakened teams or punch holes in things for Teddiursa to finish off. Slow pivots such as Vullaby and Chinchou can provide a safe switch for Teddiursa.

With Quick Feet, high Attack, and access to Swords Dance, Teddiursa is a formidable sweeper. When poisoned, Teddiursa reaches an amazing 21 Speed, which is faster than every non-boosted Pokemon in the tier; that Speed, combined with an outstanding 18 Attack, strikes fear into many Pokemon. Protect is an alternative for Teddiursa, to ensure Toxic Orb activates, while also defending itself from random Fake Outs; however, it is generally outclassed by Swords Dance, which allows Teddiursa to sweep unprepared teams. Facade is the perfect STAB attack for Teddiursa--it has 210 Base Power after STAB--allowing it to completely destroy everything that doesn't resist it. Close Combat and Crunch both give great coverage, collectively hitting Rock-, Steel-, and Ghost-types for super effective damage. Teddiursa is also a great status absorber after Toxic Orb has been activated, and can easily capitalize on the many Pokemon who use status moves, such as Ferroseed and Shroomish. Thanks to its frailty, however, it might have some difficulty setting up, but Teddiursa can set up on a variety of special attackers such as Eviolite Misdreavus, Staryu, Porygon, and Lileep. The given EVs and nature are used to give Teddiursa 14 Speed, as much Attack as possible, and maximum special bulk; physical bulk is not invested in, as physical attacks are often too powerful for Teddiursa to take. Entry hazard support is generally not needed on any Teddiursa running Swords Dance, but if it runs Protect, the extra damage from Stealth Rock and Spikes are imperative for Teddiursa's success. Good teammates to Teddiursa include Pokemon who can take priority attacks or hits from Choice Scarf users; Pokemon such as Porygon, Bronzor, Ferroseed, Shelmet, Chinchou, Lileep, and Misdreavus are all marvelous at taking hits and supporting Teddiursa in some way. Both Wynaut and Misdreavus are both incredibly useful, as they can take hits from Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Timburr, both of whom are large threats to Teddiursa.

Quick Feet is an awesome ability, and Teddiursa can take advantage of it to become a very effective transitioning mid-game revenge killer / late-game sweeper. Facade is a given on any status abuser, packing insane power after all the boosts are factored in. Close Combat destroys Rock- and Steel-types that resist Facade, while Crunch gets the Ghost-types who are immune to it. With perfect coverage from these three moves, Teddiursa has room in his last slot for a set-up move. While Protect is the safer option, allowing Teddiursa to activate his status orb in complete safety, Swords Dance is worth a look; despite being the "riskier" choice, if it is pulled off successfully, Teddiursa will have enough power to OHKO even the bulkiest of Gligar with Facade, and that's saying something. Attack and Speed are maximized as per the traditional sweeper spread, with one extra point added to each defensive stat with the remaining EVs. A Jolly nature is required for Teddiursa to reach the magic 14 Speed stat, allowing it to outpace every unboosted Pokemon in the metagame after its status orb activates, which is, of course, very important. An excellent partner for Teddiursa is Gligar, whose wonderful bulk allows it to absorb stray Mach Punches and Vacuum Waves, as well as set up Stealth Rock, with ease. Gligar can also pass Teddiursa stat boosts that would even further facilitate his sweep. Slowpoke is another good teammate, with its ability to paralyze faster Choice Scarf users with Thunder Wave. Finally, Wynaut can also be useful in taking out Choice Scarf users with its extremely specialized movepool and ability.
