Meteor Beam Nihilego can break down Water, Ground, and Fairy teams easily by beating foes like Barraskewda, Gastrodon, and Tapu Bulu. It can also run Sticky Barb to wear down foes like Corviknight and Landorus-T, allowing Terrakion to have an easier time sweeping Flying teams. In return, Terrakion is able to devastate Steel and Dark teams for Nihilego. Tyranitar's sand lets Terrakion switch into attacks significantly more easily, and it stops Swift Swim users like Barraskewda and Kingdra from outspeeding Terrakion. Furthermore, Tyranitar deals with foes like Choice Scarf Latias and Slowbro that give Terrakion trouble. Barbaracle is a good teammate for Terrakion, as it can deal with Sand Rush Excadrill and Weavile after Shell Smash. Rhyperior is a decent, teammate, as it not only provides an immunity to Electric, but it can also gang up on Steel-type cores with Terrakion, like those with Heatran and Aegislash.

On Fighting teams, Terrakion acts as a very effective revenge killer that checks threats like Thundurus-T and Cinderace with its great Speed tier and STAB coverage. Stone Edge is Terrakion's main STAB move and hits Flying-type Pokemon like Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, and Tornadus-T super effectively. Close Combat is its strongest move against neutral targets like Rotom-W and common Rock-resistant foes like Excadrill and Bisharp. Earthquake, Megahorn, and Iron Head can each add super effective coverage. They nail Pokemon like Tapu Koko and Nidoking, Mew and Latios, and Tapu Lele and Mimikyu, respectively. Nidoking notably resists both Stone Edge and Close Combat. Due to its unique offensive typing, Terrakion checks many dangerous Flying-types for Fighting teams such as Tornadus-T and Zapdos. Buzzwole and Heracross both pair well with Terrakion offensively, as they can wear down Psychic-types like Slowbro and Jirachi for it. Cobalion provides Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave support, which greatly helps Terrakion's cleaning. Its Steel typing also makes it a decent check to some Fairy-type Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Hatterene. Galarian Zapdos is another good revenge killer, and it switches in on Earthquakes from Pokemon like Excadrill for Terrakion to KO them or weaken a switch-in with Thunderous Kick. Keldeo appreciates Terrakion checking threats that outspeed it, in return breaking open the walls like Celesteela, Corviknight, Galarian Weezing, and SubToxic Aegislash that Terrakion and its peers struggle to break through. Toxicroak assists Terrakion by threatening Fairy-types like Clefable, Tapu Bulu, and Azumarill and switching into powerful Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Barraskewda and Urshifu-R thanks to Dry Skin. It also has the unique niche of absorbing Toxic Spikes from Toxapex, as well as safely switching into it with no risk of suffering a Scald burn or Toxic poison.

Choice Band Terrakion is a devastating wallbreaker. Accelerock provides valuable revenge killing against the likes of Gyarados, Cinderace, and Aerodactyl. Earthquake hits Pokemon like Toxapex, Galarian Slowking, and Gengar harder than Diamond Storm does. Terrakion appreciates pivots like Slowking and Seismitoad that can bring it in safely. Clefable and Melmetal appreciate how well Terrakion pressures Steel-types. Clefable checks physically defensive Buzzwole, while Melmetal can wear down Terrakion checks like Mudsdale with Toxic, making it even more difficult to switch into. Future Sight and Doom Desire support from Slowking and Heatran compound this difficulty, dissuading switch-ins like Toxapex and Clefable, respectively. Late-game cleaners like Aerodactyl, No Retreat Urshifu-R, and Weavile are also solid partners, taking advantage of how well Terrakion breaks through opposing walls.

Terrakion is one of the most threatening physical wallbreakers in AAA and is capable of battering through many defensive cores on its own. Dauntless Shield Mew is one of the most reliable answers as it is never 2HKOed by any of Terrakion's common moves without a critical hit, but even Dauntless Shield Corviknight fails to check Terrakion reliably as Stealth Rock damage is enough to let it get 2HKOed by Close Combat. Terrakion's base 108 Speed is enough to outpace all common defensive Pokemon and a number of common breakers, including Zapdos and Garchomp, giving it plenty of Pokemon to force out if brought in via a slow pivot or after a KO. While Terrakion will almost always be using its STAB moves, Earthquake is a 100% accurate option to hit Toxapex and Doublade without getting PP stalled, Megahorn lets Terrakion 2HKO Dauntless Shield Mew and Slowbro after Stealth Rock, and Toxic is a nice option to cripple walls that Terrakion cannot 2HKO like Dauntless Shield Mew and Hippowdon. Stealth Rock is also an option to let Terrakion get entry hazards up on a predicted switch if the opponent has a reliable answer to it. Terrakion runs maximum Speed and Attack investment with a Jolly nature to take advantage of its Speed tier and maximize the number of Pokemon it beats one-on-one. Terrakion fits well on bulky offense teams that can provide it with many opportunities to switch in and fire off strong attacks. While almost nothing can safely switch into Terrakion, it is also true that Terrakion does not want to switch in on many Pokemon either. Therefore, slow pivots like Corviknight, Swampert, and Blissey provide the safe switch in that Terrakion needs and make excellent teammates. Defensive pivots also make good teammates as Terrakion is often forced out after it gets a KO due to its mediocre bulk and only slightly above-average Speed. Good offensive teammates include fast physical attackers that like to take advantage of the weakened or broken defensive cores that Terrakion creates such as Barraskewda and Zarude. Other good offensive teammates include Azelf and Tapu Koko, as they can draw out and pivot on RegenVest Pokemon and Blissey that Terrakion can beat easily; Azelf can also set up Psychic Terrain to protect Terrakion from Triage. Lastly, Terrakion appreciates entry hazard support, as many of its checks can only check it from high health, and hazards help whittle them down until they can no longer switch in.

Moves Close Combat is Terrakion's strongest and most accurate STAB move, dealing a great amount of damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Stone Edge complements Close Combat by hitting Pokemon that resist Fighting-type attacks, such as Latias and Sylveon, hard. Earthquake allows Terrakion to hit Doublade, which would otherwise be able to completely wall it. It can also be used to revenge kill Pokemon like Nidoking and Tentacruel, which usually avoid the OHKO from any of Terrakion's other moves. Toxic allows Terrakion to cripple non-Rest Mega Slowbro, Hippowdon, and Alomomola which can stomach a hit and retaliate with their STAB coverage or status. Quick Attack could also be used in the last slot to pick off weakened faster threats such as Latias and a Speed boosted Mega Sharpedo. However, it's important to note that Quick Attack should only be used if it can absolutely revenge kill the foe, as it's a very weak move. Rock Slide can be used over Toxic as a more reliable Rock-type STAB move that guarantee OHKOes Moltres and Rotom-H, however, it is much weaker than Stone Edge and shouldn't be used in any other situations, as it misses out on the OHKO or 2HKO on a lot of Pokemon, such as Primarina and Starmie. Set Details Maximum Attack investment coupled with a Choice Band allows Terrakion to be as strong as it can be with a neutral nature, making it extremely difficult to switch into. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature provide Terrakion with the ability to outspeed Pokemon like Nihilego, Hydreigon, and Celebi and Speed tie with Cobalion and non-Choice Scarf Infernape. Justified is the only available ability for Terrakion. However, it can give Terrakion an Attack boost whenever it is hit by a Dark-type attack, like Hydreigon's Choice-locked Dark Pulse or Mega Houndoom's Dark Pulse. Usage Tips While using Terrakion, it's advised to make predictions often, as the opponent can take advantage of the fact that Terrakion has to be locked into a move whenever it fires off an attack. For instance, if the opponent is predicted to switch into a Pokemon that resists Close Combat, such as Latias, then Stone Edge should be used, and vice versa. Making a bad prediction may cause a loss of momentum and give the opponent an advantage, so Terrakion should be used carefully. Additionally, Terrakion should not switch into attacks directly, as its typing is very poor defensively. Instead, it should be brought in via double switches, via pivots, or when a Pokemon has fainted. Even with Justified, it shouldn't switch into Dark-type moves most of the time, as most Dark-type Pokemon can still threaten Terrakion with their other moves; Terrakion should be especially wary of Knock Off users, which cause it to lose its Choice Band. It should only switch in on attacks like a Choice-locked Hydreigon's Dark Pulse. Earthquake should be used on a predicted switch to Doublade, while Toxic should be used to cripple bulky Pokemon that try to switch into Terrakion, specifically Mega Slowbro, as they can avoid being 2HKOed by any of its moves. Toxic also alleviates the need to correctly predict what move Terrakion needs to lock itself into to break these bulkier foes. Use Quick Attack to pick off a weakened target that usually outspeeds Terrakion, such as a weakened Latias or Choice Scarf Hydreigon that can otherwise revenge kill it easily after taking prior damage. Team Options Terrakion is best used on offensive teams that appreciate its ability to break through walls and weaken foes. Terrakion has a very hard time switching in due to its poor defensive typing, so it pairs well with U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Scizor and Mega Manectric that can bring it in safely. Cleaners such as Mega Sharpedo and Swords Dance Scizor make good teammates, as they can take advantage of Terrakion's ability to weaken the opposing team. Entry hazard setters such as Hippowdon, Krookodile, and Klefki also pair well with Terrakion, as it can force a lot of switches and hazards may also secure OHKOs or 2HKOs on certain Pokemon, such as Latias and Slowbro. Klefki in particular is a great partner for Terrakion due to its ability to cripple faster Pokemon like Latias and Mega Aerodactyl with Thunder Wave. Grass-types such as Celebi and Tsareena also make good partners, as they can check most bulky Ground- and Water-types that threaten Terrakion, such as Hippowdon and Alomomola. Terrakion appreciates being paired with Pokemon that can check Psychic-types like Slowbro and Latias, as they can threaten it a lot. Examples of such Pokemon include Empoleon, Choice Scarf Hydreigon, and Mega Aggron. Pursuit trappers such as Choice Band Scizor and Choice Scarf Krookodile make great partners as they are able to trap and remove the likes of Latias for Terrakion. Ground-immune Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Togekiss also make good partners, as they can switch into Ground-types like Hippowdon and Choice Scarf Krookodile that usually threaten Terrakion. Pokemon like Moltres, Tentacruel, and Rotom-H also pair well with Terrakion because they're able to sponge the priority moves aimed at it such as Scizor's Bullet Punch and Infernape's Vacuum Wave. Rotom-H is a especially good partner, as it can also bring Terrakion in with Volt Switch. Magneton, although situational, can be a very useful partner, as it can bring Terrakion in with Volt Switch, check Fairy-types, and most importantly, trap and remove Pokemon like Scizor, which can threaten Terrakion a lot.

