Analysis

Farfetch'd attempts to break through defensive cores with its powerful STAB moves and great coverage options while packing First Impression to revenge kill the likes of Jynx and Silvally-Dark. However, with its mediocre bulk and Speed, Farfetch'd very scarcely gets any opportunity to land a hit, and even when it does, its Attack isn't even that high, letting most walls easily take a hit and retaliate back. Silvally-Flying and Unfezant are also able to fire off very powerful physical Flying-type STAB moves and outclass Farfetch'd in every way thanks to their far better stats.

Farfetch'd can attempt to offensively check certain threats like Absol and Jynx, and can annoy typical Flying-type checks such as Regirock and Aurorus with its coverage. However, outside of First Impression, Farfetch'd remains completely outclassed by better physical Flying- and Normal-types like Scyther, Dodrio, and Kangaskhan.

Moves While Farfetch'd doesn't find many opportunities to set up, Swords Dance can double its Attack, allowing it to deal much more damage to its foes. Brave Bird is Farfetch'd's strongest STAB move, and it can deal a lot of damage to frailer foes, but the recoil cuts Farfetch'd's health. Leaf Blade allows Farfetch'd to threaten Pokemon that resist Brave Bird, such as Probopass and Stunfisk, while also sporting a very high critical hit chance thanks to Stick. Quick Attack allows Farfetch'd to pick off weakened foes, especially after an Attack boost from Swords Dance or Defiant. Set Details This EV spread aims to maximize Farfetch'd's offensive capabilities. An Adamant nature along with maximum Attack investment gives Farfetch'd the power to hit as hard as possible, while maximum Speed investment is helpful in order to outspeed Pokemon such as Roselia. Farfetch'd can discourage the use of Defog thanks to Defiant, which gives it a +2 Attack boost if it switches into Defog. Stick is an item exclusive to Farfetch'd that boosts its critical hit ratio, giving moves such as Leaf Blade a very high chance for a critical hit. Life Orb can also be used to reliably deal more damage, but it easily wears down Farfetch'd and comes at the cost of its high critical hit ratio. Usage Tips Farfetch'd is extremely frail, so it shouldn't be switched into strong attacks from Pokemon such as Stoutland and Monferno. Instead, it should be safely brought into battle with the help of a slower Volt Switch or U-turn from Pokemon such as Probopass and Pelipper. Farfetch'd can be switched into Defoggers such as Pelipper and Vibrava to gain a +2 Attack boost thanks to Defiant, but it should be wary of taking a hit instead. If a foe is low on health, Farfetch'd can be brought in to revenge kill it with Quick Attack. If Farfetch'd is facing a foe that can't deal much damage to it, such as Gogoat, it can set up a Swords Dance in order to sweep or punch a hole in the opposing team. Farfetch'd should mainly be used as a late-game sweeper, though it can also be brought in mid-game to gain a boost from Defog or revenge kill a foe with Quick Attack; it can also set up on a forced switch against foes such as Roselia and Vibrava. Team Options Farfetch'd best fits on offensive teams, mainly ones that make use of a lot of entry hazards, as it can discourage the use of Defog and sweep late-game. Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon such as Bronzor and Roselia are helpful to wear down Farfetch'd's checks, as well as break opposing Sturdy and Focus Sash. Sticky Web users such as Smeargle and Kricketune work wonders for Farfetch'd, as Sticky Web can slow down the foe, helping Farfetch'd outspeed faster Pokemon such as Ninetales and Simipour; all entry hazards are also helpful for baiting the use of Defog, which gives Farfetch'd a +2 Attack boost. Farfetch'd appreciates wallbreakers such as Ursaring and Stoutland, as they can weaken Farfetch'd's checks, making it easier to sweep. Slow users of Volt Switch and U-turn, such as Probopass and Pelipper, make for good partners, as they can get Farfetch'd into battle safely. Probopass is also able to trap opposing Probopass, which would otherwise wall Farfetch'd. Ground-types such as Golem and Gabite are able to take on Electric- and Rock-types, which are some of the most common Pokemon Farfetch'd is weak to. Because Farfetch'd is weak to Stealth Rock, it appreciates entry hazard control from Pokemon such as Pelipper and Armaldo. Healing Wish support from Pokemon such as Clefairy and Mr. Mime is very helpful in reviving Farfetch'd for the late-game, as it can be quickly worn down by Stealth Rock damage as well as recoil from Brave Bird.

