Choice Band Meowscarada turns the tables on typical checks of its Choice Scarf set, as it 2HKOes Skarmory and Toxapex with minimal chip damage, allowing it to cut through bulkier Water, Flying, and Ground teams. Knock Off removes annoying items like Rocky Helmet and Heavy-Duty Boots on the aforementioned Skarmory and Toxapex, allowing Meowscarada to freely spam Triple Axel and Flower Trick on Flying and Water teams, which at least 2HKOes any Pokemon on these types. Finally, U-turn provides Meowscarada a way to keep up momentum while also handling Hoopa-U. Ting-Lu provides great defensive support for Meowscarada, helping to deal with special threats like Choice Scarf Flutter Mane, Raging Bolt, and Iron Moth. Ting-Lu also can set up entry hazards, wearing down checks such as Archaludon and Hippowdon along with handling Steel- and Poison-types such as Heatran, Toxapex, and Sneasler with Earthquake. Mandibuzz can safely pivot Meowscarada in with U-turn and check physical attackers such as Excadrill, Scizor, and Choice Scarf Dragapult with Foul Play. Choice Specs Greninja complements Meowscarada, dealing with Fire-types and physical walls like Iron Moth, Moltres, and Skarmory with Surf. It can also use coverage like Extrasensory or Sludge Wave to better handle problems like Toxapex and the Ogerpon formes, respectively. Hisuian Samurott and Bisharp provide Sucker Punch speed control, dealing with targets faster than Meowscarada like Dragon Dance Dragapult and Swift Swim Barraskewda. Amoonguss complements Meowscarada defensively by dealing with Fighting- and Fairy-types like Iron Hands, Iron Valiant, and Choice Scarf Flutter Mane; it also absorbs Toxic Spikes to prevent Meowscarada being worn down and uses Spore to get Meowscarada in safely. Move-wise, Flower Trick and Knock Off are Meowscarada's most spammable moves, while Triple Axel nails would-be switch-ins such as Landorus-T and Mandibuzz. U-turn allows Meowscarada to create momentum to exploit the offensive pressure it is able to apply. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Meowscarada to pivot in multiple times throughout the game, while Choice Band boosts Meowscarada's power to higher levels, and Choice Scarf improves Meowscarada's speed control potential. Tera Grass is chosen to amplify Flower Trick to even higher levels, although Tera Dark is still a viable option to boost Knock Off. High Attack gods like Calyrex-I and Groudon are excellent for Meowscarada to inherit from. Furthermore, Calyrex-I and Groudon both appreciate Meowscarada's ability to break bulky Water-types such as Rotom-W, while Groudon also breaks Steel-types such as Heatran in turn. However, other Gods such as Zacian-C and Ho-Oh are acceptable alternatives, as they grant small but still noticeable Attack increases. Though Meowscarada functions as a powerful offensive pivot, it is quite frail, thus making defensive pivots such as Rotom-W, Landorus-T, and Pecharunt highly appreciated to allow Meowscarada to enter the field. Meowscarada also appreciates special attackers such as Iron Moth, Hisuian Electrode, and Landorus to break opposing physical walls such as Skarmory, Moltres, and Clefable as well as Pokemon walling all of its coverage like Zacian-C, with the former two also forming a VoltTurn core with Meowscarada. Lastly, Stealth Rock and Spikes users such as Skarmory and Ting-Lu are advantageous, as Meowscarada is able to remove foes' Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off and accumulate chip damage through entry hazards and U-turn.

Choice Scarf Meowscarada serves as the fastest viable Choice Scarf user in the format, able to revenge kill Pokemon like Dragon Dance Dragonite, Scale Shot Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Because Meowscarada is commonly forced out by Fire- and Flying-type foes such as Moltres, Mega Charizard Y, and Corviknight, partners that can switch into them like Raging Bolt, Alomomola, and Gholdengo are appreciated. In return, Meowscarada can threaten the Ground- and Grass-type Pokemon that commonly target these teammates, such as Garchomp, Gliscor, and Rillaboom, using its Speed and the threat of Triple Axel to force them out.