Moves Swords Dance boosts Terrakion's Attack by two stages, allowing it to break through bulkier teams with ease. Stone Edge is Terrakion's strongest Rock-type STAB attack, and in combination with Rockium Z, it can turn into a very powerful Continental Crush, which can KO Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Gligar after some prior damage. Close Combat is a stronger and more reliable STAB move that hits Pokemon that resist Stone Edge like Quagsire hard. It can also OHKO Pokemon like Hippowdon and Swampert if used in combination with Fightinium Z to turn into a very strong All-Out Pummeling. Earthquake allows Terrakion to OHKO Pokemon like Volcanion and Chandelure without having to risk missing Stone Edge and KO Doublade at +2 after some some prior damage. Stealth Rock is a viable option in the last moveslot if no other Pokemon on the team can afford to use it. Protect can also be used to scout for moves and Choice-locked Pokemon, such as Choice Band Scizor and Choice Scarf Hydreigon. Set Details Maximum Attack allows Terrakion to hit as hard as it can without a boosting nature. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Terrakion outspeed Pokemon like Nihilego and non-Choice Scarf Hydreigon and Speed tie with Pokemon like Cobalion. Rockium Z turns Stone Edge into a powerful Continental crush, which allows Terrakion to break through some of its checks such as Mega Slowbro after some prior damage. Fightinium Z is an alternative for a Z-Move, as it allows Terrakion to OHKO Pokemon that resist Stone Edge like Quagsire and Hippowdon with +2 All-Out Pummeling. Life Orb is a decent option, allowing it to pressure bulkier teams far more easily by 2HKOing Pokemon like Quagsire with Close Combat and OHKOing Pokemon like Latias and Celebi with Stone Edge after a Swords Dance; however, Terrakion struggles with longevity even without the recoil from Life Orb, so this could prove problematic for it. Babiri Berry could be chosen in order to take a Bullet Punch from Scizor while sacrificing the power from a Z-Move, allowing Terrakion to break through teams or sweep more easily. Justified is Terrakion's only available ability, allowing it to get an Attack boost whenever it is hit by a Dark-type attack. Additionally, if holding a Z-Move, it also allows Terrakion to act as a Knock Off absorber from Pokemon like Alolan Muk and Choice-locked Krookodile. Usage Tips Early-game, Terrakion should focus on attacking instead of setting up with Swords Dance so it can whittle down the opposing team. Setting up with Terrakion before Pokemon with access to priority moves like Scizor or that usually hold a Choice Scarf like Krookodile are removed is not advised, as Terrakion will most likely not be able to sweep. However, against bulkier teams that lack the ability to easily revenge kill Terrakion you should prioritise setting up on Pokemon it can force out like Blissey. Terrakion should be brought in via double switches, via pivoting, or if a Pokemon has fainted, as it has a poor defensive typing and cannot afford to switch in directly to most Pokemon. However, if holding a Z-Move, as it can't lose its item, Terrakion can be used to switch into a predicted Knock Off to get an Attack boost from Justified. Both Continental Crush and All-Out Pummeling should be used carefully, as they can only be used once and are necessary for Terrakion to be able to break through Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Gligar, and Hippowdon. Using them against the wrong Pokemon can be very costly. If running Stealth Rock in the last slot it should attempt to set them up early-game with all the switches it can force and ability to overwhelm common entry hazard removers in Gligar and Tentacruel after a Swords Dance. If Terrakion lacks Earthquake and is against a foe like Doublade it is best to double switch in order to gain momentum, especially if Stealth Rock has already been set up. Finally, once the Pokemon that can threaten Terrakion are removed, it should try to find opportunities to set up by making predictions and double switches in order to break through and potentially sweep the opposing team. Team Options Terrakion fits best on offensive teams that appreciate its ability to break through bulkier builds. Due to its bad defensive typing, Terrakion has a very hard time directly switching in and thus pairs well with U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Scizor and Mega Manectric that can bring it in safely. Entry hazard setters such as Mega Aggron, Krookodile, and Klefki make good teammates for Terrakion, as hazards can secure OHKOs on certain Pokemon, such as Mega Slowbro and Hippowdon. Pokemon like Moltres and Tentacruel are able to tank most priority moves aimed at Terrakion, such as Scizor's Bullet Punch and Infernape's Vacuum Wave. Entry hazard removers like Volcanion and the aforementioned Moltres and Tentacruel make great partners, as they can prevent Terrakion being worn down and can pressure bulky Ground-types for Terrakion. Pursuit users such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and Choice Band Scizor are able to trap threatening Pokemon for Terrakion like Latias and Starmie. Ground-immune Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Togekiss make good partners, since they're able to easily switch into Pokemon like Hippowdon and Choice Scarf Krookodile, which can usually threaten Terrakion. Grass-types like Celebi and Tsareena also pair well with it for the same reason. Choice Scarf Latias has good synergy with Terrakion, as it can check faster Pokemon that usually threaten Terrakion such as Choice Scarf Infernape, and it has access to Healing Wish, which can heal Terrakion back up after it has weakened the opposing team. In return, Terrakion can take advantage of Pokemon that lock themselves into Dark-type moves such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and Choice Band Scizor and try to set up. Pokemon like Doublade and Gengar can also force the same situation and thus pair well with Terrakion. Magneton pairs very well with Terrakion, as it can check Fairy-types such as Sylveon, bring Terrakion in safely via Volt Switch, and most importantly, trap and remove Scizor, which can prevent Terrakion from sweeping with Bullet Punch.

Moves Stone Edge is able to turn into Continental Crush for high damage output, which allows Terrakion to beat mainly both Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Gardevoir, offensive Genesect, Togekiss, and Victini. Taunt is used to block many setup or stall Pokemon, such as Stored Power Necrozma, Aron, and Riolu, from using their boosting moves right away. Close Combat is used to cover Normal-, Dark-, Rock-, and Steel-types that are neutral against or resist Stone Edge, such as Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Mega Tyranitar, and non-Choice Scarf Excadrill. Swords Dance allows Terrakion to beat Tapunium Z Tapu Fini. Alternatively, Rock Tomb has its niche in slowing down and beating Choice Scarf Dragonite, stall Deoxys-S, and Earthquake Crustle. Substitute can be used over Swords Dance or Taunt, though it's only a niche pick to beat Slaking or force Pokemon like Mega Blaziken into mind games. Set Details 252 Attack EVs allow Terrakion to OHKO Tapu Lele and bulky Choice Specs Genesect most of the time. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Terrakion outspeed maximum base 100 Speed Pokemon and above such as Blacephalon, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Gardevoir, as well as outspeeding and KOing Modest Naganadel. 4 EVs are added to Special Defense for a better matchup against Choice Scarf non-Flash Cannon Genesect, as it will get a Download boost in Attack instead of Special Attack. Rockium Z combined with Stone Edge gives Terrakion a high damage output to beat common metagame threats such as Mega Charizard X and Y, non-bulky Tapu Lele, and Genesect. A bulkier EV spread of 16 HP / 244 Atk / 48 SpD / 200 Spe still allows Terrakion to outspeed base 100s and Landorus while being able to take a hit from and OHKO Choice Scarf offensive Genesect, but bulky Genesect is the more common set. Steel-types such as Magearna, Magnezone, Celesteela, Ferrothorn, and Magneton are able to beat the common Fairy-types that Terrakion loses to such as Magearna, Clefable, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Mawile. In return, Terrakion can cover the Fire-types that most of these Steel-types may lose to, such as Mega Charizard X and Y, Heatran, and Victini. Fairy- and Psychic-types such as Mega Mawile, Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Hoopa-U can cover the Fighting-types like Mega Blaziken, Kommo-o, and Mega Lopunny that resist Continental Crush and, in most cases, can also take Terrakion's attacks or outspeed and KO it. In return, Terrakion can beat some of the Steel-types that Fairy- and Psychic-types lose to most of the time, such as Heatran, Genesect, and Registeel.