Analysis

This is the best set Farfetch'd can run, which admittedly isn't that impressive. Swords Dance patches up Farfetch'd's Attack stat, but yet might find a bit of trouble setting up due to its frailty. Brave Bird is Farfetch'd's main STAB move, and, unlike Return, can OHKO Ludicolo on the switch even when unboosted. Leaf Blade allows Farfetch'd to get past Rock-types, thus giving it a niche over other Normal- and Flying-types; it is extremely weak without a boost, though. For example, even with Stealth Rock support, an unboosted Leaf Blade cannot OHKO Carracosta and Golem. Finally, Quick Attack allows Farfetch'd to pick off weakened opponents and gets around its low Speed. However, Quick Attack is otherwise extremely weak and will fail to do anything of note against bulkier opponents. An Adamant nature is used because Farfetch'd needs all the power it can get. A Jolly nature allows Farfetch'd to outspeed Modest Ludicolo and Samurott, but Farfetch'd is extremely pathetic offensively without an Adamant nature. U-turn is an interesting move option, allowing Farfetch'd to flee from opponents and gain momentum for the team. Farfetch'd absolutely needs entry hazard support because its pathetic offenses mean it falls short on several KOs without it. For instance, Farfetch'd cannot OHKO Golem 100% of the time unless Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes is on the opponent's side of the field. Probopass is a decent teammate as it provides Stealth Rock support, provides a slow Volt Switch to bring in Farfetch'd safely, and traps and defeats Steel-type opponents for it. Roselia covers up on Farfetch'd's weakness to Electric-type moves and sets up Spikes to aid it. Rapid Spin support from Wartortle and Torkoal is beneficial to allow Farfetch'd to switch in more times and thus possibly survive weaker hits. Mold Breaker Sawk blasts through Steel-types and defeats opposing Stealth Rock leads that possess the Sturdy ability. Due to Farfetch'd's pitiful bulk, it appreciates support to allow itself to set up more easily. Dual screens and Encore support are useful to help it out. Ampharos is a good teammate, taking Electric-type attacks aimed at Farfetch'd, setting up dual screens, and utilizing a slow Volt Switch to bring it in safely.

Analysis

There's so many options with this set, it almost makes Dux look versatile. You're going to get to one HP somehow to launch STAB Flails, Swords Danced or not. Substitute and Endure on the same set nearly guarantees you get that Swords Dance in, Aerial Ace gives you some decent STAB when Flail isn't effective (yet), and Agility allows you to skip Salac Berry and outspeed more things in addition to praying for Liechi. I could have named this set F(l)ail, but since Dux is so horribly cool I think placing it in the same vein as Luvdisc is a bit mean.

If you're using Farfy, you should be a rather optimistic fellow. Therefore, you will assume it critical hits as often as it dies. Farfetch'd's Special Attack may be beyond atrocious, but it's also only seven base points lower than its Attack, so Air Cutter might work out if Farfetch'd is exceptionally lucky.

Oh boy. Okay, here is the deal. Farfetch'd has amazing coolness value, and with this, it astounds its opponent into switching six times in a row. In the meantime you Knock Off their items, Toxic them, use Return to dent things a little or U-turn to get the hell out. Or, in a more realistic scenario, you get to use one of these moves and you just see which is more appropriate.

Analysis

Uh oh, it's Farfetch'd! Actually to be honest, "Uh oh" is what you say when you bring out Farfetch'd because it's a terrible Pokemon. Swords Dance + Slash + critical hit will hurt a lot of stuff, but I doubt you will even get that far because everything and anything kills Farfetch'd easily. Knock Off is to hit Skarmory or Gengar or such on the switch.