Meowscarada can struggle to get onto the field due to its lack of bulk and so appreciates slow pivots like Corviknight, Swampert, and Pecharunt that can also absorb revenge killing attempts from the likes of Chien-Pao, Deoxys-S, and Zamazenta. Meowscarada can also benefit from the presence of offensive pivots like Cinderace, Moltres, and Azelf that provide it with opportunities against switch-ins like Great Tusk, Manaphy, and Swampert. Meowscarada can struggle with breaking through Corviknight and Skarmory and so pairs well with other strong wallbreakers such as Zamazenta, Chien-Pao, and Ogerpon-W that can pressure and overload them. Similarly, it can benefit from strong hazard setters such as Great Tusk, Landorus, Ting-Lu, and Heatran that can chip and weaken Corviknight and other checks like Iron Hands and Zamazenta. Alternatively, Meowscarada can be paired with other strong wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Gholdengo and that can take advantage of a free switch into Corviknight or Skarmory.

Flower Trick's guaranteed critical hit is also very useful in the Fairy matchup and lets Meowscarada revenge kill Azumarill and a weakened Tapu Lele behind Reflect. U-turn allows Meowscarada to maintain an advantage against its defensive checks like Corviknight by being able to pivot into its teammates like Scovillain. Knock Off is a tool to cripple Meowscarada's defensive switch-ins like Toxapex and Klefki in addition to the aforementioned Corviknight. Play Rough is a strong coverage option to threaten opposing Dragon-type Pokemon like Kommo-o, Kyurem, and Latios, which Grass teams tend to struggle against. Low Kick is a less frequent option but lets Meowscarada OHKO Bisharp while threatening Heatran with a 2HKO; however, Play Rough is preferred to have an easier time against Dragon teams. Meowscarada has an easier time revenge killing foes with entry hazard support from Ferrothorn and Cradily. Ferrothorn appreciates Meowscarada's ability to check Fighting-types like Mega Gallade, Iron Valiant and Galarian Zapdos with STAB Play Rough. Hisuian Lilligant is also a fantastic offensive partner for Meowscarada. It is able to check the Flying-types that switch into Meowscarada like Celesteela and Landorus-T while also assisting in the Dragon matchup, outspeeding common Pokemon like Garchomp and Dragonite. Hisuian Lilligant also makes the Steel matchup easier for Grass; its ability to threaten Heatran is appreciated by Meowscarada, while Meowscarada can threaten Gholdengo with Knock Off, which Lilligant cannot beat. Mega Venusaur is also a mandatory defensive partner for Meowscarada; its Bug neutrality and bulk allows it to act as a consistent check to Mega Scizor, which easily switches into any move of Meowscarada, and Venusaur is able to check it with Hidden Power Fire. Mega Venusaur also checks opposing Fairy-types for Meowscarada like Tapu Koko, Mega Diancie, and Iron Valiant, while Meowscarada is able to threaten the Psychic-types that force out Mega Venusaur such as Latios, Mega Alakazam, and Victini. Whismicott is one of the best hazard removal options on Grass, and Meowscarada appreciates not having Stealth Rock and Spikes chip it down, because it comes in often to threaten a KO. Whimsicott's Fairy typing also allows Meowscarada and its teammates not to be overwhelmed by Dragon-types like Garchomp, and it can encore Calm Mind Mega Latias. Celebi with Nasty Plot and Groundium Z can break defensive Steel-types like Heatran and Hisuian Goodra while also being able to threaten opposing Poison-types like Alolan Muk and Toxapex.