Justified is its only ability, increasing its Attack whenever it's hit by a Dark-type move. Usage Tips This set is rather reliant on support from Shuckle's Sticky Web as a means of outspeeding Choice Scarf users like Excadrill and opposing Terrakion. Due to Terrakion's average bulk, it's a good idea to bring it in after a teammate has fainted. Try bluffing Choice Scarf against threats like Mega Diancie and +1 Mega Charizard X in order to force them out. In matchups like Steel, it is important to make smart predictions with Terrakion in order to consistently gain momentum. For example, you may need to predict a Mega Scizor to switch out against a check like Rhyperior to safely bring in Terrakion to threaten whatever switches in. Avoid status as much as possible, especially burn and paralysis, since they can halve Terrakion's Attack and Speed. Likewise, make sure to keep it away from attacking moves that cause these status conditions, like Scald and Discharge. Try weakening priority users like Azumarill and Breloom before revenge killing them with Terrakion's Quick Attack. Don't be afraid of spamming Terrakion's powerful STAB attacks against certain defensive cores on types like Normal and Steel. Team Options Shuckle can set up Sticky Web to let Terrakion outspeed threats such as Mega Lopunny and Choice Scarf Excadrill. It can also use Encore on more passive Pokemon to allow Terrakion to safely switch in. Mega Diancie can bounce back status moves for Terrakion while also being able to check physically defensive Pokemon like Mega Sableye and Mega Slowbro. It can also bounce back troublesome entry hazards like Sticky Web and Toxic Spikes. In return, Terrakion is able to break through Chansey and Porygon2. Tyranitar can switch into and beat Psychic-types like Latios and Mega Latias for Terrakion. Substitute can be used as an alternative to punish the switches that Terrakion tends to force, enabling it to either safely spam its STAB moves or use Swords Dance by protecting it from status and some phazing moves such as Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, and Dragon Tail alongside other miscellaneous abilities such as Intimidate. Stealth Rock can be considered as an option, as Terrakion's capability in forcing out common Sablenite defensive walls such as Blissey and Magearna means it can usually keep up hazards on the opposing side of the field reliably, and it can usually capitalize on the momentum it gains when setting up the entry hazard. Set Details Lucarionite boosts Terrakion's Attack and Speed and also grants it the ability Adaptability upon Mega Evolution, transforming it into one of the most threatening wallbreakers in the metagame as a result. Its EVs are fully invested in Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature in order to maximize Terrakion's wallbreaking capabilities, letting it deal the most amount of damage and outspeed as many threats as possible, such as Arceus and Landorus-T. Justified provides little utility before Mega Evolution, as Dark-type moves are rather uncommon in the metagame, and Terrakion's rather low defenses disables it from coming in against most threats that could carry these type of moves anyway. Usage Tips Try to Mega Evolve Terrakion as soon as possible, as letting it wallbreak early on in the game can help its teammates break through opposing walls much more easily. Terrakion's meager defenses mean it cannot really come in against most offensive threats, so Terrakion should usually be coming in on the battlefield through pivoting from its teammates or potential aggressive double switching. It should also take caution in staying in against threats that commonly run priority moves such as Zygarde and Entei, as they can threaten to revenge kill Terrakion if it is even slightly chipped. Terrakion should be using utility moves early on in the game, as its ability to force in walls can enables it to punish threats such as Mew, Gliscor, and support Arceus formes, as they come into moves such as Swords Dance and Substitute. Even when facing a threat that may completely wall Terrakion, such as Arceus-Fairy or Mew, Terrakion should be utilizing Taunt to cripple the aforementioned threats as they attempt to recover their health. Once they have been appropriately weakened, Terrakion may proceed to spam its STAB attacks more reliably as a result. Team Options Pokemon that can break through Terrakion's checks, such as Altarianite Zygarde and Entei are much appreciated, as they can help check opposing offensive threats while Terrakion can help break through walls such as support Arceus formes and Mew in return. Other offensive threats that appreciate Terrakion's ability in breaking down specially defensive walls such as Blissey, Magearna, and Toxapex make excellent teammates for Terrakion, and these threats can help break through physically defensive threats in return. Good examples include Pokemon like Lunala, Raikou, Tapu Lele, and Shaymin-S. Pokemon that can provide slow pivoting such as Magearna and Gliscor also work great in conjunction with Terrakion, as they can safely bring in Terrakion, providing it with many more opportunities to wallbreak successfully. Defensive pivots such as Toxapex, Ho-Oh, Mew, and Arceus-Fairy can help check the threats that Terrakion may be unable to reliably break through without prior chip damage, such as Primal Groudon and Buzzwole, in addition to common -ate ability Extreme Speed users such as Zygarde and Entei that threaten to revenge kill Terrakion. Mew and Arceus-Fairy also provide the added benefit of setting up Stealth Rock, enabling Terrakion to break through its checks more easily and free up a potential moveslot for other utility options.

Moves Close Combat, as a STAB attack with a high Base Power, breaks through Dark-, Normal-, and Steel-types or simply anything that doesn't resist Fighting, just at the cost of lowering Terrakion's defensive stats, which Terrakion doesn't need to worry about too much. Stone Edge is a secondary STAB move that rounds out Terrakion's coverage by hitting the Pokemon that Close Combat misses out on, such as Poison-, Flying-, Fairy-, and Ghost-types. This power comes with some risk, as Stone Edge has unreliable accuracy. Because Terrakion already has great coverage between its two main STAB moves, the final two moveslots are very flexible. Although Earthquake generally has redundant coverage alongside Close Combat, it fits on this set because it hits Doublade, Nidoking, and Golurk, which wall Terrakion otherwise and pose a threat to Rock as a whole, and it has reliable accuracy, good power, and no drawbacks. X-Scissor allows Terrakion to OHKO Celebi and 2HKO Slowbro after Stealth Rock. Iron Head hits Clefable, Sylveon, Mega Gardevoir, and other Fairy-types more reliably than Stone Edge with a nifty chance to flinch. Rock Slide can be used as a more reliable Rock STAB move with a respectable accuracy that KOes weakened foes with a useful chance to flinch, which may make a difference when wearing down sturdier physical walls. Set Details Choice Band raises Terrakion's Attack to dangerous levels so it needs much less support to defeat physical walls, 2HKOing Skarmory with Close Combat. The given EV spread maximizes Attack and Speed and helps Terrakion hit as hard and fast as possible, which is Terrakion's main function. A Jolly nature is used to maximize Terrakion's Speed and allows it to Speed tie with other base 108 Speed Pokemon such as Cobalion, Infernape, and Galvantula. Justified is Terrakion's only ability, but it provides a useful Attack boost in a few situations. Usage Tips This set operates with high risk and high reward; wise positioning of Terrakion throughout the game through proper double switches and free switches will allow it to find more opportunities to chip away at physical walls or earn valuable KOs by using its teammates to eliminate its checks and counters. Terrakion has decent bulk, but be careful when hard switching Terrakion into battle, as it has weaknesses to common attacking types and can't take powerful neutral attacks. Prevent Terrakion from locking itself into moves that allow the opponent to set up. Team Options Sticky Web Shuckle helps patch up Terrakion's slight Speed issue, allowing it to outspeed and OHKO Mega Lopunny, and prevents several Choice Scarf Pokemon from easily revenge killing Terrakion,like Togekiss and Gardevoir. Mega Diancie helps protect Terrakion from status by bouncing back Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave with Magic Bounce and removes Sableye and Fighting-types. Pursuit Tyranitar traps Psychic- and Ghost-types in order to allow Terrakion to spam Close Combat more easily. Shell Smash Omastar takes advantage of Ground-types and physical walls that Terrakion struggles with, like Skarmory, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon. Cradily also beats many Ground-types and deals with bulky Water-types that Terrakion struggles with thanks to Storm Drain. Rhyperior can help check physical Steel-, Ground-, and Fighting-types like Mega Scizor while also absorbing Thunder Wave. RestTalk Mega Aggron is another great status absorber and checks the Fairy-, Grass-, and Steel-types that Terrakion hates. Mega Aerodactyl handles the bulky Grass-types that Terrakion doesn't like taking on and can also provide Tailwind support while appreciating Terrakion's ability to remove bulky Steel-, Normal-, and Rock-types.

Moves Stone Edge is a useful STAB attack that lets Terrakion nail the Flying-types that Fighting Monotype dreads, but its infamously poor accuracy makes it difficult to rely on. Close Combat is another STAB attack but one with higher accuracy and power that also complements Stone Edge's coverage. It also has the side effect of lowering Terrakion's defenses, however. Iron Head hits Fairy-types like Mega Diancie, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, and Clefable harder than Stone Edge, which can be difficult to revenge kill otherwise. The final moveslot can be altered to whichever you prefer, as Terrakion only needs Stone Edge, Close Combat, and Iron Head to perform well. Earthquake generally offers redundant coverage with Fighting STAB, as they both hit Rock- and Steel-types, but it does hit Doublade for decent damage. Relying on Stone Edge's accuracy to check certain threats can be detrimental in some cases, so Rock Slide could be used alongside it, as its improved accuracy and chance to flinch allow it to be effective against Pokemon that are weakened or easy for Terrakion to OHKO, making it more useful late-game. Set Details Choice Scarf helps Terrakion keep many setup sweepers in check, boosting its Speed to a fantastic level. Outspeeding Tornadus-T, Mega Diancie, Mega Pinsir under Sticky Web, and many more, this offensive support tremendously helps out Fighting Monotype teams. Terrakion also has higher Speed than many other Choice Scarf Pokemon, such as Togekiss and Victini. A Jolly nature is used to outspeed base 100 Speed Choice Scarf Pokemon and below, most notably Hydreigon and Kyurem-B. Justified has the potential to provide a useful Attack boost, but it is very situational, so it shouldn't be relied upon. The EV spread maximizes Attack and Speed, as Terrakion doesn't have any viable reason to invest in other stats. Usage Tips Terrakion is best utilized late-game, when its checks have been weakened. Playing offensively early-game through double switches and utilizing Terrakion's teammates make it easier to reach the point where Terrakion can clean more easily. Terrakion also takes full advantage of free switches after a teammate faints, as it revenge kills several targets effectively. If Terrakion is needed to check dangerous sweepers like Mega Pinsir, keep it healthy until then, as, in Mega Pinsir's case, falling into +2 Quick Attack's KO range is devastating. For dangerous fast setup sweepers, it is important to safely send Terrakion in before they become faster than Terrakion with moves like Quiver Dance or Dragon Dance. Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Giga Drain Volcarona beat Terrakion at +2. Avoiding status is important for Terrakion, as burns halve its Attack, paralysis quarters its Speed, and Toxic wears it down quickly. Team Options Breloom and Mega Heracross are good offensive Pokemon to pair up with Terrakion. They keep Ground- and Water-types in check while improving the team's matchup against opposing weather teams that utilize faster sweepers like Mega Swampert and Sand Rush Excadrill. Mega Gallade helps pave the way for Terrakion's sweep by weakening Terrakion's checks through the sheer power provided by Swords Dance, by using Knock Off to weaken Psychic-types as well as Doublade, and by removing bulky Poison-types like Mega Venusaur with its Psychic-type STAB moves. Conkeldurr absorbs status for Terrakion and helps remove Doublade and other Ghost-types with Knock Off. Both Cobalion and Infernape can set up Stealth Rock, which is integral for Terrakion's sweep. Infernape can also remove Skarmory and Doublade with its Fire STAB attacks. Hawlucha possesses a handy Fighting resistance and Ground immunity, and it works well late-game with Terrakion because they both weaken each other's checks decently well. Lastly, Guts Heracross can eliminate bulky Psychic-types like Slowbro and Mew that Terrakion can't break past while also absorbing status.

