Análisis

Arboliva serves as a devastating wallbreaker, utilizing its excellent STAB combination and solid coverage to OHKO or 2HKO almost the entire tier. Hyper Voice serves as an excellent neutral attack, dealing massive damage to foes like Charizard and Whimsicott. Leaf Storm is preferred as its Grass-type STAB, maximizing damage against special walls like Cryogonal while potentially OHKOing foes like Mesprit and Spiritomb. Earth Power helps Arboliva hit Perrserker and Muk while Alluring Voice serves as effective coverage against the likes of Virizion and Lurantis while being an excellent tertiary STAB option post Terastallization. Tera Fairy is used for survivability reasons, flipping its matchup against foes like Primeape and the previously mentioned Virizion. The given EV spread allows Arboliva to outpace Regirock and Weezing to avoid being threatened by their super effective attacks before it can break them. Arboliva greatly appreciates pivoting teammates that can help safely bring it in like Basculin, Vikavolt, and Primeape, with it working alongside them to break down opposing teams. Physically offensive teammates like Hisuian Sneasel, Hitmontop, and Lycanroc appreciate Arboliva's ability to threaten massive damage to defensive foes like Regirock and Spiritomb; in turn, they pressure walls Arboliva struggles with like Cryogonal. Entry hazard support from the likes of Sandslash and Mesprit help augment Arboliva's wallbreaking, making damage stick on the likes of Muk while potentially pushing them into range to be 2HKOed by Leaf Storm and Hyper Voice, respectively. Defensive Mesprit is a particularly excellent teammate for Arboliva, as it is able to provide a variety of utility options between Knock Off to remove Eviolite and Leftovers, U-turn for momentum, hazard support with Stealth Rock, and Encore to stop Muk in its tracks. It also works well with Arboliva defensively, where the former handles Fighting-type foes, while the latter handles Ghost-types like Trevenant and Spiritomb. Defensive teammates like Regirock and Weezing help cover for Arboliva’s weaknesses to common threats like Charizard, Sneasel, and Virizion.

Análisis

Arboliva is a solid bulky attacker in ZU due to its incredible longevity from the combination of Leech Seed, Leftovers, and Grassy Terrain and formidable defensive and offensive stats. Outside of Steel-types, such as Magneton and Orthworm, and Trevenant, both of which still do not enjoy switching into Arboliva's attacks, the combination of Leaf Storm and Hyper Voice is unresisted in ZU. Giga Drain is a solid alternative to Leaf Storm that helps in prolonged one-on-ones but lacks immediate power; Leaf Storm can pickup 2HKOs on foes like Mesprit and Whimsicott. Leech Seed helps Arboliva fend off many Pokemon, especially in tandem with Strength Sap, which is great when up against physical attackers such as Lycanroc and Perrserker. Protect can be ran instead, which lets Arboliva safely accumulate healing. 92 Speed EVs let Arboliva outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Muk and Regirock. Tera Poison and Tera Ghost help Arboliva turn the tables on the plethora of Fighting-types in ZU such as Primeape and Hisuian Sneasel. While Ghost provides a Fighting immunity, Poison is usually preferred due to its immunity to poison and neutrality to Dark. Bulky attacker Arboliva fits on slower-paced bulky offense and balance teams and works best when paired with Pokemon that are able to make great use of the Grassy Terrain it provides such as Muk and Spiritomb. Arboliva's worst matchup is Venusaur, which is immune to Leech Seed, is able to shrug off Arboliva's Grass-type attacks, and make progress with Knock Off or Sludge Bomb, so Pokemon who are well equipped at dealing with Venusaur such as Muk, Cryogonal and Orthworm make for solid teammates. Spiritomb provides a solid switch-in to Fighting- and Poison-type attacks, while Grassy Terrain creates many setup opportunities for it. Other Fighting- and Poison-resistant Pokemon like Sandslash and Weezing also work well. Regirock and Muk are great switch-ins to Fire-types such as Charizard and Magmortar, and they also enjoy the passive recovery Grassy Terrain provides. Arboliva is often a liability against setup sweepers, especially against Quiver Dance users like Lilligant, which makes some sort of setup prevention, like Prankster Encore from Whimsicott and Sableye or Roar from Charizard, preferred.