With its good Attack, Speed, and access to Flower Trick and Knock Off, Meowscarada is a potent cleaner that is also hard to switch into. Flower Trick: With its guaranteed critical hit, Flower Trick is a dangerous cleaning move once foes resistant to it have been sufficiently chipped. U-turn: If using Protean, U-turn lets Meowscarada be a pivot that does far more damage than most other users, and it helps Choice Scarf Meowscarada get out of some tricky early-game situations such as Serperior leads. Jolly versus Adamant: Jolly is usually preferred for the Speed tie in mirror matches, but Adamant's extra power can be justified on Choice Scarf Meowscarada, since it still outspeeds boosted Garchomp. Choice Band versus Choice Scarf: Choice Band-boosted Meowscarada hits incredibly hard, and with its naturally high Speed, it can serve as a cleaner and a potential wallbreaker, especially against common Defense-boosting foes such as Bulk Up Annihilape and Tera Fairy Archaludon. With the Speed offered via Choice Scarf, Meowscarada can threaten otherwise faster foes, such as Dragapult and +1 Garchomp, potentially putting more pressure on offensive teams. Protean versus Overgrow: Protean’s type shifting allows Meowscarada to make the most of its colorful movepool, particularly on Choice-locked sets, where the limitation to only changing types once is effectively nullified. If you intend to make use of a Tera type other than Grass or Stellar, Overgrow is worth considering, as it allows Meowscarada more flexibility with its moves by not changing type and removing STAB from Flower Trick or Knock Off. Other Options Play Rough: Compared to Triple Axel, Play Rough isn't nearly as good at handling Dragon-types besides Hydreigon, but it does stop Terastallized Dragonite, Garchomp, and Baxcalibur from grabbing a Speed boost with Scale Shot. Sucker Punch: Sucker Punch is a strong priority attack, but it can be rather risky with a Choice item. Brick Break: Low Kick's superior damage output against Ursaluna-B usually makes it the better Fighting-type coverage move, but with Choice Band, Brick Break still OHKOes Kingambit and breaks Alolan Ninetales's Aurora Veil. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Low: Terastallization overriding Protean means Meowscarada should usually only Terastallize to clean a weakened team late-game. Grass: While Terastallizing does override Protean, Tera Grass Meowscarada can be used to power through teams ill-prepared for it. Dual screens teams in particular are especially vulnerable to the sheer power of Choice Band-boosted Tera Grass Flower Trick. Dark: Tera Dark-boosted Knock Off isn't as reliable at sweeping as Flower Trick, but it can surprise bulky Steel-types such as Scizor and Archaludon, as well as deal incredible damage to bulky Volcarona. Ghost: Tera Ghost is a defensive option to stop Dragonite's Extreme Speed from revenge killing Meowscarada. Minor Optimizations Neutral Natures and Trick: Make sure to use a neutral nature and a Jolly or Adamant Mint on Meowscarada, so it won't get confused by eating any Berry after using Trick.

With its good Speed and wide movepool, Meowscarada makes for a potent lead. Triple Axel: Triple Axel prevents Meowscarada from getting set-up on by Dragonite, and ruins Garchomp and Hydreigon. Sucker Punch: Sucker Punch allows Meowscarada to better handle fast foes such as Dragapult and Choice Scarf Gholdengo. Toxic Spikes: Meowscarada is an excellent offensive choice to lay Toxic Spikes, since it puts immense pressure on Ursaluna-B leads. Low Kick: Low Kick is Meowscarada's only way through Kingambit, with the bonus of dealing immense damage to Tera Normal Ursaluna-B. Protean versus Overgrow: Protean offers the most offensive flexibility. For more supportive sets with Toxic Spikes, Overgrow lets it keep STAB on its attacks after it uses its support moves. Other Options Taunt: Thanks to its good Speed, Meowscarada makes particularly excellent use of Taunt, though two big targets, Archaludon and Annihilape, will put Meowscarada in immense danger. Play Rough: While Triple Axel deals with most Dragon-types better, Play Rough can be a huge upset against Terastallized Scale Shot users like Dragonite and Garchomp! Tera Types Tera Dependency - Low: This Meowscarada has very little use for Terastallization, only using it in late-game situations where it can sweep. Grass: When paired with an Overgrow boost, Tera Grass lets Flower Trick deal a huge amount of damage. Dark: Tera Dark makes Knock Off even more difficult to switch into, especially hitting Volcarona hard. Stellar: Tera Stellar is the more flexible option for late-game sweeping. Just remember that moves only get the double BP boost if they match Meowscarada's current typing.