Moves Swords Dance lets Terrakion boost its Attack so that it can hit harder in the time span that it is on the field; it also lets Terrakion KO a larger field of foes. Stealth Rock can be used so that Terrakion can make it easier for it and its teammates to KO foes. Terrakion has the offensive presence to force switches, which makes it easier to set up either Swords Dance or Stealth Rock. Diamond Storm is the preferred Rock-type STAB move, as it is more accurate than both Rock Slide and Stone Edge and is stronger than Rock Slide, and it lets Terrakion KO common threats in the STABmons metagame such as Thundurus, Mega Charizard Y, Tornadus-T, Gyarados, and Weavile. Close Combat is used to KO possible threats to your team such as Heatran, Chansey, Magnezone, and opposing Terrakion. High Jump Kick can be used instead of Close Combat if you want a more powerful move on Terrakion that doesn't lower its defenses; however, it is less accurate and gives Terrakion trouble when facing Steel-types with the possibility of carrying King's Shield, which will make High Jump Kick miss and make Terrakion lose half of its health. Mach Punch lets Terrakion revenge kill weakened foes. Set Details The Attack and Speed EVs are maximized to increase Terrakion's power and speed as much as possible. A Jolly nature is used to further increase Terrakion's Speed so that it can Speed tie with opposing Terrakion and outspeed unboosted Tyranitar. Life Orb boosts Terrakion's attacks to make up for the power drop from using a Jolly nature instead of an Adamant one. Justified is the only ability that Terrakion has access to, and it boosts its Attack when it is hit with a Dark-type move. Usage Tips When Terrakion is on the field, use the appropriate move to KO or damage the foe as much as possible. If the foe resists or is immune to one of Terrakion's moves or outspeeds and can possibly KO Terrakion, switch into a different Pokemon that checks or counters it. Use Terrakion to force out frail attackers like Thundurus and Weavile after a teammate is KOed and set up Swords Dance on the predicted switch. Make sure to switch Terrakion out of priority users and status inducers, as they both severely hinder its ability to be a useful attacker. If you're using Close Combat, be aware that it makes Terrakion more vulnerable to both physical and special attacks due to the drops in its defenses, which makes it more vulnerable to priority too. If you're running High Jump Kick, be aware that it has a chance to miss, and Terrakion will lose half of its health whenever the move misses or if it is used when the foe uses a protecting move. Try to predict when a foe uses a protecting move just to be safe. Team Options Terrakion fits best on hyper offense teams because of its offensive presence, and it also partners well with sand setters such as Tyranitar and Hippowdon because of its Rock typing, as sand boosts its Special Defense, Tyranitar's secondary Dark typing gives it a helpful immunity to Psychic, and Hippowdon's bulk gives Terrakion a reliable teammate to switch places with. Terrakion likes having offensive entry hazard setters such as Garchomp and Klefki to help it KO foes more easily. Terrakion also likes Psychic-, Flying-, and Fairy-types such as Starmie, Latios, Landorus-T, Mega Diancie, and Sylveon to take care of opposing Fighting-types. Fairy- and Grass-types such as Mega Diancie, Sylveon, and Serperior are also useful because of their ability to take care of Sableye and break down physical walls, especially bulky Ground-types. Terrakion also likes support from Steel- and Poison-types such as Excadrill, Scizor, Mega Scizor, and Gengar because they can take care of Fairy-types easily. Electric- and Grass-types such as Thundurus and Serperior are good teammates because they can take care of bulky Water-types such as Manaphy. Pokemon that like Ice-, Steel-, and Dark-types such as Mamoswine, Bisharp, and Weavile gone, such as Thundurus, Mega Diancie, and Gengar, appreciate Terrakion as a teammate because of how easily it takes care of those. Volt Switch, U-turn, and Parting Shot users such as Magnezone, Scizor, Sableye, and Weavile are good teammates for Terrakion because they can get it onto the field safely. Terrakion also appreciates Pursuit trappers and Dark-types in general as teammates because they can take care of Latios and Gengar easily.

Moves Close Combat KOes any possible threats to your team, such as Weavile, Heatran, Chansey, Magnezone, opposing Terrakion, Excadrill, and Ursaring. Diamond Storm is Terrakion's go-to Rock-type STAB move because of its high accuracy and damage. It is used to KO Thundurus, Mega Charizard Y, Tornadus-T, Gyarados, Gengar, Weavile, and weakened Latios, and it has a chance to boost Terrakion's Defense; however, Terrakion probably won't be staying in long enough for the Defense boost to go to use. Toxic can be used to let Terrakion quickly damage threatening foes like Landorus-T, Hippowdon, Rotom-W, and Slowbro. Iron Head lets Terrakion KO opposing Fairy-types like Mega Diancie, whereas Head Smash lets weakened Terrakion severely damage a foe as it goes down. Set Details A Choice Scarf, Jolly nature, and 252 Speed EVs let Terrakion outspeed and KO foes that it normally wouldn't, such as weakened Serperior, non-Choice Scarf opposing Terrakion, Mega Diancie, Gengar, and Latios. Choice Scarf also lets Terrakion revenge kill Tornadus-T, +1 Mega Charizard X, +2 Adamant Scizor, and Mega Lopunny. 252 Attack EVs let Terrakion deal as much damage as possible without running an Adamant nature. Justified is the only usable ability, and it gives a free boost to Terrakion's Attack whenever it's hit by a Dark-type move. Usage Tips Try not to switch Terrakion in if it isn't a safe switch, as it can easily be KOed by a lot of Pokemon. Use Terrakion to outspeed and KO Weavile and to revenge kill other Choice Scarf or Dragon Dance users. If Terrakion is facing a Prankster Pokemon with Parting Shot or Will-O-Wisp, switch into a Pokemon that has a momentum move and doesn't care about being weakened or burned to prevent Terrakion's Attack from being lowered. Team Options Terrakion works best on hyper offense teams thanks to its great movepool and coverage while also having the ability to work well with sand setters such as Hippowdon and Tyranitar thanks to its typing. Offensive entry hazard setters such as Klefki and Garchomp are good options for teammates because they help Terrakion KO threatening foes more easily. Psychic-, Flying-, and Fairy-types such as Starmie, Latios, Landorus-T, Mega Diancie, and Sylveon are good teammates for Terrakion because they can take care of opposing Fighting-types. Terrakion also likes Fairy- and Grass-types such as Mega Diancie, Sylveon, and Serperior as teammates because of their ability to take care of Sableye and break down physical walls, especially bulky Ground-types. Steel- and Poison-types are also good teammates because they can take care of the Fairy-types that Terrakion can't KO with Iron Head, such as Sylveon. Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Thundurus and Serperior make for good teammates for Terrakion because they take care of the bulky Water-types that Terrakion is threatened by, such as Manaphy. Any Pokemon that enjoys having Ice-, Steel-, and Dark-types gone are good teammates for Terrakion, as it can outspeed and KO common Pokemon of those types, such as Weavile, Bisharp, and Tyranitar. Pokemon that run U-turn, Volt Switch, or Parting Shot, such as Magnezone, Scizor, Mega Scizor, Sableye, and Weavile, are good teammates for Terrakion because they can safely get it onto the field. Any Pokemon that likes opposing Terrakion to be KOed appreciates Terrakion as a teammate because it will always outspeed or Speed tie with the opponent's Terrakion, depending on the latter's set. Fire absorbers such as Heatran, bulky Pokemon such as Chansey, and special attackers such as Clefable are good teammates for Terrakion because they can take Will-O-Wisps for it. Pursuit trappers and Dark-types in general pair well with Terrakion too because they can take care of Latios and Gengar. Lunar Dance support from Latias and Latios is useful to give Terrakion a second chance. Magnezone is useful for taking care of Skarmory and Mega Scizor, as Terrakion can't do this due to the lack of Swords Dance.