Analysis

Farfetch'd cements itself as a solid cleaner due to having access to Flail and Swords Dance. This allows it to OHKO various physical walls in the tier like Koffing, making it a scary offensive cleaner with a Salac Berry late-game. Flail is Farfetch'd's strongest move when at low HP, with it being able to OHKO or heavily damage even Normal-resistant Pokemon like Magnemite and Rhyhorn when boosted. Hidden Power Ghost is used to threaten Shuppet, which would otherwise be a hard wall thanks to its Normal immunity, but leaves Farfetch'd vulnerable to Aron. To remedy this, Farfetch'd can run Hidden Power Fighting to threaten Aron, but this leaves it completely walled by Shuppet. Substitute allows Farfetch'd to put itself in range of Salac Berry, power up Flail to its maximum strength, and take advantage of switches. Swords Dance allows Farfetch'd to reach offensive thresholds like OHKOing Magnemite and doing 72-85% to Rhyhorn with maximum power Flail, which can be crucial in Farfetch'd's clean late-game. Lastly, a Salac Berry allows Farfetch'd to outspeed the entire metagame, allowing it to clean with its only worry being priority users like Elekid, Pidgeotto, and Cyndaquil. Inner Focus is the preferred ability to stop flinches from Fake Out users like Meowth. Farfetch'd is usually found on offensive teams or teams that rely on status to give Farfetch'd more opportunities to set up. Pokemon like Magnemite and Delcatty that spread paralysis through Body Slam and Thunder Wave make good teammates for this reason, with Butterfree also standing out thanks to having Sleep Powder and Stun Spore. Farfetch'd also appreciates Pokemon that can pressure Rock- and Steel-types such as Lileep, Aron, and Rhyhorn, so Seaking, Growlithe, and Koffing can be great partners. Farfetch'd can be vulnerable to priority from Pokemon like Elekid, Pidgeotto, and Cyndaquil when set up, so Pokemon like Rhyhorn, Geodude, and Delcatty can help Farfetch'd deal with these foes. Additionally, Pokemon like Aipom and Elekid outspeed Farfetch'd and threaten an OHKO with Double-Edge and Thunderbolt, respectively, so it benefits from teammates like Rhyhorn, Lileep, and Chinchou that can deal with these Pokemon.

Analysis

Farfetch'd is one of the most dangerous Pokemon in GSC NU when given an opportunity. Agility with Baton Pass is an extremely powerful combination that allows Farfetch'd to pass Speed boosts to huge threats such as Cubone, Machoke, Kingler, and Stantler. These recipients are more than capable of sweeping entire teams if they aren't carefully prepared for. Due to the sheer power of this strategy, most teams will have a Haze user such as Xatu or Weezing that they will use to thwart this strategy. However, unlike other Baton Passers, Farfetch'd comes equipped with STAB Return, which can be used to chip away at these Haze users to get them to the point where they have no choice but to allow you to pass your chosen stat or else be KOed. Swords Dance further amplifies the danger posed by Farfetch'd and can be used to preserve the more valuable HP of the recipient, which would otherwise need to spend a turn setting up an Attack boost, in exchange for taking a hit with Farfetch'd. Apart from the aforementioned recipients, Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, Primeape, and Flareon can also make for adequate recipients. Flareon can also set up additional Growth or Curse boosts to pass along with the Speed boosts from Farfetch'd. Pokemon that can spread paralysis and set up screens, such as Voltorb, Flaaffy, and Bayleef, are also essential teammates for giving Farfetch'd the best possible chance at passing boosts to a teammate. Explosion users are also useful, as they can create a chance for Farfetch'd to enter the battlefield without having to take a hit. Voltorb is great for this purpose and compresses the role of screens user and Explosion user into a single team slot. Weezing and Gastly are also capable of performing this role; Weezing can handle opposing setup attempts adequately with its access to Haze and Explosion, whereas Gastly can null Explosions aimed at preventing Farfetch'd from passing boosts.
