Análisis

Set Details U-turn allows Whimsicott to pivot out on Fairy-resistant Pokemon such as Klefki, Chandelure, and Copperajah, letting it bring in teammates such as Infernape, Incineroar, and Paldean Tauros-W. Encore is the defining characteristic of this set, allowing Whimsicott to disrupt opposing setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Scream Tail, Nasty Plot Uxie, Shell Smash Drednaw, and Tidy Up Cinccino. Giga Drain can enable Whimsicott to greatly damage the likes of Rhyperior and Swampert while also providing recovery and the ability to chip Vaporeon. On the other hand, Stun Spore can be used to paralyze faster foes like Munkidori, Infernape, and Choice Scarf users such as Flamigo and Flygon. However, Memento can be used on offensive teams to safely bring in a threat such as Flamigo or Munkidori or create opportunities for a setup sweeper like Swords Dance Scyther, Nasty Plot Munkidori, or Dudunsparce. Heavy-Duty Boots is the preferred item, as it allows Whimsicott to avoid taking entry hazard damage. Alternatively, Rocky Helmet allows Whimsicott to punish U-turn from Munkidori and Flygon as well as Flip Turn from Vaporeon. Additionally, it means that Whimsicott does not need to attack foes like Paldean Tauros-W and Heracross to damage them. The listed EV spread allows Whimsicott to outspeed non-Choice Scarf Chandelure. However, other benchmarks can be reached with different EV spreads: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spe and a Timid nature lets Whimsicott outpace non-Choice Scarf Flamigo and Heracross while optimizing bulk, and 248 HP / 132 Def / 128 Spe and a Timid nature allows Whimsicott to outspeed Flygon and Paldean Tauros-W. Tera Steel gives Whimsicott a resistance to Steel and an immunity to Poison, which is handy against Duraludon, Munkidori, Amoonguss, and Overqwil. However, it removes Whimsicott's Fighting and Ground resistance while maintaining its Fire weakness. Tera Water gives Whimsicott a resistance to Fire while keeping its Water resistance, which is handy against the likes of Chandelure, Incineroar, and Vaporeon. On the other hand, Tera Fire gives Whimsicott both a Fire resistance and a Steel resistance, which is handy to deal with Incineroar and Copperajah. However, Tera Fire gives Whimsicott a weakness to Stealth Rock and removes its Water resistance, which makes it worse against Vaporeon, Basculegion-M, and Paldean Tauros-W. Whimsicott best fits on balance or offense teams as a blanket check to setup sweepers and Fighting-types. Fire-types such as Incineroar and Chandelure appreciate Whimsicott bringing them in against Steel- and Poison-types such as Bronzong, Copperajah, and Galarian Slowbro. In return, Whimsicott can check the likes of Vaporeon, Rhyperior, Flygon, and Swampert for them. Water-types such as Vaporeon and Swampert check Fire-types like Incineroar and Chandelure, which Whimsicott struggles with. Pokemon such as Dudunsparce and Flygon appreciate Whimsicott checking the likes of Paldean Tauros-W and Scrafty for them. Setup sweepers such as Shell Smash Drednaw, Swords Dance Scyther, and Nasty Plot Munkidori greatly enjoy the setup opportunities that Whimsicott creates with Memento. Slower Pokemon such as Uxie, Chandelure, and Basculegion-M appreciate Whimsicott's ability to spread paralysis, as they are able to outspeed threats such as Scyther, Munkidori, and Choice Scarf Flamigo. Entry hazard setters such as Klefki, Swampert, and Bronzong, as well as Knock Off users like Tsareena, Gligar, and Wo-Chien, can help wear down Whimsicott's checks such as Incineroar and Chandelure by removing their Heavy-Duty Boots and forcing them to take repeated hazard damage, making it easier for Whimsicott and its Fire-type teammates to make progress over time.