Moves Rock Slide is Terrakion's main STAB move because it's a spread attack, has decent Base Power, and has a nifty flinch chance. However, Stone Edge is an option to hit threats much harder at the loss of covering both foes. Close Combat hits very hard as well, granting Terrakion the option to snipe particular Pokemon. Quick Guard is used to protect Terrakion and its ally against the many priority attackers in Doubles, including Talonflame, Bisharp, and Azumarill. Terrakion also outspeeds, and therefore blocks, every common Fake Out user in the tier bar Weavile. Substitute allows Terrakion to set up on many status inducers, making its sweep much easier. However, Taunt can be used to reliably stop Trick Room, a playstyle that hurts Terrakion badly. Protect helps Terrakion scout for attacks, stall field conditions, and ruin double-targeting strategies. Set Comments Life Orb is the most reliable item because of the damage output and should be used with Substitute; the extra damage doesn't bother Terrakion much because it won't survive many hits anyway. Terrakion can use a Focus Sash decently as well to guarantee survival against any attack, but it must use Quick Guard in that set. A Lum Berry can easily fit into the set as well, as it allows Terrakion to take a Will-O-Wisp and switch into Heatran's or Mega Charizard Y's Heat Waves more reliably. Usage Tips The best way to use Terrakion in battle is to keep constant offensive pressure on the opponent. Use Close Combat or Stone Edge to snipe particular Pokemon and Rock Slide to get key spread damage on both foes. Terrakion is difficult to use because it is easily damaged beyond repair, so unless the damage is worth it, keep it out of play. This is why Terrakion works well as a late-game sweeper; once its threats are sufficiently damaged, Terrakion can just use Rock Slide and wipe them out. However, if a Focus Sash is being used, Terrakion can revenge kill almost any foe with little fear. Quick Guard is for situational threats, such as Prankster users and priority attackers. With a Focus Sash and Quick Guard, Terrakion makes a very good lead. Taunt should only be used when absolutely necessary, because if Terrakion uses Taunt and the foe attacks, Terrakion's teamslot is wasted. Lastly, remember that Terrakion attracts Intimidate users and faster sweepers like flies, so some smart double-switching is needed to get momentum up against these threats. Team Options Cresselia is a fantastic partner for Terrakion because it can take almost every attack aimed at it, boost the power of its attacks with Helping Hand, and neuter threats such as Hitmontop and Landorus-T with Psyshock and Icy Wind, respectively. Amoonguss can dispose of key threats with its great bulk and Spore, as well as direct attacks aimed at Terrakion towards itself with Rage Powder. Azumarill is a good offensive partner because its STAB attacks threaten almost every Intimidate user that plans on switching into Terrakion. Mega Charizard Y can eliminate the Grass- and Fighting-types that threaten Terrakion. Lastly, Tyranitar and Excadrill can handle the bulky Psychic-types that wall Terrakion.

Moves With a choice item, Terrakion sacrifices its flexibility in move choice for either blistering speed or intense attack power. Close Combat is the main Fighting-type attack that every Terrakion will use. Combined with Terrakion's Attack stat and the high Base Power of the move, Close Combat can deal a lot of damage to all targets that don't resist it and put large dents in teams. Rock Slide has the ability to hit many Pokemon that resist Close Combat for super effective damage. Rock Slide also has a nice 30% flinch chance, which can create free turns for the rest of your team or even swing momentum in your favor in tough situations. X-Scissor has the ability to hit Psychic-types such as Cresselia and Latios for super effective damage, which is helpful because they threaten Terrakion. Iron Head is the final move to help deal with Fairy-types, mainly Sylveon, and also has a 30% flinch chance. There is no real reason to run Poison Jab unless you need something extra to deal with Azumarill. Set Details Adamant is the optimal nature for Choice Scarf Terrakion because it is able to outspeed every legal Pokemon barring those with Tailwind or Thunder Wave support, boosts, or their own Choice Scarf. The only reason to run Jolly is if you are scared of these foes outspeeding Terrakion otherwise, Adamant is the way to go to ensure maximum damage output. 252 Atk / 252 Spe give Terrakion its maximum Speed and maximum damage output. There is typically no good reason to run Poison Jab over Iron Head unless you want to hit Azumarill harder. Choice Band is the other Choice item you'd want to use to allow Terrakion to hit extremely hard. Usage Tips Terrakion does not like having to switch into attacks due to its offensive nature. It's a better option to not switch Terrakion into an attack unless it's 100% safe or you have no other option. Speed control still has a great effect on Terrakion, and now that Terrakion is locked into an item, it will be affected even more greatly. However, if the opponent does not have a solid form of speed control and is threatened by Terrakion, this Pokemon can deal large amounts of damage, making it easier for the rest of your team to clean up. Team Options Pokemon with Defiant and Competitive are better than ever on a team with a Choice-locked Terrakion, as it is highly prone to Intimidate and Icy Wind. Taunt users are great to use with Terrakion, as they can prevent various forms of speed control from going up, such as Tailwind and Trick Room. This is what makes Thundurus such a great partner. Some players opt to use Terrakion with Mega Charizard Y or Gyarados in an attempt to stop or limit the effects of rain, which would otherwise hurt Terrakion.

Moves Terrakion has one of the best, if not the best, offensive typings in the game, and the main aim of its moveset is to use that typing to its full advantage. Close Combat is the Fighting-type STAB attack Terrakion will use, and its huge 120 Base Power backed up by Terrakion's base 129 Attack stat means it can deal large amounts of damage to foes that don't resist it. Rock Slide is a great STAB spread move that also has a handy 30% chance to cause each of the opposing Pokemon to flinch. Quick Guard allows Terrakion to support the rest of the team and itself by blocking priority moves including Fake Out if Terrakion is faster than the Fake Out user. Taunt has the ability to help Terrakion deal with speed control such as Trick Room and Tailwind, which would typically trouble it. Protect is used for scouting or blocking attacks and is one of the best moves in doubles. Set Details A Jolly nature is typically the better nature on this Terrakion set, as it makes the most out of Terrakion's Speed stat and allows Quick Guard to block more Fake Outs than Terrakion could with Adamant, such as Mienshao and Jolly Mega Kangaskhan. The EV spread allows Terrakion to make the most out of its best attacks and hit fast and hard. Focus Sash is a good item for Terrakion, as it allows Terrakion to always survive one attack, which could allow it to stay around on the battlefield for more than that one turn. Life Orb is another option to let Terrakion deal more damage then it would with Focus Sash. Lum Berry can help with burns, paralysis and sleep. It also makes Swagger + Lum Berry a potential combination. Because the third moveslot is flexible, Substitute is another option to run to help Terrakion stay on the battlefield even longer. Usage Tips Because Terrakion commonly can't switch in to many attacks, try to avoid bringing in Terrakion on Pokemon that may have a super effective move against it. This is also so you don't potentially break Terrakion's Focus Sash, which will allow Terrakion to stay around longer. Terrakion is a Pokemon that hits hard and is very good at doing it. This means it's typically a good idea to bring Terrakion to a battle where it can threaten a lot of the opposing Pokemon or deal a good amount of damage to the majority of the opponent's team. However, due to the fact that Terrakion can be stopped by various forms of speed control, it is typically not a good idea to bring Terrakion into a battle if your opponent is using strategies such as Trick Room or Tailwind offense. Team Options Pokemon with Defiant or Competitive such as Bisharp and Milotic are good partners for Terrakion, as they can prevent Intimidate users from switching in, which is helpful because Intimidate greatly affects Terrakion's damage output and use on the field. Terrakion can also benefit from its own speed control to help versus other forms of speed control, which is what makes Togekiss such a good partner. Not only can Togekiss learn Tailwind, but it also is a Flying-type and can help with Terrakion's Ground weakness and can use Follow Me to redirect Fighting-type moves which would typically be aimed at Terrakion. Thundurus is also a good partner for Terrakion, as it can Thunder Wave threats to weaken them or use Taunt to prevent Trick Room and Tailwind. Lastly, Whimsicott is able to use Tailwind and Encore to benefit Terrakion; it also has access to Beat Up, which can be used to give Terrakion a +4 Attack boost from Justified.

Set Description Close Combat is a strong STAB move that is used against foes like Snorlax and Air Balloon Heatran. Rock Slide is another great STAB move that deals with Volcarona and Thundurus. Earthquake is used for Raikou, non-Air Balloon Heatran, and Metagross. Double Kick enables Terrakion to defeat Magnezone, but Terrakion needs to run Adamant for an OHKO. Bulldoze is an option to beat Pressure stall Raikou, while X-Scissor beats non-Choice Scarf Celebi. EVs Maximum Speed EVs, with a Jolly nature, make Terrakion able to outspeed Modest Keldeo and non-Timid Raikou. Usage Tips Usually, Terrakion should just use its strongest move against the foe. However, against some foes that often use Custap Berry and Endure, like Porygon-Z, avoiding Close Combat may be best so Terrakion doesn't lower its Defense and Special Defense.

Set Description Fighting Gem turns Terrakion's Close Combat into an extremely powerful move. Substitute plays around Counter users like Crustle and Snorlax. Rock Slide is used against Rock-weak foes like Volcarona and Thundurus. Stone Edge is a stronger, less-accurate option that more reliably beats some bulkier Rock-weak targets, such as Flying Gem Tornadus and bulky Thundurus-T. Close Combat should be used against most neutral foes, like Haxorus and Raikou, and Fighting-weak foes like Heatran, Snorlax, and Tyranitar, as expected. Quick Attack is used to handle Pokemon that often use a Custap Berry, like Haxorus and Porygon-Z. EVs Terrakion uses maximum Speed EVs and a Jolly nature to outspeed Modest Keldeo and non-Timid Raikou. Usage Tips Terrakion should open with Close Combat or Rock Slide in most matchups, but against Counter users like Crustle and Snorlax, Terrakion needs to use Substitute before attacking.

Terrakion can support the team with an effective Stealth Rock lead set. This set takes advantage of Terrakion's offensive presence to create free turns to setup the crucial Stealth Rock. The offensive pressure also makes it difficult for opposing Rapid Spin users to remove the entry hazard and allows Terrakion to be conserved for later to function as a mid-game attacker. Terrakion's trusty STAB combination is all it needs for offense, as it is strong and has excellent coverage. This variant is designed to lead and support the team, so Stealth Rock is a natural choice. Taunt is a great move to have in the Ubers metagame and doubly so on something as weak to Giratina as Terrakion, although Dragon Tail variants are still annoying. It also helps stop other Stealth Rock and Spikes setters from getting to lay their entry hazards down at the same time. Fist Plate allows Terrakion to OHKO lead Dialga, any Tyranitar variant, and Ferrothorn, along with 2HKOing Forretress switch-ins. Focus Sash is useful if you want Terrakion to be a dedicated lead and simplify setting up Stealth Rock or score an extra hit, but the power drop in comparison to Fist Plate is noticeable. Quick Attack can be used to limit Deoxys-S leads to a single layer of entry hazards in which case you should use a Life Orb in order to maintain the benefits of Fist Plate while also ensuring that you 2HKO Deoxys-S with Stone Edge and Quick Attack. The goal of this set is to support the rest of the team, so it doesn't need any special support for itself. All the same, a Ghost-type is appreciated, as Terrakion isn't a sturdy Stealth Rock setter and may no longer be around once Stealth Rock is spun away. There are certain leads that Terrakion can not beat, such as Darkrai in general, or Deoxys-S if Terrakion doesn't run Quick Attack, so Pokemon that have a favorable match-up against them, such as Choice Scarf Genesect and Giratina-O, will be needed. These Pokemon can also serve as switch-ins to common Terrakion checks, as Giratina-O can handle bulky Ground-types like Groudon while most defensive checks to Darkrai, such as Ho-Oh or Kyogre, can also check Arceus-Ghost.

This is Terrakion's least flexible set, as it's Choice-locked and slow compared to the others but it makes up for these drawbacks with raw power. It doesn't have to waste any time boosting up to crush things and it's fairly fast in the Ubers metagame. Unlike other Choice Band users, Terrakion always has a safe option, since both its STAB moves are strong attacks with little drawbacks. They are once again the heart of the set with the filler options being even more situational because of the extra strength and lack of Speed. Quick Attack is surprisingly the most useful of its remaining options, as the extra punch from Choice Band barely gives it a relevant amount of power, so it's helpful to have the utility of priority for a slower set. Rock Slide is always nice to have since Stone Edge can choose to miss at the most inopportune moments. Toxic is exclusively for the likes of Arceus-Ghost, which becomes a bigger pain for this set than the Choice Scarf variant since the drop in Speed means Terrakion is now slower and it still can't even do as much as 60% to bulky Calm Mind variants. Sacred Sword is sort of an option to deal more damage to Bulk Up Dialga, but Close Combat hits so hard already that the difference isn't really notable. Choice Band Terrakion is far less entry hazard dependent than the other sets, as that extra passive damage is really only worthwhile for Giratina and Arceus-Ghost. However, it is much more reliant on teammates, as it's designed to switch in, hit hard, and switch back out. The same teammates that work for Choice Scarf apply for this set. It will also need a stronger general defensive backbone out of the team supporting it to deal with the large amount of threats that now outspeed Terrakion. You can also support it with Thunder Wave to slow down those faster threats.

Choice Scarf Terrakion is the fastest commonly seen Pokemon in the Ubers metagame, ignoring the weather sweepers Kingdra and Excadrill. This exceptional speed, on top of its sturdiness against common priority, such as Extreme Speed, greatly helps make Terrakion such an effective cleaner. It's also a reliable revenge killer, being able to hit the majority of the metagame hard with one of its STAB moves and is even one of the few Pokemon that can claim to revenge kill the infamous Extreme Killer Arceus through its resistance to Normal-type attacks and super effective Close Combat. For the most part, this set is made up of Terrakion's two strong STAB choices, Close Combat and Stone Edge, with the rest being filler options. Toxic is an appealing choice to cripple common switch-ins such as Arceus-Ghost and Groudon. Sleep Talk is an alternative to Toxic if you would rather your Terrakion serve as a sleep absorber for Darkrai, which is effective, although it's disappointing to lose control over your moves. Rock Slide is for when you want a higher chance to hit with your Rock STAB and even has a tasty flinch chance to disrupt things like lead Deoxys-S. Sacred Sword is another option if you need a way to bypass the last straggling Bulk Up Dialga or increase the odds of selecting a Fighting STAB with Sleep Talk. You want your Terrakion to hit as fast and hard as possible, while having the remaining 4 EVs in Defense so that Genesect has a weaker U-turn and Iron Head in case you decide to switch out or stay in to eat the hit. As appealing as it may be, an Adamant nature is not an option as Terrakion then loses the ability to outspeed other very common Choice Scarf users like Genesect. X-Scissor has the benefit of hitting Psychic-types like Latias and Mewtwo for a tad more than Stone Edge and doesn't risk missing, but it's a terrible move to lock yourself into. You can even go so far as to not run a fourth move at all if you prefer to always choose one of Terrakion's strong STAB moves with Sleep Talk. The first thing you need to do if you plan on cleaning is get Ghost-types out of the way, or at least in range of a Stone Edge KO. You'll also have to soften up the resists to whichever STAB you aim to finish the game with, although it'll mostly be the Fighting-type resists you want gone, since Close Combat is stronger and more accurate than Stone Edge. Entry hazards are an excellent way to accomplish this by racking up passive damage and limiting the number of times they can switch in. It's worthwhile to pack a switch-in to the Ground-types that can stomach Stone Edge, such as Groudon, as well as something for those Ghost-types that will giggle at Close Combat. Giratina-O does a fine job of handling most Ground-types as well as spinblocking so that entry hazards stay up to wear them down. Just about anything with meaty special bulk and no weakness to Ghost- or Fighting-type attacks can be used to keep Arceus-Ghost in line. Giratina is relatively easy to switch into as long as you have something that doesn't mind burn. Giratina-O is the trickiest to handle because Dragon Tail hurts and forces the switch-in out, so try to keep hazards off the field, pack multiple things that can force it out to increase your chances that one of them gets dragged in, and use something that can put up with multiple Dragon Tails and the potential Earthquake, such as Skarmory. Pokemon such as Darkrai and Palkia with super effective STAB attacks against common switch-ins to Terrakion are good for double switching.

When all the coverage you need can be summed up with two high-powered STAB attacks, it's clear that a double dance set becomes viable. Double dance Terrakion adapts to the opposing team type and situation through using the appropriate boosting move. This set's effectiveness is further boosted by Terrakion's natural resistance to common priority attacks, thus easing its attempts to sweep. Don't feel obligated to click a boosting move at every chance you get, as even an unboosted Terrakion is dangerous. This set functions at its best when biding its time for the ideal moment. Running both Close Combat and Stone Edge is standard fare for Terrakion and this set won't leave you wanting for any other coverage options or fillers thanks to the two setup moves it has. Swords Dance is used when you want Terrakion to bust through defensive cores on balanced or stall teams. You will want to click Rock Polish for offensive or balanced teams that you have managed to weaken and are ready for cleanup. Life Orb is the preferred item due to the slew of key KOs it secures, such as Substitute shuffler Giratina-O, Latios, Wobbuffet, and Gliscor, as well as for the general extra punch, especially to Ghost-types. Fist Plate is an acceptable alternative as it still gets many important KOs, saves HP, and fakes a Choice set. Air Balloon is another item choice that allows Terrakion to mess with Pokemon like Groudon, Hippowdon, and Earthquake Extreme Killer Arceus. Taunt can be used over a boosting move to be more flexible with Rock Polish sweeps or as a really dedicated wallbreaker when used alongside Swords Dance. This set appreciates entry hazard support to help up setup Rock Polish cleanups or wallbreak with Swords Dance, but doesn't need it as much as the Choice Scarf variant. If you are adamant about using Terrakion's setup moves, dual screens and/or Wobbuffet support is useful to help buy you those free turns. Wobbuffet is doubly useful because of the ease with which it traps Mewtwo and Choice Scarf users, thus easing Terrakion's need to use Rock Polish. Thunder Wave support, from Pokemon such as Arceus-Grass or Kyogre, is also effective at slowing the opposing team down so that you can click Swords Dance instead of Rock Polish. Otherwise, this set is very flexible so it's nice to have a flexible team around it. Pokemon that can switch into common checks are worth having so that Terrakion can act as a early or mid-game attacker. Using lures or teammates whose checks overlap with Terrakion's helps to weaken a team for a late-game Rock Polish cleanup.

Close Combat and Rock Slide are used for dual STAB moves, and the last two moves are for coverage. Earthquake can be used if you don't like being locked into Quick Attack, but Quick Attack is a good option in the late-game. X-Scissor can deal heavy damage to Musharna and Reuniclus. Sacred Sword is an option here if the drop to Terrakion's defenses each time it uses Close Combat is worrisome, but this set is more about power and Speed than longevity. The item choice is largely dependent on your team. On many teams, Terrakion would need a Choice Scarf, as it has no other way of boosting its Speed (outside of Rock Polish, but that's generally not recommended in VGC). An Adamant nature should be used with Choice Scarf. However, if you have Tailwind support, a Choice Band and an Adamant nature are appropriate. A Jolly nature should only be used if you are concerned about Speed tying with other Terrakion. The EV spread maximizes Attack and Speed and allocates 4 EVs to Defense, allowing Terrakion to take Tornadus's Flying Gem-boosted Acrobatics.

This is a set built to be used with Tailwind support, and deal damage right off the bat. Close Combat and Rock Slide are Terrakion's dual STAB attacks, which are only resisted by Golurk in VGC 2011. Quick Attack finishes off weakened foes. Protect can be used to stall out Trick Room or avoid taking an attack while Terrakion's partner attacks and KOes a threat. Quick Guard stops priority attacks such as Fake Out and Mach Punch, which can help Terrakion stay alive and allow a partner to set up Tailwind or boost Terrakion's attack with Beat Up. Safeguard blocks Spore from one of the most common Pokemon in the metagame, Amoonguss. Focus Sash is generally the preferred item to help Terrakion avoid getting OHKOed by one of Terrakion's many weaknesses, but Life Orb provides the power to muscle through the opponent. The choice of nature is one between power and Speed, but an Adamant nature should only be used if you have Tailwind support to compensate for the lower Speed. The EV spread is fairly straightforward, focusing on getting as much power and Speed as possible, while 4 Defense EVs allow Terrakion to always survive Tornadus's Flying Gem-boosted Acrobatics. Anything that can set up Tailwind is a boon to Terrakion, making Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Tornadus good teammates. Whimsicott can also be used with a Choice Scarf for a Beat Up combo, raising Terrakion's Attack up to four stages in one turn and making it deadly in an instant. Hydreigon, Landorus, and Thundurus are also good candidates to partner with Terrakion, allowing it to unleash powerful Earthquakes without the fear of hurting its partner. Musharna is good for taking down other Fighting-types and removing Trick Room if it gets set up. Musharna can also boost Terrakion's moves with Helping Hand.

With a Choice Scarf, Terrakion outspeeds almost everything without more than a +1 boost in Speed, enabling it to take out certain opponents, such as Low Kick Weavile, before they have a chance to attack. Close Combat and Rock Slide are staples for great coverage; Earthquake deals less damage than STAB Rock Slide and might possibly damage your ally, but nets extra coverage and functions as another spread attack when Rock Slide wouldn't be as useful or if you really need the 100% accuracy; it forms the infamous QuakeSlide combo with Rock Slide as well. Earthquake is also notable for hitting Toxicroak super effectively; as it resists all of Terrakion's other attacks, it otherwise walls Terrakion while posing a threat with STAB Fighting-type attacks. X-Scissor hits Psychic-types harder than any of Terrakion's other moves do. Just keep in mind that it won't OHKO bulky Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Musharna, while 252+ Musharna has a 81% chance to OHKO Terrakion with Psychic, and Reuniclus will OHKO for sure. Jolly is the preferred nature to outspeed Choice Scarf Garchomp and Modest Ludicolo in the rain, as well as any other Choice Scarf users with a base Speed less than 108. Jolly Terrakion also Speed-ties with neutral-natured Shiftry and Venusaur in the sun, along with +2 Blaziken. However, an Adamant nature is a viable option for the extra power. The EVs are the same as the previous set for the same reasons listed. Choice Scarf Terrakion shares similar checks and counters as non-Choice Scarf Terrakion. However, Earthquake and X-Scissor dent many would-be counters, such as Toxicroak, while the extra Speed makes Terrakion more difficult to revenge kill, but this comes at the price of being locked into one attack. Choice Scarf Terrakion doesn't need Tailwind support, but hates Trick Room even more than usual. Tyranitar sets up sandstorm to support Terrakion, and is a great answer to the many Ghost- and Psychic-types that set up Trick Room; with its low Speed, Tyranitar also benefits from Trick Room should the opponent set it up. Terrakion appreciates both Wide Guard and Quick Guard support to avoid many super effective attacks such as Earthquake and Mach Punch, even more so than the previous set as it doesn't have Protect. Unfortunately, most of the users of those two attacks share Terrakion's Fighting typing, meaning the team will be doubly weak to Psychic-type attacks. Nevertheless, Hitmontop is the best user of both those attacks because it has Sucker Punch to dent Psychic-types and can use Fake Out as Terrakion uses X-Scissor.

This is Terrakion's standard set. Close Combat and Rock Slide form a nearly unresisted STAB combo, one hitting an individual target very hard, and the other hitting both opponents, albeit for less damage. Quick Attack can finish off weakened opponents, and is the usual choice for the third moveslot. An alternative option to Quick Attack is Quick Guard, as Terrakion is weak to Mach Punch, Bullet Punch, and Aqua Jet, with the first two priority moves being very prevalent. If you have teammates that are also weak to common priority attacks, Quick Guard can protect both Terrakion and your teammate from them. It also provides protection against Fake Out from Pokemon that are slower than Terrakion, and temporarily shuts down Technician Hitmontop, whose only form of offense is in the form of priority attacks. Protect is a staple move in doubles play, as it keeps Terrakion safe from harm as a teammate eliminates a potential threat to it, and lets Terrakion stall out at least one turn of Trick Room or Tailwind, in addition to guarding it from priority. Quick Guard can also be used over Protect, but this isn't recommended as Protect is generally superior to either of the moves in the third slot. Focus Sash is a great item for Terrakion in doubles play, as it allows Terrakion to survive common super effective attacks. Life Orb gives Terrakion a major boost in power and is a viable alternative to Focus Sash, however. As far as EVs are concerned, always maximize Speed to Speed-tie with Infernape and other Terrakion. 4 EVs each in HP and Defense enable Terrakion to always survive Jolly Tornadus's Flying Gem Acrobatics. 244 Attack EVs give the same Attack as 248, so the remaining EVs are thrown into Special Defense, as they are of no use elsewhere. Earthquake can be used in the third moveslot if the listed options aren't to your liking, but the only notable Pokemon it hits harder is Toxicroak. Terrakion enjoys teammates that can take out Fighting-types, as it cannot do so itself. Terrakion especially fears Mach Punch from Hitmontop and Conkeldurr, as the move bypasses Terrakion's superior Speed. Flying-types such as Tornadus and Staraptor are thus great teammates, as they both outspeed and OHKO the common Fighting-types, as well as Amoonguss that lack Coba Berry, which walls Terrakion while simultaneously threatening it with Spore and STAB Giga Drain. Speaking of Tornadus, Terrakion loves the Tailwind support it provides, as it enables Terrakion to outrun almost everything. Beat Up support gives Terrakion a +4 Attack boost thanks to its ability, Justified, making it a very deadly sweeper. Whimsicott is easily the best Beat Up supporter, as it can also provide Tailwind, Charm, and Helping Hand support. Furthermore, Whimsicott appreciates Terrakion's Quick Guard, which lets it avoid Fake Out from opponents slower than Terrakion. Keep in mind, however, that Focus Sash is counterproductive with the Beat Up strategy. Sandstorm support helps Terrakion survive even super effective STAB special attacks. The weather is best set up by Tyranitar, who deals with the Psychic-types that threaten Terrakion. Tyranitar can remove the rain set up by Politoed as well, preventing Swift Swim users from outspeeding and OHKOing Terrakion with their rain-boosted attacks. Latios is another excellent partner, as its typing and special bulk provide your team with durability against Water-type attacks. Additionally, Latios can OHKO Water-types with either Thunderbolt or Draco Meteor, and remove Fighting-types (barring Scrafty) with its STAB Psychic-type attacks. Finally, Fire-type partners can take out Scizor and Metagross, which threaten Terrakion with priority STAB Bullet Punch. Ninetales is notable as it also sets up sunshine to remove Terrakion's weakness to Water-type moves. However, while Terrakion usually enjoys sunshine, it enjoys sandstorm support even more. If using Ninetales, be careful of opposing Chlorophyll users that can outspeed Terrakion and hit it super effectively with Grass-type attacks.

Terrakion fulfills a unique niche as a fast Fighting-type, capable of outspeeding and OHKOing common Fighting-weak Pokemon like Kyurem-B, Heatran, and Tyranitar. Terrakion, however, is held back by its susceptibility to speed control and Intimidate. It is also unable to significantly damage the bulky support Pokemon in the metagame, such as Jellicent, Cresselia, and Amoonguss. Finally, its Rock-typing gives it additional weaknesses to common types, such as Water, Steel, and Ground, which makes Conkeldurr and Scrafty more consistent Fighting-types. Stone Edge is Terrakion's strongest Rock-type STAB attack, notably OHKOing Thundurus. Rock Slide is an alternative that trades power for a consistent spread attack that can chip foes. Substitute blocks Intimidate drops and debilitating status such as Thunder Wave, while Taunt gives Terrakion utility against bulky support Pokemon that it cannot damage. Lum Berry improves Terrakion's matchup against Thundurus by keeping it safe from Thunder Wave once, allowing Terrakion to set up a Substitute or damage it with its Rock-type attacks. Fighting Gem increases Terrakion's already high damage output by giving it a one-time nuke option, guaranteeing the OHKO on Ferrothorn and a high chance to OHKO Kyurem-B after an Intimidate drop. Thundurus is an excellent teammate thanks to Thunder Wave slowing down threats that outspeed Terrakion, such as Latios and Kingdra. In return, Terrakion beats Kyurem-B and Tyranitar, two of Thundurus's biggest checks. Cresselia is another good teammate due to its access to speed control and ability to threaten Landorus-T, Hitmontop, and Conkeldurr. Rain teams benefit from Terrakion's ability to threaten Kyurem-B, Thundurus, Tyranitar, and Ferrothorn while Kingdra threatens Landorus-T. The duo of Kingdra and Terrakion also have strong STAB spread attacks that make it difficult for the foe to switch into.

A great base 108 Speed stat combined with an outstanding base 129 Attack makes Terrakion a solid Choice Band user. Choice Band boosts Terrakion's power to incredible heights, allowing it to muscle through anything that does not resist it. Even Skarmory, the standard for physical walling, will hate switching into a STAB Close Combat. Stone Edge, Terrakion's secondary STAB move, takes care of Dragonite and Volcarona, two huge threats in the Dream World metagame. X-Scissor eliminates pesky Psychic-types such as Latias, Latios, Reuniclus, and Slowbro, all of whom might switch in hoping to sponge a Close Combat. Sacred Sword is an inferior Close Combat because the power difference is considerable. Quick Attack is interesting: although it is weak, it does decent damage with a Choice Band, and it lets Terrakion eliminate weakened Choice Scarf revenge killers and boosted sweepers. Earthquake can be used over either move slashed in the last slot, as it hits Jirachi, Toxicroak, and Tentacruel super effectively. However, Close Combat provides more than enough coverage, and as such isn't really necessary. The EV spread is straightforward, as its main purpose is to sweep. While a Jolly nature is recommended as it lets Terrakion outspeed Jolly Landorus, an Adamant nature isn't completely worthless, as it enables Terrakion to 2HKO walls such as Gliscor with Stone Edge. The main problem this set faces is being locked into a single move. If it's locked into Close Combat, SubDisable Gengar can force it to switch and get a free Substitute in the process. As specially defensive Jirachi lets you beat the aforementioned Gengar, it makes a good teammate. Chandelure can also come in on Terrakion locked into Close Combat, set up a Substitute, boost up with Calm Mind, and proceed to demolish your team. It is recommended you get rid of Chandelure before sending out Terrakion for a sweep, making Pursuit users such as Tyranitar excellent partners. Dragonite is also an ideal partner as it can not only take Fighting-type attacks but also wall Chandelure and eliminate it with Earthquake. Breloom can revenge kill this Terrakion with Mach Punch, but it can be taken out by Choice Scarf Chandelure. Chandelure can also trap and get rid of both Scizor and Gengar.

Terrakion's excellent coverage makes it one of the best Choice Scarf users in the Dream World metagame. Its amazing Speed, coupled with access to powerful moves, allows it to revenge kill several boosted threats in the Dream World, such as the popular Choice Scarf Chandelure, +2 Dragonite, +1 Volcarona, as well as +1 Salamence. Close Combat is its main STAB move, while Stone Edge is used to hit Flying-types such as Tornadus super effectively. X-Scissor allows Terrakion to hit the Psychic-types that resist Close Combat, Terrakion's main move, hard. Terrakion's last move is based on preference; Earthquake can hit Jirachi, Tentacruel and Toxicroak for super effective damage; however, Sacred Sword is useful in situations where one does not want Terrakion's defenses lowered by Close Combat, if you're trying to land a 2HKO on a Pokemon who could hit you hard after the first hit. The drop in defenses could cause Terrakion to faint, so Sacred Sword would be the preferred option in similar situations. The EV spread lets Terrakion hit as hard and fast as possible, which is mandatory for a set whose purpose is to revenge kill at high speed. A Jolly nature is necessary, as it lets Terrakion outspeed Choice Scarf Landorus. An Adamant nature isn't recommended, as this Terrakion's main purpose is to revenge kill, not to sweep; moreover, running it means that it will also be outsped by Choice Scarf Landorus. Quick Attack can also be used, but without an item boost, it won't be damaging much at all. Breloom is a big threat to this set, as its Technician-boosted Mach Punch takes Terrakion down in one hit. As Chandelure can trap and take out Breloom due its immunity to Mach Punch and resistance to Bullet Seed, it is therefore a good teammate. Scizor threatens this set in a similar fashion, making Magnezone a good partner. It can come in easily on a Choice Band Scizor locked into Bullet Punch, and Substitute + Charge Beam variants can often KO another opponent after it dispatches Scizor. Opposing Chandelure are deadly to this Terrakion as well. As Terrakion cannot hurt Chandelure if it is locked into Close Combat, and cannot switch out on top of that, Substitute + Calm Mind Chandelure can freely set up to +6 and rip your team apart. Tyranitar is a great teammate, as it can use Pursuit to trap and take out Chandelure as well as bulky Psychic-types such as Slowbro, who would otherwise stand in Terrakion's way. In addition, it summons a sandstorm that boosts Terrakion's Special Defense, and can provide Stealth Rock support, which helps Terrakion take down Multiscale Dragonite in particular.

A great offensive typing and decent bulk allow Terrakion to pull off a double boosting set. Access to both Swords Dance and Rock Polish gives Terrakion the option to double either its Attack or Speed, letting it flourish in a wide variety of situations. For example, Rock Polish lets Terrakion sweep a team of fast, frail Pokemon, while Swords Dance ramps up its power considerably and allows it to leave many dents in even teams of relatively slower and bulkier Pokemon. In fact, if Terrakion manages to nab both boosts and opposing priority users are KOed, it's pretty much game over. All in all, if used correctly, Double Dance Terrakion is easily one of the deadliest sweepers in the metagame. This Terrakion can utilize a variety of items. Air Balloon grants it a temporary immunity to Ground-type moves, possibly letting it set up against Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Landorus; it is also incredibly useful against the likes of Gliscor, as the additional Swords Dance boost will let Terrakion take it down. Furthermore, the Air Balloon allows Terrakion to beat Excadrill in a one-on-one situation under sandstorm. While it breaks Terrakion's Balloon and fails to OHKO, Terrakion can use Rock Polish to boost its Speed, then take Excadrill out with Close Combat. Life Orb isn't a bad choice either, as it allows Terrakion an extra boost in power, which can come in handy if it doesn't manage to nab an Attack boost. The nature choice is also a difficult one to make. An Adamant nature is helpful in cases where you'd want to boost your own Speed with Rock Polish. A Jolly nature, though, gives you a more consistent Speed stat throughout the match, when you don't have any boosts up, especially as an Adamant one leaves you open to be outsped by the likes of Keldeo, Infernape and Virizion. Again, it's based on preference and suiting your team's needs. If your team can deal with the above threats, you can run an Adamant nature without any problems. With regards to partners, Tyranitar stands out as Terrakion appreciates the 50% Special Defense boost sandstorm grants it. Tyranitar can also bring Stealth Rock support to the table, allowing Terrakion to deal with Volcarona and Dragonite more easily. The latter's Multiscale gets broken by sandstorm as well, which can prove very helpful. Landorus is also a great fellow sandstorm sweeper thanks to Sheer Force. Furthermore, Hidden Power Ice variants can lure in and take out Gliscor, opening Terrakion to an easier sweep. Bulky variants of Gyarados help against Scizor, Metagross, and Breloom, as Intimidate lowers their Attack, leaving them unable to do much in return; Gyarados can also tank Fighting-type hits.

Terrakion is a Pokemon that will always be prone to being revenge killed by Breloom's Mach Punch and Scizor's Bullet Punch; it is also vulnerable to and crippled by all forms of status. For these reasons, it makes an effective Substitute user. As it poses a massive offensive threat, Terrakion can often easily switch into and scare out foes such as Tyranitar, and safely put up a Substitute. Substitute not only allows Terrakion to dodge status effects, but also grants Terrakion a free turn to either get a Swords Dance boost or take down an opponent. Furthermore, as previously mentioned, the Substitute lets Terrakion take a hit from faster opponents and then take them out. For example, Starmie, Alakazam, Breloom, and Scizor can break Terrakion's Substitute, but they would then be forced to take a strong, often fatal, hit in return. The moveset is fairly straightforward; Substitute and Swords Dance both help Terrakion sweep with its two best STAB moves, Close Combat and Stone Edge. The combination of Rock and Fighting provides near-perfect coverage in the Dream World metagame, meaning that Terrakion doesn't even need any other moves. Close Combat enables it to muscle through defensive walls such as Ferrothorn, while Stone Edge lets it beat Chandelure, Dragonite, Salamence, and Volcarona. The boost provided by Swords Dance elevates Terrakion's Attack stat to an impressive 714, which lets it threaten even the standard Gliscor with an OHKO. Terrakion's Attack and Speed are maximized as they are the only stats worth investing in. A Jolly nature is used so that Terrakion outspeeds Landorus, Keldeo, Infernape, and Virizion. Besides, Swords Dance already skyrockets Terrakion's Attack stat to ridiculous heights, so the extra Attack is generally unneeded. Rock Gem lets +2 Terrakion OHKO the standard Gliscor after Stealth Rock. The lack of Life Orb recoil can also let Terrakion bluff a Choice Band or Choice Scarf, which can possibly allow it to lure in and take out Chandelure. Alternatively, Leftovers provides recovery to mitigate the HP loss from Substitute. Life Orb is a final option to let Terrakion consistently hit harder, instead of doing massive damage just once with a Rock Gem. Wish support is very helpful, as Terrakion will be taking damage from Substitute and possibly Life Orb recoil very frequently. Chansey and Blissey should be the main candidates for this role, as they can also sponge specially based Psychic-type attacks directed towards Terrakion. Chandelure can trap and eliminate Breloom, while Magnezone can do the same to Scizor. The sandstorm Tyranitar summons gives Terrakion a Special Defense boost, letting its Substitute withstand Jellicent's Scald. However, note that the latter two Pokemon compound Terrakion's Fighting weakness. On that note, Latias is a good partner for its amazing synergy with Terrakion.
